youre not the only one. Basically anyone whose has play NES during their childhood (including me) will feel the same way. While anyone who have not play NES during their childhood but playing PS1 will feel PS1 was the best console ever for their childhood.
Fun fact: The NES Advantage controller's slow motion feature would cause this game to malfunction. The stage backgrounds would start to become completely deformed, placing walls where they shouldn't be and such. It could even end up affecting the bosses, since many of them were technically moving backgrounds they would sometimes end up with chunks of wall attached to them :0
Back in the days when the economy was a little better me and my brother drove to the US from Canada to buy this game. It was much cheaper over there. We came back with a few titles like Life Force, Contra, The Guardian Legend and a few others i can't recall. We played life force to death and could finish it without dying in the end.
Yes, because women usually don't have these skills or simply don't bother to put such a cool video for others to enjoy. That said, now you can fuck off with your political correctness.
Sol Elraanis The level 6 music was the perfect final level music. For a sport game, it would have been the perfect music for the last part of the game.
I loved the action, the graphics and especially the music of this game when I was a kid. But damn, that ending sure was a letdown. "That's IT?!" - 8 year old me.
Really nice seeing two players that really know the game play co-op. Never had too much of a chance to play with other people that knew what they were doing when I played.
This game here brought my brother and I closer as a team growing up. You have to work as a team with the cool part is when you die you can give your lives to your brother.
I love this game so much. Man, what happened to great challenging games like this. Games now are just plain easy. What blows my mind as well is that gamers today only think about graphics and only play FPS games. All they got in their heads is nothing but COD. Actually, I'm SICK of CoD!
Jason W. I not agree. I think Life Force is a bad game because you need to memorize the whole levels. How it suppose I know the pink blocks are going to fill the screen? And what about those flames in the third level? Good shooters are Contra, Jackal, the first Gradius or even Galaga, this one is a frustrating memorize game
First Gradius ? No Way ! Fuck Gradius 1-4, and it's fucking restart points ! In Life Force & Gradius 5 you die, and respawn. The Restart Points in R-Type, Gradius 1-4 ruin the complette games ! You die, and start and all powerups are gone ! All the work is ruined ! And you dont need to memorize the levels in Life Force (but it helps) the flame level is easy if you are smart enough to keep your self in the middle, and you need to be fast. What pink blocks ? All what you need is forward thinking and good reflexes, just shoot and go straight !
Life Force (Salamander) is Legendary and ABSOLUTELY AMAZING on the Nintendo With ABSOLUTELY AWESOME graphics and STUNNING gameplay ABSOLUTELY STUNNING levels and STUNNING Boss battles This is a classic shoot em up with a vengeance 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
I can remember being around six years old and renting this game waaaay back in the day, and because I was so young at the time I wasn't allowed to play it until the next day cause it was after my bedtime when I got back home (which in those days was around 8:30) :)
This was/is my favorite NES game ever, can finish it without any death and even with no powerups, but it took alot of "up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a, start" to practice :D
I remember play Lifeforce is one of my all-time favorite Konami NES Game beside Gradius, Castlevania and Contra especially my all-time favorite Stinger. But I played Famicom Version Port called Salamander when I was a 8 year old child since since 2009.
@Alexander Simpson Flickering is one of several effects that often don't translate from old CRTs to modern graphics cards -- they're just designed too differently. Add emulator quirks and RUclips's compression to the mix, and even more can get scrambled. In this vid I think they kept their shields most of the time, it's just that the sprite was sometimes rendered wrongly (as a normal ship) for these reasons. Same thing can happen with the invisibility potion in Castlevania for example.
I like to think that one day Mike Portnoy heard the time signature of 11:14 - 14:57 and thought to himself "cool beat, i wondor if I could play that?" and that day a legend was born.
Nice play through! I would like to see a video of the harder difficulties sometime. Me and my friend played this game for hours and hours until we finaly got though it. But after the finish the game starts of and is harder. First the rock arms start to shoot & then everything gets faster for every lapse & and some bosses move in different patterns. People who think this game is easy should give that a try :) You two who made this video would still slay though.
Played this game so much with a cousin... We could play it without dying like on a script, super optimized to get as strong as possible as fast as possible with the "full kit" ( double laser upgrades, double missiles upgrades, 1 option each, 1x speed or 2 depending on mood, force and then finally one force charge standing by ready to go if we lost the current one active ), then once game was over through new game+, over and over again eventually. Fun times...
This game is so hard ! No wonder their's a coop. mode. Though I still think Gradius is the hardest game on NES of this categorie. The music is really beautifull here though, I play a lot on the piano (especially last level in 12/8 in really nice !), it sounds wonderfull. :)
Me too, I only play a few recent games, but if someone tells me what kind of games I play, my answer is retro games like the SNES, NES... well you know what I mean.
I need a shooting partner please !!! This is such an amazing game !!! One of DA best, in the world, EVER MADED !!!! Let's kill some bosses and dragons .... !!!!
I have that game but the title is Salamander not LifeForce for the 8-Bit Nintendo Famicom system. Salamander's ending have end credits while LifeForce don't (25:43).
Oh man, how I missed playing this classic game. It's still a shame that I can't beat this completely without using the classic Konami cheat, though. I will someday. Also, the music of this game is also one of my all time favorites with stages 3 and 5 as my top two themes. Ah, good times.
This game is so hard to beat. I always get to the part half way through the thirst level when the screen starts turning into letters and numbers and the screen freezes and I can't figure out how to get past that part. How can you unfereeze the screen and finish the level? Help!
weird...why only one option? is it limited to just one in 2-player mode? i know for a fact you can get two in 1-player...figured it would be the same for 2-p. also, curious why no level 2 missiles until stage 4? next, do it using ripple instead of laser, haha!
(continued) games back then to keep ppl interested so they dont blow through the game in a single playthrough, nowadays games last longer then the usual 8 or so stages they had in the old days so they now have a better solution to make games last.
This was a huge step up from Gradius, which isn't BAD, just too repetitive, and no actual bosses. Then came Abadox, which is pretty much on par with this one. The bosses in Life Force are way too easy with 2 players, especially when fully powered.
I used to play this with my brother, it's been 7 years since he passed away... thanks for this longplay
Am i the only one who thinks that gaming in the old NES days was a lot more fun than today?

