It's a *favorite* list, so it's what you like. Doesn't matter what we say, its personal preference. But i am suprised you didn't include Pontic Swordsmen, thought you like them. On the other hand they aren't strong, just decent, so okay i give a pass.

The two bros: Tribal Warriors and Thracian Warriors, love basing all my Tylis armies around their robust hammer and anvil partnership 7. Tarantine Cavalry 8. Bloodsworn 9. The heavy bow boiz - Cimmerians, Syrians, Cretans 10. Agrianian Axemen
I’m glad you included agrarian axmen they make for excellent range units on my macedon campaigns with thureos or hoplite mix holding wings once the cav or agrarians make it around they are done for
Getae heavy peltasts were a problem in a campaign of mine. Proved hard to catch and kill with inf and cav and made me lose time and men in the overall situation, even at melee
As someone who lives in where parthia is located, I prefer Epearian *Hellenic Royal Cavalry* over Cataphract and about melee cav, Cappadocian cav is a real gamechanger. But in terms of melee Inf, Owthsword, Spear Inf Agema Spr and Pike inf Levy pikeman are my fav, just spam levy pikes, they do almost the same as Hellenic Royal Grd

a couple units i'd put in my top 10 (in no particular order) Axe Warriors/Merc Axe Warriors: AP, decent stats, and cost effective, can usually get more than my moneys worth if used in favorable engagements. Any cheap light cav: when used well, especially as a sneaky sally in a siege defense, can make devastating attacks on enemy ranged units, have had more than a few enemies rage quit siege battles after i wiped their ranged troops with a well timed single cav sally. Gallic/Celtic/Galatian warriors: just a cheap workhorse unit, the unsung heroes of a lot of army comps Icenii Chariots: regularly can get a couple hundred kills, have even broke 1k with them once and a few more 900-999 games Thorax Hoplites: just excellent for holding, and perform really well against thorax swords for some reason
I play as Pergamon many times, both campaigns and battles, just for the Agema Spears, I absolutely love that unit. Expert Charge Defense + 80 range ammo + square + encourage and disciplined, the cheapest elite in all the game if I'm not wrong. They obviously don't win against many heavy melee units 1v1 , but if you support them properly they can make toast many units with their ammo and decent melee (they can hold their ground for awhile). Same for Illyrian Marines.
Rorarii in square formation infront of army while javelins kill everything in between , minimal losses on throw away units with very high kill count. super underrated unit
i kind of have a play style like the macedonians (infanty to hold the line and superior cavalry to sweep round and attack in the rear) with reserves to sweep round the side, so heres mine: 1. italian companion cavalry 2. princeps 3. cretean archers 3. gallic longbow
I would put some of the Roman units, like the Armored Legionary, at the top because they have crazy armor. I would also put the Galician Royal guards as well.
As a fan of Hellenic factions, I underated the thureos spears until I played as the Egyptian cus they don't have normal hoplites, and I started to spam them with archers behind my phalangites 😂
Thyreos spears good to protect your peltasts and archers behind from cavalry and also throw their spears….is one of the best support unit for your range units and also your main battle line, cause can do well against cavalry .
I have played Getae so far only once through a campaign, as i find their unit selection too boring for multiplayer to play myself, but the Peltast of them brought me through many battles. About the hoplites, picked hoplites are too expensive?
Would you please make a video about cavarly tactics especially horse archers bc factions like Parthia are mostly cav units and I personally found micro in Rome II a pain in the ass playing Parthia in comparision to playing Huns in Attila
As someone that has less then 100 hours in Total War Rome 2, even though I've watched many YTs like Apollo and JoeOnIt play the game, I feel in MP I'm always massively overmatched, or outplayed. Admittedly when the battle really gets going I get lost in the sea of microing and keeping eyes on my units, making sure they're in a good position. Does anyone have any tips or even a good beginner faction for online MP that isn't Rome??
Saba Mercenary axemen are great in campaign if you have toadies and talents you can get them for like 0 denar a turn if you have a maxed diplomat in the right skill upgrades and general skill upgrades. Edit: OH HELL YAHHHH you included the mercenary masqat’ Marauders they are the best man!!
Definitely the strongest single unit in this game are the scythian amazonian riders they are 150 range horse archers for the same price as other horse archers.

No unit is more cost-effective than Late Libyan Hoplites. 300 unit has as much armor as an elite? With decent defs and above-avg. morale for the price.. Throw them forward to absorb everything and they just won't duck off. I bring at least 4 of them every match as carthage so they can soak up literally everything and still be alive to pin-down 3x more pricey sword units.
Theuros spears are not cost effective and hard to get value on. Specially against good players. Getting 100 kills with them after using the pila is very optimistic as there stats are quite bad in combat. They can serve as a battle buddy at best
İ would argue that İllyrian marines are way better than thureos spears They have 15 accuracy to thureos spears 5 So they bassically dont miss any enemy and have better melee stats and cost 10 less
@@FightMeTotalWar you should try it against any other midtier they win almost every fight, also they have the shield wall and can tank very well with big shields that gives them big chance to block arrows. Also you should try the Noble Numidian Cavarly i tried it melee 1 vs 1 against the noble riders of tylis and they won XD

Historically enough arrows can kill cataphracts because their lower legs are unarmored

My favorite are royal cataphracts because there is no such thing as too much when armor is involved.
4:22, only Elite Slingers such as Balearic and Rhodian Slingers who have 8 AP Damage while Elite Archers such as Cretan Archers still have 4 AP.
