Thank you for this very helpful video! I just bought a nice accordion at an estate sale (impulse buy) and even though it came with some beginner instructional books, they included no mention nor description of the proper positioning of the accordion and its straps, how to expand the bellows correctly, and what all those buttons do. Your video is a clear and concise overview of all the basics - the best I've seen on RUclips yet!

Excellent video. You mention other lessons in this video. Do you think you could put a playlist together to give some chronological order to your videos? It would be as great help.
    Thanks once again

I have learned more from this video than the two books and countless internet searches I've struggled with. Thank you, Ken. Brilliantly presented and just great video. That accordion is absolutely gorgeous!!!!!

Great lesson, it is however advizable to practice the bass with 4-3 instead of 3-2, it is bit more difficult at first, but it will benefit later.

All right! Somebody knows the 4-3 method, too. I learned it in 1967 and have never found anyone else who plays that method. It is much smoother and provides great control of the left side. The "stretch" is very comfortable especially for the diminished chord. This guy gives a great lesson.

You should be teaching finger 4 (ring finger) for bass and counterbass. It's much easier and makes better use of the left hand.

Thanks for this beginner's lesson. I especially appreciate the details you give about best adjustment for the left-hand strap and the direction to move the bellows (not just out, but down and out). These are important issues, and I haven't seen them addressed in any of the several method books I've looked at-even the good ones! So, again, thank you!

yup, great lesson - got me through my first week :) perhaps ill-advisedly I fell for a hohner 120 bass in a shop second hand, thought.. oh my what have i done, this won't be easy... but .. glad I did. The tip on straps was particularly useful :) I'm happily getting to grips with the piano and bass bits already, might even take it out live in a couple of months. Helped that I'm a keyboard player, and have an indian harmonium which helps with the playing and bellows certainly.

thank you, I was wondering what the bar is you press that is on the left hand by the bass buttons. I have a bar that presses but does not seem to do anything.
