Oh its been a while since this, but I don't remember it being too long. Just messing around and seeing if the bird will come down, and a couple save states doing the damage boost. There's really just not a lot of good homes for it in Speedruns. Its faster than going around or doing the Dry Canyon Jump trick, but both of those paths have gems that you wouldn't want to miss out on. It fun to do, though.
