Beautiful autumn day to cut trees and get firewood. Farmland is scarce and expensive. Many farms (including ours) can easily gain bits and pieces of pasture and cropland by cleaning up brushy and wooded area borders. Your Dad is skilled at felling and bucking trees...keeps them on target!!!
Nothing more satisfying than clearing timber ,tidying up wind fall and doing so in such a beautiful farm ..and in a cold winters night sitting cosy watching cowboy tv with your family. Great work
and judging by the chips (rather than dust) comin' out of his saw, Pa's also a good sharpener, too! The way that top busted outta that one tree, it (the tree) was no "great loss." Keep 'em commin'!
It's both incredible beauty, and beautiful, hard work. I'm watching a way of life there, a way that came over with your predecessors. It's very rewarding, in ways other than money. Bless you folks!
A chain saw will give your back a good workout. Firewood warms a bod more than once. There's a lot of work in staying warm with that stuff. Gotta get the young backs up there when it's time to haul it home. Mason and Owen can use it as weight training. Stay warm fellas. Winter is here.
Ya gotta appreciate how he "cleaned up" the stump...undoubtedly for firewood...to realize the 'enth-degree " of that tree's potential. Not to mention it's no longer shading your grazing...
I have a 6" chipper I use to make all the tops into bedding for my cows. When the chipper knives are sharp the chips are pretty small. They pre-compost and dry a good bit in the bay I push the chips into. When I spread the bedding pack you really can't see the chips at all - it's just beautiful brown material coming out of the spreader.
I kept sayin' to myself "Well, at least ONE of these (trees) is gonna go on the fence..." But No; apparently Pa didn't WANT em' on his fence... Another good video! Enjoy ALL your contnet!
Most people clear the trees before putting up the fence 😮😂. Great video, and your Dad dropped them on target. I think he might have cut a tree or two before 🤔👍🪓
You should not kneel on the ground to cut the tree down. If you need to get out of the way you can't move as fast. Cut the tree high and then recut the stump at ground level. Don't run your blade in the dirt.

I love fall in Wisconsin. What brand is the ol manure spreader?
Looks to me like an H&S spreader but not sure
@@prariewindsfarm It could be after I played the video couple of times.

You should always put your Chainsaw on the ground while starting it. Holding it and pull starting it will damage it over time!
Could you have gotten a logger in there to take more trees, and get payed for them ,make more since.
Wish I could. Mistakes in youth destroying the spine, sucks to be me.
this man really needs to learn how to sharpen a chainsaw
Never judge any hard working farmer until you have walked a day in their boots..
