    Great review. TC 3 is most intrusive. 1 is least. Plus you can turn the bugger off!

    Nice test. From this video I got the real picture of this bike dynamic.

    This bike pulls strongly low down. It's the long-stroke K5 engine.
    Excellent review. You ride it properly.

    Yea they nicked the swing arm too. This bike is approx the same as my previous sv650x. The brakes on that bike were horrendous, not my GSX S1000Z. There is a bit of travel between pressure and bite. A lot can be adjusted out and then with a shorty travel and brake trailing my God the Brembos are just great (the 2018 has upgraded brake lines).Several times i thought i ain't gonna stop in time but i always did. It's a two finger affair for me. i fitted a $45 fly screen from china, the Italians wanted 6x + that amount and it works well at speed to 100mph and still looks naked.Yes a lot of power, so much so it will leave the R behind initially until it's higher rpm reins in the low\mid range of the S. Actually K5 - K8 with as you say different tuning but many other upgrades along the way. Turn to setting 2 TC? Damn turn it off and u will be spinning up with low slide drifts and lifting front end out of corners like there is no tomorrow and there probably isn't a tomorrow unless u really know ur shit. Yea long distance ur correct, i got sore lower arms from my 650x clip ons but not this. With a Fat Bar setting of 1.5 i had no discomfort after 400kms non stop (except for fuel) and i'm quite short. Yea i get the Dunlops sticky on a fine day but in the wet u had better be on TC 2 or as i prefer 3. It still steps out when provoked but TC takes over very quickly. Well no the S1000Z is the best looking especially with a decat full carbon Yoshi. Yea i paid that with a Yoshimura and tail tidy fitted. Yea the earlier bikes were jerky, 2017 and by 2018 had it beat though. Getting use to it was as u say the key. Shorty yes, bar end mirrors for me no. I like them to fit between the Fat Bar dimensions as all to easy to collect other mirrors when lane splitting\filtering. Yea tons of power it will even lift in 3rd when provoked. No it looks like a bat outa hell with it's fang like positional LEDS. Some call the Z model 'the phantom'. Nice first ride review you got most of the key attractions right so good on u.

    How is the throttle response and everything else compared to the Kawasaki z1000? Which one would you buy?

      Or neither?

      dry509 id probably buy the Suzuki. Throttle response isn't really a major issue.

      I own a Z1000 and have test ridden this bike. I love my Z1000 but it does have its shortfalls, this bike makes up for them. Most emphasized on the suspension, this bikes suspension feels...suspended, the Z feels like wood for rear suspension. The Z feels more sporty in my opinion, it pushes your nuts into the tank with its forward sloping seat encouraging you to scoot your arse back in the seat and lean into the bars. The GSXS feels much more upright, likely just because it's seat is more flat and doesn't encourage you to "tuck". The seat is comfy and the bike didn't seem at all intimidating. The throttle is a bit on/off but with some wrist work and maybe some ECU work it will probably be fantastic as anything else in its class.

    Did you not notice the l/h bar end had gone awol lol... I've got this bike and having a major issue with the low speed jerky throttle response...but a brilliant bike in all other areas.

      Good spot! Check the TPS thread on the forums and maybe look at having it checked or adjusted.

    Hows the throttle response? I'm reading reports that its a bit abrupt/jerky/on-off. Thanks for the review.

    • @ThrillsOfLife
      @ThrillsOfLife  8 лет назад

      It's difficult to get use to at slow speeds. It's not a make or break thing for me but yes it's a little jerky. Higher speed riding is fine.

    • @layhervamp
      @layhervamp 8 лет назад +1

      desmoface. I have the F. I've had the ECM changed, had the primary TPS repositioned and its sorted it. I've now had a full yoshi fitted, bmc air filter and rapid bike. It now rides mint. Pre mod 143 rwbhp, post mod 152 rwbhp, so 175ish at the crank.

    • @dry509
      @dry509 8 лет назад +1

      layhervamp please advise who did the ecu and what does the tops reposition do?

    • @layhervamp
      @layhervamp 8 лет назад +1

      Dry509, that was auto text correcting for me. It should have said TPS. By adjusting its position you fool the bike into thinking it's never been throttled off, which means the ECM doesn't stop fuelling the bike. It's the on/off fuelling at constant throttle which gives the jerky ride. It's because of tight emission regulations that the bike is set to fuel off when you throttle off. This never happened with carbs on a bike.

      Stock, with am early 2016 model, the throttle response was reasonable. It's definitely TOUCHY, but it's not on-off. Since purchasing it in July, i've got the ECU re-flashed and it is SILKY smooth now and an absolute blast to ride.
      Next week it gets a good suspension package put into it (Matris Cartridges and Wilbers Rear shock), and hopefully it'll handle like a dream with my fat ass on it (slightly heavy, so the stock suspension isn't enough).

    im just wondering why are you covering you speed? show us the acceleration looks fun!. i mean if im the magestrate (if ever) i would just get me calculator and calculate the speed travel over the km covered.

      throttle is fine in peak hour traffic if you know how to control the throttle properly , eg, not for new riders.

    Sucks it’s cold out gotta be in doors watching riots and others riding instead of riding my own 2016 GSX-S1000L6 in matte gray/black! We call mine the Virus 🦠! Cause I drove 350 miles of brutal construction roads, and riots to get the bike in the middle of the pandemic. 💪🏼 seen some cars burning at old a burnt down gas station off some of the sketch exits! I stopped at one lit my cig off a burning tree limb next to the burned out car, and black dude just mean mugged me and went on. 😳😷😂 She is safely in my garage with the largest chain you ever seen, and a level 10 lock, cost me some coin to chain her up! I put a medium t shirt over the chain to save my paint and I chain it to the Garage door brackets which are heavy gauge steel to! And it’s 8 foot from where we sleep so good luck getting through all that before I catch your ass 😂 What really sick is had to replace my A/C condenser after getting home! It was the bumpy roads and no doubt my bad driving that killed it! But it works even better now!
