This is pretty much a classic now. 2006 season: Last season with Michelin tyres, Schumacher with Ferrari, Raikkonen with McLaren and Alonso trying to get his second title at Renault. ^_^
This game is so much atmospheric than the new ones. It has formation lap, cool, real TV displays, exciting start, some commentary. Codemasters games are just doesn't give this feel. Also this has way better sense of speed. And the graphics aren't much worse than F1 2013... It's so good to watch.
i don't really mind about the graphics, i'd rather have the shittiest graphics and have a solid gameplay with all this stuff.

kikkomaafaka that's why I still play rFactor. The graphics are obsolete, but it has good physics, lots of tracks and series to download. But I played the old PS Formula 1 (95) game, it was also fun for me.

kikkomaafaka yeah, F1 challenge has great mods too. I love that game too. It's somewhat the predecessor of rFactor. rFactor uses an upgraded version of F1C's engine.

They share the same engine, except ISI made many improvements in the game engine for rFactor, like they upgraded it to DirectX9. Even the wiki says: "rFactor is an evolution of F1 Challenge '99-'02, but without the licensing of Formula One circuits and teams."
I still play this game today, I got it on release and it still amazes me how well it holds up today against the new console offerings. Who would have thought a PS3 launch title would be a better game than a current gen title!!
What a terrifying dive bomb from Button there! The engine sounds excellent. Hell, they even paid attention to the shifting down sound, unlike today, every single racing games has flat and shitty shifting down sound. Only Mods got it right.
I never owned a PS3 so I didn't get a chance to play this. I had its PS2 version, F1 06, which was pretty good, but the visuals (for 2007) and especially the sound on this game are excellent! They nailed the engine notes, better sound representation than any of Codemasters' games.

This was the first game I played on my PS3 on the day PS3 was released in UK back in March 2007 and it just blow my mind back then, even today it looks good.
Ridiculous how this game is better than any new F1 game. Yeah sure they are nicer to drive, and stuff, but it shouldn't be hard for Codemasters to add a 7 year career back, being able to drive as test driver maybe, warm up lap and the realistic way these cars spun and damaged easily, atleast there should be a option to put realistic damage on or minimal and no damage at all.
I think at least it should give you a option to skip that, tho i freaking loved this feature on the f1 06 version (ps2) despite the fact it was less realistic (cuz the driver isn't gonna get out of the car and do the pitstop)

they're coming back for f1 2016 i think search aarava F1 2016 codemasters or tiametmarduk instead i don't remember which i heard it from but they got to beta test the new 2016 game and i'm pretty sure they said formation laps will be back i know they're fixing career and safety is back aarava and Ben and everyone else singed an nda (non disclosure agreement but the codeys gave them the thumbs up for some things
I know this video is 10 years old but I've recently started playing this again on PC in 4k using my Fanatec wheel & pedals. Such great fun to revisit the 2006 season. Great game that had everything.

El mejor juego de F1 al que jugué!! Esta es la versión de PS3, de hace 10 años atrás. Me imagino lo que sería si la compañía que hizo este juego (SCE Studio Liverpool de Sony Computer Entertainment) lo hiciera en la actualidad. Sería increible!! Los F1 de Codemasters son lindos pero muy fríos. Los F1 de Sony tenían mucha mas sensación de velocidad, vibración de cámaras por velocidad, efecto zoom, el movimiento del casco de la versión de PS2 todavía no lo veo en Codemasters.

This game looks good. It reminds me so much, of F1 World Grand Prix I and II, by Video Systems, for the dreamcast. Monaco Grand Prix aka. Racing Simulation 2: Monaco Grand Prix online edition by UbiSoft, is another nice one too.😃
It has aged very, very wel for me... The only thing I don't like in modern F1 games is the lack of intense feeling, motion blur and all This 2006 game absolutely nailed it. Graphics are amazing for its time. It's barely pixelated or anything.

this game had an excellent feel. The CPU was merciless. they were fast and they overtook you too. Codemasters is shit.

Sounds so shitty today. I had F1 2006 on PS2. Sold it. Sold Virtua Tennis 2 also. Did not know I was sitting on treasures.

This is all because the field of view angle is perfectly done. The cameras on the TV now are a wide angle and give a slower sense of speed.