You're not alone
youre not the only one. Basically anyone whose has play NES during their childhood (including me) will feel the same way.
While anyone who have not play NES during their childhood but playing PS1 will feel PS1 was the best console ever for their childhood.
Indeed
It's always more fun to watch when there are two champions cooperating with one another. Well done, warriors!
Fun fact: The NES Advantage controller's slow motion feature would cause this game to malfunction. The stage backgrounds would start to become completely deformed, placing walls where they shouldn't be and such. It could even end up affecting the bosses, since many of them were technically moving backgrounds they would sometimes end up with chunks of wall attached to them :0
Ahhhh good old 80's nostalgia.....Life Force one of my favorite classic #NES/NINTENDO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM games of ALL time😎😆😎😆😎😆😎
Not only u buddy we too
Back in the days when the economy was a little better me and my brother drove to the US from Canada to buy this game. It was much cheaper over there. We came back with a few titles like Life Force, Contra, The Guardian Legend and a few others i can't recall.
We played life force to death and could finish it without dying in the end.
+mephisto sanchez Man, those are three of my favourite NES games. Life Force and Contra were classic, but so many missed out on TGL!
Always more exciting when 2 experts cooperate to beat a classic game. Congrats, men!
DID YOU JUST ASSUME THEIR GENDER?!!
Yes, because women usually don't have these skills or simply don't bother to put such a cool video for others to enjoy.
That said, now you can fuck off with your political correctness.
Wamauro Dentes [boka loka] Women suck at everything except cookies.
Bruh 7 year old me would accept a high score no death challenge with you any day, play for your lunch money 😂
@@persona83 lol
This is how me and my brother used to beat this game. Brings back memories
Good game with awesome music. Thanks for memories.
Sol Elraanis I liked the music of levels 1 and 5, but the level 6 music was my favorite one in Life Force.
Sol Elraanis The level 6 music was the perfect final level music. For a sport game, it would have been the perfect music for the last part of the game.
The Stage 6 music is the best of the bunch and the boss music in this game.
All I wanna say is, thanks for licensing this, Nintend. True classic.
I loved the action, the graphics and especially the music of this game when I was a kid. But damn, that ending sure was a letdown. "That's IT?!" - 8 year old me.
@Channel07 Especiffically an actual credits roll plus a shot of the pilot (whit a twist at the end) and the credits song actually ends
I absolutely loved this great and scary game as a kid, and still do. Probably still the best shooter ever.
The video made the boss fights seem easy. Trust me. They are not.
This game is part of the Gradius series, check them out sometime if you like this.
Oddly satisfying to see Coop players that show skills and never lose a life in a entire run.
Respect
wow... takes me back... instant classic indeed
Thanks 4 uploading this video, i used to play this game when i was a child. :D
Very impressive gentlemen!
Really nice seeing two players that really know the game play co-op. Never had too much of a chance to play with other people that knew what they were doing when I played.
Seriously impressive!!! Nicely done!!
What's tight is the fact the music makes you wait before you hear the shooting. "Patience," says Lifeforce for regular Nintendo.
This game here brought my brother and I closer as a team growing up. You have to work as a team with the cool part is when you die you can give your lives to your brother.
Always been an amazing shoot em up but when watching a 2 player game, just sublime here..
One of my all time favorites. Me and my brother played this game...if it's more then 200 houndred times, I wouldn't be far of
One of my all time favorites!
Damn! That was some really good coordination between Monty and Stan on the escape scene, Cubex.
I love this game and the music is awesome.
So that's the game from which I knew that music on the first level. Thanks a bunch, guys. And good job. I never got past Level 3 xD
I love this game so much. Man, what happened to great challenging games like this. Games now are just plain easy. What blows my mind as well is that gamers today only think about graphics and only play FPS games. All they got in their heads is nothing but COD. Actually, I'm SICK of CoD!
I mean, in the old times most of ppl's head is nothing but DOOM...
Easily the best shooter on the NES.
Jason W. I know right!
Jason W. I not agree. I think Life Force is a bad game because you need to memorize the whole levels. How it suppose I know the pink blocks are going to fill the screen? Had forgot that game :D . I finished that game when i had close to 10 years old. But of course i was not good like you guys. Really impressive!
I can remember being around six years old and renting this game waaaay back in the day, and because I was so young at the time I wasn't allowed to play it until the next day cause it was after my bedtime when I got back home (which in those days was around 8:30) :)
Well goody for you :)
One of Konami's greatest games
Stage 2 and stage 3 are my jam.
Love this game!

