    They make it look so easy. Can't wait to see the flying cross again. I've been an Aggie fan as long as i can remember. My family moved to Ennis, Texas, when I was in the 2nd grade. The public school's colors were maroon and white, and their fight song was and still is the Aggie War Hymn. I remember that half of Ennis traveled to College Station in 1975 to watch the Ennis Lions win the state championship in football. It must have been odd for the college students to hear their war hymn from a "foreign band." And those memories rush in every time i watch an A&M football game, or watch the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band perform on RUclips. Thanks for posting.

      A&M is not a Military Band. The cadets have no obligation to any branch of the US Military upon graduation. They are simply a college band.

    • @jamesanderson7266
      @jamesanderson7266 4 года назад +6

      Robert McCoin is totally wrong. Every last member of the Texas A&M Band is a member of the Corp of Cadets. To refer to them as just another college band is ignorant if not delusional. These kids are patriots with a love of country, living a lifestyle of discipline to the same extent as any of the other military schools. No they are not required to enlist upon graduation but many do and they are all prepared should they choose to take that route.

    • @toddrf
      @toddrf 4 года назад +6

      @@robertmccoin1166 I just ran across this and feel some correction is needed. Texas A&M is one of six "senior military colleges" in the US . As such, they established a Corps of Cadets and an ROTC program under 10 USC 2111a(f). The A&M Corps of Cadets is roughly 2400-2500 cadets in size, and approximately 40-45% of them are part of the ROTC program on track to commission in one of the four main military branches. All cadets take ROTC classes for two years. The Aggie Band is comprised of approximately 370 of these cadets, so many of them, like my daughter, are contracted with a branch of service. This is the long way of saying that you are totally and completely wrong. Please stop commenting on things you are ignorant about.
      Edit: i read more of the comments and see that you just have an ax to grind.

    • @toddrf
      @toddrf 4 года назад +2

      @@jamesanderson7266 Again, to be clear, roughly 40-45% of the Corps are in ROTC and committed by contract to commissioning (as an officer, not enlisted) upon graduation. That should work out to 900-1000 commissioned officers every year. They do live a military lifestyle, wear a uniform every day, and are subject to military-style discipline. The FTAB is composed from cadets in the Corps, so many of bandsmen will become officers when they graduate.

    Take a look at the A&M Band. As approximately 65% of these "cadets" will never serve 1 day in any military branch. There are no requirements for A&M cadets to serve at all after they graduate. It is very annoying listening to all these comments regarding the "military band". It is damn near stolen valor because most of the cadets will never be in the military at all.
