    Christian stayed calm and didn’t let his emotions derail his performance. If he keeps that up in 2024 he will start winning these finals.

      Spot on. He’s a phenomenal player, but we’ve definitely seen his emotions get the best of him like that game months ago Vs McGuffin. He keeps playing like this and banging that 16 y/o so her mom can coach him, nothing can stop him not even local law authority.

    Nail biter. Both players showed up and played great. Alshon has really improved, probably mentally the most.

    Alshon has done quite well lately. He was almost double pickled a couple of months ago by BJ at the final. Now he put up one of the only two real fights of the championship Sunday.

      He can learn how to be a better player but I doubt how to be a class act

    Christian should have challenged at 32:56 ball was definitely on the line

    Can we PLEASE get a ball person for these events? Watching these guys chase balls all over the place after points is so amature.

      watching boys and girls run after balls like their life depends on it, is dumb.

    Noticed that the thumbnail for this video shows Christian as a lefty. I watched the match courtside yesterday- didn't once see Alshon go to the Riley Newman hand-switch. Hats off to the creativity of the graphics dept.

    Shame Alshon did not stay with pro tennis. He has ideal height and body for tennis; almost like Novak or Roger. His tennis game was good. He uses a one hander in tennis but a two hander in pickle. His one hander in tennis is not up to tour standards, but he could improve it. Sampras and I believe Roger went from two to one. It took Pete a while to get his one hander to work. Alshon's serve looked to be OK. Not great rhythm, but utilized his strong legs. Would love to see him give tennis another shot. It would make for an interesting story. I am sure Jack Sock would love to give him some coaching.

      He has talked about it and said he got burned it on tennis and how he’s much more passionate about pickleball.

    Why is everyone hitting returns to the forehand? I saw this in the semis too.

      Good point, I saw Alshon's weakness is the backhand. Several times Ben returned to Alshon's backhand and got the advantage. So I was thinking why Ben didn't keep returning to Alshon's backhand?

    PPA needs to change the angle from behind the baseline. The court and play only takes place on the top half of the screen. Very ugly to watch, zoom in and tilt the camera up, at least after the serve and return

    • @gabewoh20
      @gabewoh20 Год назад

      The side court camera angle is pretty good for after the serve, when it’s not unnecessarily panning back and forth

    16:35 Alshon calls out a ball that landed in the paint! It was obvious and slo-mo confirms it's about 4 inches in. Alshon also retrieves the ball back to Ben like a child. So glad to see him lose.

    This sport desperately needs an overhead serve like tennis. The underhand serve SUCKS. I propose that they stand several feet back from the baseline to hit an overhead serve. They also need to eliminate the one bounce on the third shot. They make those two changes and the TV interest in the sport will grow exponentially. As it is today, TV pickleball is really boring, Just interested in your thoughts to make the game more exciting on TV, Possibly reducing the size of the kitchen could be interesting.