i like that orange space jet in lifeforce
I Love stage 2 theme ❤😻
Yeah, it's awesome!
I agree!
It's like an adventure theme with... friends.
I like to think that one day Mike Portnoy heard the time signature of 11:14 - 14:57 and thought to himself "cool beat, i wondor if I could play that?" and that day a legend was born.
I played this a lot!!
great game!
El Viento me too

Miss my gaming companion. We had some good times on Gradius and Raiden III. What a difference 2,187 miles make. Sad face.
Love that game tnx!
WildPinkSalmon me too
Pha cuối kinh khủng thật!!

How they managed to get through Stage 3 without losing a single life is beyond me.
Right that's when Iose mant lives
one of my first games ever....
Im surprised that Konami didn't bring the SCC's technology over to the NES this and many other games would have benefited greatly from it.
The SCC mapper would have probably stayed in Japan though.
I found myself watching play wandering the beginning and that's it when I start falling player-to-player one has the advantage.
In the Gradius games and Salamander/Life force games if it supports co-op you can only have 4 options which is split between the 2 ships.
My favorite boss in this game is the Dragon in the third level of Life Force for the NES.
i like playing the orange vic viper in lifeforce
ES UN HERMOSO JUEGO
24:43-24:46 Where the players tell the final boss to "sit down and shut up."
This game is so hard ! No wonder their's a coop. mode. Though I still think Gradius is the hardest game on NES of this categorie.

NES players are the true pro gamers
YES THAT WAS BOSS STATUS AT THE END GAME...
And the alien mastermind is...a giant navel orange?!?🤣😂
I'm just guessing, the Egyptian theme in Level 5 was inspired by Stargate
the boss theme music I like it it looks like force enforcement
Nes games had the best songs
first time to see the ending of the two players

Oynamayalı 3-4 yıl olmuş lan. Sırf ölürdüm bu oyunda.
Fuckin aye. Good form both of you.
I've seen 2 different Seal of Quality stickers for this cartridge game. Could someone explain why?
I have that game but the title is Salamander not LifeForce for the 8-Bit Nintendo Famicom system. Salamander's ending have end credits while LifeForce don't (25:43).
Life Force is pretty much US version of Salamander. This one only allows 2 options instead of 4 like Salamander.
RsAOfAnt Ron cũng mê game NES giống mình à :3
=))
bobskie321 life force is the best
Play it again after you finished,it's harder
Oh man, how I missed playing this classic game. It's still a shame that I can't beat this completely without using the classic Konami cheat, though. I will someday.
Also, the music of this game is also one of my all time favorites with stages 3 and 5 as my top two themes.

David Simon do you tried to move the cartridge a bit?
you miss some lives specially in stage 1?... great playing
this game is scared for these stages
game geanie helped me get through it when i was being abused as a child in 91
level 3 always used to kick my ass. whenever i got past that though it was kinda easy
Wait wait wait...
At 8:15 those are not Bucky O'Hare like flames? 🤔🤔🤔
Wow!
you could get up to 3 options in the Japanese version, the "Salamander" In this version you could only get 2
Shields up. Mmm none got though. Goes back to bed.
26minute that a good time i think. i played alone and got 23minute beat time
Ils sont forts, ces joueurs-là.
So this is the game made me stop eating chicken for 5 months straight.

meh meant shield, not force

I would swear to god you could take double-laser and double-missiles when playing?
La musica del nivel 3 esta muy buena
Juan carlos Rodriguez y la del 1

I used to stomp this game.. over and over again. I could beat this with my eyes closed.

Hmm, it reminds me of Contra, but plane version =).
wat if the actual commandos are the pilots🤷♂️
