Low Tiers hold this very special spot on the tier list because a few things happen when they show up:
1) The other player will typically underestimate their opponent
2) This may lead to cockiness and lower their guard
3) If the Low Tier starts winning, the opponent's mental begins to tank because "Surely I'm not going to lose to them"
4) If the Low Tier loses then it means nothing, because you dunked on a bad character
In short Low Tiers have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
Hell yeah, and THAT'S why someone who can play a low tier and hold his own in a tournament is way scarier than someone obliterating a tournament with a top tier.
The top tier knows how to play the game to win,
The low tier knows how to mess with your mind to lower your guard AND play the game to win.
i will always be more scared of someone who picks a low tier than a high tier. a high tier probably is a match up i have tried a lot of times. a low tier? maybe is first time in weeks or months

I've said this before, but in a game as balanced as Ultimate, low tiers aren't necessarily low because they're "bad" but more because they have consistent and relatively easy counterplay. They can still absolutely annihilate you if you're unprepared to face them and the opponent is good enough.
this is very true, i think the tierlist mainly applies to top level play. even then, you can still win with characters like k rool and ganon, it would be much more difficult.
And then there's just Mii Swordfighter over here with neutral b up b killing at 60

Definitely. Two of my low tier characters I play a lot is K. Rool and Kirby and I can get a lot of wins as them. I even beat a friend of mine as Kirby who plays a particularly dickish R.O.B. lol

I've been playing smash basically all my life at this point and while playing ultimate I've gone through a lot of changes. But the main boy who has stood by me the entire time is Kirby. My little pink puffball was my first character main when I didn't even know how to play the game and now he's up there being one of my strongest characters.
Although my Mario is the equivalent of facing a melee Jiggs with how many backairs I can string, I've recently picked up little mac due to the love of his gameplay and fighting style. It feels like you're actually boxing as you weave in and out of attacks, wait for your perfect moment to strike, and counter when need be. Playing him just feels amazingly powerful

@@aydenator2770 Same (as a big BIG k rool main, I love the croc lmao), he's got a ton of ups, especially being compared to other heavies (super armor on a lot of moves, great damage output, and projectiles :0).
Thing is tho his disadvantage state is actually the pits, it is the worst and is probably whats putting him down a lot, he gets juggled easily which makes him combo food, his aformentioned projectiles are stupid slow and 9 × outta 10 will be really easy to react to and defend/dodge, and its really hard to close the gap and approach as him as hes slow, big and a bit predictable?

I love how all “Low tiers” are just extremely broken characters that are nerfed by one aspect of the game that is very important to have (recovery)
Isabelle, K Rool, Kirby, piranha plant, Mii sword fighter, and king dedede are all apparently low tier according to the beginning of the video.
Not all, Zelda recovery is pretty good, and King K Rook, Piranha Plant and Isabelle have okay recoveries
And there are characters with a terrible recovery who aren't low tier, such as chrom
How vulnerable you are during it also plays a factor.
fr though. If Mac had a recovery as good as someone like Shulk, he’d be in at least C tier.
@@OofGP , both K Rool and Kirby have a bad recovery. K Rool needs to be close to the stage for a safe recovery and Kirby can get camped easily due to his weight and floatiness.
The first comment is just deadass wrong. Smash low tiers need to have multiple exploitable flaws in order to be considered "low tier" such as bad frame data (Zelda; seriously, her deadly moves are really precise or they're super delayed), awful or unsafe recovery (Doc), low speed (DDD, Ganon), no mixup (Plant), inability to edge guard (Mac), struggle getting back to neutral (most of low tiers), etc. That's why top and high tiers usually have a singular flaw or really op mechanics that allow them to erase opponents easily (Kazuya Mishima, lmao). If a Steve loses to Mac or Doc, that's pure skill issue 'cause ain't no way you losing as Steve against Mac or Doc 💀

Well, tier lists are made for and only really apply to pro level gameplay since tier lists reflect the opinions of the top players along with character placement in tournaments, how often certain characters are played, and how many good or bad match-ups they have.
If you're a new player, you definitely should ignore tier lists as you're still learning the game and won't have the same knowledge as those who have been playing Ultimate since release. If anything, new players should play who they wanna and stick with the character they like the most and learn the game through them
Yeah tier lists are cringe. As a Byleth, Sephiroth, Meta Knight, Shulk, and Ridley main, anyone can be good if you put the time to learn everything you can with them
I'm still learning many characters and eventually I want to main at least half the roster

I am a k rool main and I think a lot of others will agree, but the one thing that k rool out of c tier is how his recovery is so exploitable. If smash 6 is ever realesed, I hope they will make him better.

Snake does everything Isabelle does better
She's light and if you know her tricks you can play around slingshot and fishing rod. Lloyd can be destroyed by anything that does 10% minimum, her grab is way too slow and she's a sitting duck when recovering without fishing rod.
Playing against aggressive characters makes setting up her neutral difficult, especially on stages without platforms
She has really good ledge trapping, but so does other characters like Pac, Snake and Diddy without the blatant flaws.
It's been 4 and a half years, I think low tier is warranted considering her results
@@carsongxd she's pretty bad bro. Not Ganon bad, but Isabelle has like two real strengths that standout: her jab and the rod against certain recoveries. She has poor mobility, poor-ish disadvantage, poor damage output, poor Oos, poor shield pressure, niche to nearly useless specials against a lot of the cast, and an awful grab.
I originally maines Wolf and Terry, but im right now trying to main King K. Rool and Chromez watching this really makes me want to push My King K. Rool past its limits

reminder low tiers in ultimate are far more powerful than low tiers in previous games, and even have some good MUs against a couple chatacters in higher tiers, like mac doing surprisingly well against the fighting game characters.

I honestly can’t say any characters are bottom tier in this game compared to melee, brawl, and smash 4. In those games, characters like melee bowser and brawl ganondorf were so clearly bad compared to the rest of the cast you could easily see them as bottom tier in a competitive environment. But in ultimate, I can see how some characters are top tier, but there aren’t any characters I can consider bottom tier, just not as used as other characters.
