Nice to see they're shipping -- I'm in the September batch, so will enjoy your coverage until then.

Ya it took a while to get here but there is a shortage. I’m looking forward to testing it out more

Good stuff man, keep it up. Looking forward to the UDM replacement lessons. Also curious how things still work on the Ubiquiti side

Nice video, waiting for the next part.
I just bought UDMP a few months before, might switch to a pfSence if my pocket allows (in a couple of months ).

The main reason I’m switching my business side of things to PFsense if the faster VPN . Also there is a known issue with UDM pro and pppoe which limits your bandwidth.
I have a 1Gb connection but only get about 600Mbps. Will still always be doing Unifi videos and I think the UDM pro is great for home and small business who don’t require advanced routing

Def want to see a PFsense integration video with your Unifi equipment. Looking to upgrade my network to a 10GB/POE setup, but want VPN (PIA) functionality if I can set it all up correctly. That's scaring the crap out of me right now haha. Great video as always!

What about the uplink to unifi l3 port do you set it as default for trunking to pass all vlan and also be able to get to pfsensw GUI from another network vlan

Great video and nice to see something different which you spoke about during your live chat. The one question I have and only because I’m a newbie. Are you saying you can use this instead of UDM-Pro?

    • @MactelecomNetworks
      @MactelecomNetworks  2 года назад +1

      Hey,
Well this will be acting as the firewall so no need for the UDM pro. I will have to configure my Unifi switch and access points from another Unifi controller. Either cloud key or cloud controller like hostifi

Hey quick question, got Netgate 1100 and found out the hard way that it can't handle 1GB WAN circuit, I'm getting 280-90MB at best (also running PFblocker, without PFblocker doesn't make big difference actually) just curious if your 6100 is really capable of handling 1GB WAN? found article online that they even propose 7xxx range to handle 1GB circuits??? which sound crazy to me

Does pfsense provide the option to add bandwidth limits on vlans?

I believe you can do it with traffic shaping. Will be looking into it for a vidoe

Hi, any idea for a good router that I can use for load balancing 2 gig wan pppoe connection? I use unifi dream machine pro for failover now, thx

      Hi ,
The firewall in this video would work or you can get a SG-3100

Did you give up on the 6100 ? I'm not finding the followup video you spoke of . I bought the 6100 , im trying to figure out how to point multiple lan ports to use the same wan connection

Yup but a great piece of hardware. No doubt you could build it cheaper

@@MactelecomNetworks yes, but something so nice and sexy as the 6100 is hard to build :) I'd love one but the price is so high. HP prodesk 600 g4 with 8 gigs ram and a dual port 10gig nic is way cheaper and faster :)

Really the appliances they sell are for people or companies that don't want to build their own. I have a PFsense router I have been using for a long time that is much more powerful than this appliance and also cheaper. The cool thing with PFsense is you can build your own with the spec that you want using off the shelf hardware. I think you also get support when you buy it from Netgate but that can also be paid if you build one I believe.

UDM pro sucks. NO NAT ! cant run email servers, or assign MORE THAN ONE static public IP. this is an insane let down. boooooooooooo
