So far, this is the most informative company I have found that gives the most help in seeing the product and what it does!!! Thank you:) I am much more inclined to buy your product even if it is a bit more expensive than one I have seen many "commercials" for!
Just bought the glass bead gel since the closest art store was out of medium gel gloss. can't wait to use it! oh Golden, what would I do without you (I'm leaving for a semester in Germany soon... trying not to carry too much weight with me, but I need to take my gels!)
@volyamoskin Yes, you can absolutely use glazing liquid over crackle paste. In fact, it may improve adhesion. The difference would be in the look, where using a lot of water gives you a washed, aged, stained look, the glazing liquid will give you a more consistent glazed finish.
Thanks Patti! Great videos! I have a question, can I glaze the crackle paste using golden glazing liquid instead of water? What would be the difference?
How long does the molding paste need to dry for before the cracko paste is applied? And how long does the cracko paste take to dry before the next layer is applied?
How would you recommend glazing/varnishing/finishing a painting like this? I've never worked with this many layers before, and I'm a bit nervous about messing it up. Thanks!
Thanks! - Yes, this will work on canvas, but it would need to be stretched. The Molding Paste will draw the canvas in and cause it to warp if it's un-stretched (we illustrate this in our video about Molding Pastes). And a stretched canvas will tend to sag a bit in the middle, which will effect some of the washes Patti demonstrates.
Yes, I have actually watched your entire extensive library of videos. I love them! But the vast amount of information is actually part of the problem, as I don't know which technique would work best with this particular material. I thought you might have a specific recommendation for varnishing this type of work that involves multiple layers. I'm particularly concerned about varnishing over a thick application of crackle paste. Any suggestions you might have would be extremely helpful.
@NightmaresAria - take a look at our online re-sellers if none of the retail stores in your area have it. It is a very popular product, so those stores are missing out on a product that moves pretty well. (Mention it to the folks in your store next time you visit. Thanks!)
Karin, we have an extensive library of videos and technical documents on this subject. Browse our channel for more help - but the standard recommendations always involve making sure your artwork is thoroughly dry before attempting to varnish, and we also recommend an "isolation coat" of acrylic medium (there is a video just on this subject) that protects your painting should you ever want or need to remove your varnish.
Lorraine, this should work fine on canvas. The thing to be mindful of is that if your canvas is un-stretched and loose, the molding paste and other mediums can cause it to warp as they dry, if applied heavily. If your canvas is stretched, the natural sagging of the canvas toward the center will cause pours to puddle.
Hi Carol, that is mostly covered in the description. Although "Airbrush Acrylics" have become High Flow colors, the list in the description covers the products used, but not the specific colors.
Oh... well, I am sorry about that. I don't know where you're at (geographically) but you can always contact our Tech Support team with questions, even send an image of your artwork for specific advice about how you might approach varnishing it. Trust me, they answer varnish questions every day (probably the #1 topic of questions), they'll be happy to help if they can.
Great video Patty!!!

What type of wide brush are you using? Thank you!

Great video. Can you do this technique on plain canvas.
Lorraine
I LOVE that Golden has a youtube account. I ABSOLUTELY want to buy the glass bead gel, but no one carries it!

Wonderful. Am going to try it.. Could you not add a list of what you have used for the projects, so I know what to order. Thanks

Ok, thanks.
Great demo, but the cost of the needed materials are too high for many of us. I will add a few as I can then re watch the demo before trying hem
This seems like a waste of paint
