AS a Brit living overseas here in the US, wallpaper is huge in Europe, so I'm familiar with putting it up and removing it. Best way to remove is fill a bucket with hot soapy water (use dish soap) score the paper and then soak the wall using a big sponge. Leave it for 10 mins and it should peel off in sheets.

We were recommended fabric softener. Bought the cheapest one and then soaked the walls and ceilings! ~800 square metres up to 8 layers of wallpaper have been successfully removed 🫣😊

Me too. When I got our first apartment, my kitchen had wallpaper with hunting ducks🤦🏻‍♀️. I removed it with hot water and a blow dryer. Came out in one piece.

Allison because of you I asked my landlord if he’d mind if I painted my apartment Swiss Coffee, lol. He thought about it for a week and after going to get a sample for himself said yeah that’s fine a good neutral. Then a week after that he was in the new vacant downstairs apartment painting it in the Swiss Coffee lol he said Barbara it’s a good color. I said I told you, my “friend” Allison is a “Stan” for this color 😊😂 her whole house is this color in different finishes. lol 😂 🤣🤣 he’s letting take the cost of the supplies and paint off my rent payment for next month, lol.

A really easy way to remove wallpaper is to steam it! Not sure if they exist in the US but here in the UK you can get wall paper steamers that work brilliantly

After scouring the wall paper you could have taken Downey put in spray bottle with warm water and it peels off real easy . Your house is looking really great !

The best way for the paper layer is to soak with water and leave it for ten minutes or longer then come back with your scraper and it should come off easier. Hope this helps.

Hi, I'm from the UK and wallpaper regularly. The easiest way to remove wallpaper is firstly to remove the vinyl top layer( often comes of in one piece). Then soak the underneath layer, let it dry then soak it again using warm water containing washing up liquid, then it almost falls off.

My house was built in 1984. I had wallpaper in at least the kitchen and the bathrooms. I did not remove any wallpaper as it was adhered really well to the wall. I used a hardener over the wallpaper texturize over the hardener put a primer over the texture, and then paint at the wall.

Such a smart idea! I like that this project gave me a chance to experiment with mudding since we have a lot of that in our future & this wall won't be here forever so it was a safe place to get some practice in!

Mudding sucks but putting up drywall, taping, mudding, sanding, and mudding some more sucks more. The sanding makes such an awful mess is the reason I hired experts. It wasn’t as expensive as I expected, and three rooms were done in one day.

Hi Allison, do you not know about wallpaper strippers? You have a plastic square that has steam (very hot ) coming out from the machine that you fill with cold, warm just water switch it on and it starts to spit and spluter then put it on the wall and the heat and steam bubbles the paper and it comes away so quickly. I know that you can get them in the USA as my brother in law lives in Kennesaw Georgia and he has one for his work, he does home renovations, so if you need a very very good worker he is called TRADE MARK his name is Mark Salmon. Good luck I love watching you and your little family Maddie is so dam cute and I can not wait to find out what the bump is and the name. Love to you all
