Great DIY video thank you, I am coming off Mercedes GL350 diesel to GMC Yukon XL Denali with Duramax. on my Benz I used liquimoly engine flush and after adding new oil I added ceratec friction modifier. I am planning on doing same on this duramax.
@growing with the Gilberts what percentage did you let it get to before your oil change? I’m at 48% and figure it’s about 4K-5k since the last oil change.
That 3/4 to one turn means spin the filter until the rubber gasket makes contact, then 3/4 to one turn. Also, you should really pre fill your filter, especially since it’s a vertical filter and easy to do. Your oil system isn’t dry when you start the engine that way.
It's definitely good advice I personally never pre fill oil filters. I understand the dry start thing but it's never been an issue and I've done about 2 million km worth of oil changes on different ecodiesels in the family, 1 cummins and now this GM. Great for fire starter....
Why dont you drop off the car and pick up after.
Mostly time also I don't usually trust mechanics to work on my stuff. IE I bought a new 2500 6.6 duramax and had an argument with the parts guy as he told me three times it takes 6 liters of oil lol. Takes 10.
Did he just say DEXTROSE?
what is it? dextose? cant remember
Amsoil has exactly zero DEXOS certs.
Oh yeah ?
Finding the correct oil is a bitch the dealership doesn’t even have it
Yeah it's still not easy. It's nuts.
Just voided your warranty with that oil. It’s not “certified” Dexosd.
The warranty is only void if the motor breaks and they can prove your oil was the issue. Stop fear mongering. Also where's the approved list at ?
Why bother to use a torque wrench! Maybe you are a lot stronger or weaker? If you are going to make content please make sure you are using the correct parts and tools! BTW it cracks me up the guy buys a $80,000 truck and brings it to his son-in-law to do the first oil change! What did he save? What did he risk?
I've saved several thousands between oil, fuel, transmission, diffs etc. Never mind parts changes. I just bought a 100k 2500 big duramax at4 and did my first oil change on it. I've never had a single issue on any vehicle.
Absolutely nothing wrong with after market parts. Most of the time the same factory makes several different brands of filters etc. Hey if you need a friend to talk to, just let me know I'll be here to listen.
$50 per liter?!?! So about $350 for just the oil, every oil change?!? 😨😨😨
Yeah I almost had a heart attack. I asked the rep I said are you sure ? That's impossible. It's new oil so I'm sure it'll come down eventually.
I just picked up acdelco oil for $16.95 a litre here in Ontario from my local GM dealer.
@@chrisvisser3919 really where at ?? We couldn't even get the proper oil out of our dealership in Niagara Falls
@@GilbertGardens from a dealer in Arnprior Ontario, close to my house. They knew right away everything i needed, just did the fuel filter to.
I paid $6.11 per qt down here in Texas last week.
Oil is dark as shit
EGR pumps soot back into combustion chamber . dirtys the oil up quick
@@GilbertGardensIt’s not the EGR. Diesel oil has always turned black, even before EGR was used on diesel engines. It’s from combustion blow by gasses getting past the piston rings and it’s completely normal.
@@KravinMoorehed yes you're right all pre emissions also have dark oil. The point was it makings it darker, with more soot faster. I can confirm my oil stayed cleaning long post EGR.
I have a deleted ecodiesel as well.
Does the LM2 pull the EGR from the exhaust before it goes through the DPF?
I know the LZ0 pull post DPF exhaust for the EGR.
Post up a video on how to change a belt driven oil pump that's at rear of the engine that has a service life of around 150k miles, in order to change it you must remove the transmission....stupid engineers 🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️
0w20 for a diesel 🤦♂️
I know its crazy.
