Hey, Mike! Its been almost a month since i got my first job as a data analyst, thanks to you. Speaking of junk, they put me on some 'Cognos Analytics - Reporting' tool, and that's just awful. I still do sql though, so i think its fine for the first job. Thanks for your work (my english sucks :p).
What do you think about grinding Leetcode for data roles? Is it necessary for passing interviews or it is just FAANG companies that use this as a hiring method?
Interesting, thanks! Could you also share why you left these FAANG companies? I feel like many people dream of working there. Was it more money when leaving or too much stress or anything else people don't have on their radar?
Politics. The average time for any IT guy at Google is 1.5 years. There's a lot of reasons for this but most smart people do not like working there. Microsoft was a little different. It was a solid place to work... even though it was too political also.
Only do Leetcode when applying for a software engineer role. They have you solve rediculous problems and end up writing code for business logic as your main job. It’s dumb as hell. Take it from me who’s worked as a state employee and as a contractor.
Hi Mike, you mentioned Indeed sucks now? Been out of job searching for a bit and wondering if you could expand on that? I got both my DA and DE roles from Indeed in the past.
Hey Mike, give me a harsh truth for my internship. Should I decided on a data science internship role (modeling, image recognition, more hand on jobs) or a data analyst internship with a massive company however I believe I will receive less experience but there is a opportunity for climbing in the company.
Sir thank you for all this knowledge. I have a mini request here, are there some top Engineers(either MLE or DE) that you know that we could follow in Indeed or LinkdIn, NOT the DATA Scientists of course!!😂😂
Hey Mike, thanks a lot for such frequent uploads, but let's get right to it ;) I am planning to pursue a PhD in Predictive Maintenance as I am from mechanical engineering background and have a masters degree in Production Systems. Also, I have coding experience and have worked in machine learning (which is 90% data preparation and 10% model training and performance evaluation). What from your experience do you think is the future scope of Predictive Maintenance? Also would it be easier to switch to a MLE role in case I want to? Thank you very much 🙂
You wouldn't if you aren't in a data role or programming role. However, yes... I'd search for xgboost and scikit. If they have xgboost or gradient boosters in their desc, then they probably know what they are doing.
I also inadvertently discovered this when I would not get results. And I found that HR has no clue about technology.
If there is one thing I want AI to replace, that's HR

Most of them suck. :)
I just passed the pl-300 and will now start preping the dp-300 and looking for a job in the meantime. Thanks for the wisdom and wish me luck.
Good luck!
Hey Mike, thanks for the video. I have the PL-300 cert for PBI, do you think I need to work on getting a Tableau cert too?
I would if I were you. It will give you an edge.
Hi , can i please ask you how did you prepare for the certification and how long did it take you ? thanks.

Would like to know this as well
I've worked at two FANNG companies and I've never seen a LeetCode question.

Search sucks. The platform is still good. I get most of my rolls form there also. Actually, the last five or six.

That's up to you. However, even with an internship, you have a hard time getting a job. Almost impossible these days.
Sir thank you for all this knowledge.

All the top guys I know don't post anything. They are too busy working.

I never heard of the term. Sorry man. I've actually built models for predicting train engine component failure but we were all just MLEs.
@@thedatajanitor9537 Ah ohkay, thank you anyways :)
oh really nice recommendation. big thanks! so what would you search for ml engineer? 'xgboost', 'scikit-learn'?
