A Country Christmas Tree With Homemade Ornaments!

- I hope you all enjoy as we make homemade ornaments and decorations for our Christmas tree! And come along as we go and get our Christmas tree and then decorate it! It’s a family tradition to go out in the woods and find our Christmas tree!
It is nothing fancy :-) but it is done with love!
Here is the recipe for the Salt dough ornaments
1 cup flour ,1/2 cup salt , 1/4 -1/2 cup warm water
Kneed together for 3 to 5 minutes. Roll out to between 1/8 and 1/4 inch thick. Use a cookie cutter of your choice to cut out shapes. Place on parchment paper lined cookie sheets. Make holes in the shapes with a straw to hang them. Bake at 210° for an hour or until hard.
Your children will look back on this in the future and realize how blessed they were to be from such a loving family! As we celebrate the birth of baby Jesus, it can’t be done any better than with family! May peace be with you and Merry Christmas to all of you!

I love your family. Your spirit of love for God and others shines through. I am Mennonite and grew up making homemade decorations. Like you we didn’t have a tree but we did celebrate Christmas. Today we have a tree but try to keep Christ central. I love your “rustic country tree”. It is perfect. God bless you and yours.

This Christmas tree honors our Savior. It’s beautifully decorated by a family’s love for the Savior and each other. 🎄
I'm curious. Most traditional Christians in Holland celebrate Christmas but do not do Christmas trees. They see it as some kind of idol which has nothing to do with Jesus. But you say that the tree honors our Savior, so in what way do you mean that?

Brings back so many memories of when I was a lil girl we wld go as a family out to the woods and my Daddy wld cut the tree me and my 2 Sister's wld pick out..... We made homemade ornaments to go on it cause we were very poor and didn't have money to buy beautiful ornaments like we have these days...... Oh those were the days.... Now I get to make memories with all 9 of my grandbabies......
That is wonderful to see a family having fun doing things together. It doesn't matter if there is a little friction we are all human. But when there is such love for one another all is well in the aftermath. It was wonderful to both you parents walking holding hands. My husband and I always held hands too and got laughed at and words said how silly it was. When the couple love each other It is sweet and kind. You are a lovely family. Your children have a wonderful example to grow up with. Lord bless you all and all your relatives too.

The tree and family time put into the celebration of Our Christ Child coming to earth is beautiful. I am glad you celebrated it to the fullest as it should be. If we cannot celebrate His Birth, whose can we celebrate?
He is the Father of all and we all celebrate our own earthly fathers birthday. I love that you embrace it in such a natural and full of family life celebratory way. Home made things and that is how it should be and it so reminded me of myself and six siblings decorating our trees. We had little material things growing up and we didn't miss what we didn't have....and life was easier and less complicated. :-)

This was such a wonderful video ! I love the homemade ornaments and paper chains .I always loved picking out a tree with my dad. Some years he would it one down and others years he would dig one up with the roots and replant it on our property after Christmas. Great memories! I am happy to say that the books I ordered written by each of your fathers arrived safely . I am going to wait til after Christmas to read them since they are a present to myself! Merry Christmas!!!! I just found your channel and I love it!!! That's the most beautiful tree ever!!! By the way Douglas Firs are my favorite but I'm now allergic to real pine trees : ( so artificial trees for me. Our favorite ornaments have always been our handmade ornaments with so many from family and friends over the years, after 39 years almost 40 to the same love of my life. This year made me realize it was time to go back to those simpler times of making our holiday and home decor with what we have on hand and with what we can repurpose and it has been the best feeling of contentment and true joy. Make sure you date your ornaments you will be so glad you did as you look back at them over the years to come. All of your ornaments are beautiful and I also love the way the Savior Ornament came out he did such a great job with his lettering very creative and unique, so fun!! Merry Christmas!!

I love your tree! I don't have the possibility to cut down my own tree, but every year I buy a real tree. My ornaments are all made out of wood or other natural materials and I have a box field with Christmas balls. All knitted (Norwegian style) by myself, my mother, my grandmother and some ants.Some of them more than 50 years old and every year it's a joy to hang them in my tree. Every item is a wonderful memorie.

Merry Christmas to all of you! I am so glad you found that Douglas Fir, here in Washington, DC it would have cost a lot of money for one of those. All you had to do was cut it. I hope you keep it well watered so that it will not shed needles. It looks perfect. I love the homemade ornaments! I feel our Lord would have chosen this tree--your ornaments reflect the reason for the season as it were. Very important.

Perfect tree for a rustic home. Have you every made German bells out of cardstock or heavier construction paper? I have the pattern if you would like it sent in an envelope. They would fit in well with your homemade tree decorations. Loved watching Avalon get decorated with the chain by her brothers. ❤
