I have this exact model, purchased many years ago. Have had to do nothing other than replace air filters and spark plugs. After storing it for 2 years recently, I put oil and gas in it, and it started on the first pull. This mower will probably outlive me. Too bad they do not make them like this anymore, love the hydrostatic drive, and the power the motor has. When it finally loses compression, I may consider having it rebuilt, if possible, since I understand the motor is better than what is available now, due to emission requirements that came after the model I own.
If you find one, buy it! Especially the hydro one. I got one for free in 2016, it sat outside for many years prior, deck in great shape, blades all rusted up, wd-40ed it, freed it up, put some gas in, started on yhe 2nd pull, and it's been like that ever since! Quality mower
Fab mowers I had the honda hr 1950 after 20 years service it's giving up. I love that mower any idea which is now closest to it as it's discontinued. The best mowers engines ever BTW ❤
I just got one of these used to give to a friend who uses a 17" plug in Black and Decker toy. When I pull the start cord the mower travels forward. I also can not get the rear wheels to roll backward. They seem locked. Any advice would help. Trying to keep it low buck. Looks like a really well built mower though. Also where can I get a key? There seem to be a lot of different honda keys. My Model states HR215 GM. This one is electric start and missing the key. I actually have a battery just like the one it has already.
Hello there my husband has the almost same machine hr215 Honda he was saying that when he pulls the string to turn it on and it turns on but the blade is spinning and its not suppose to what could be the problem
Hello I have the same mower as yours but it starts and stops alone I change the carburetor, change the oil and I noticed that my little filter is empty on the outside why? Tx
Erik Asquith it sorta works sometimes but not all the time. The cable isn’t broken by just looking. I took the drive shaft cover off in an attempt to tighten the cable because the control arm notch and index mark on the trans case aren’t aligned with how the manual says to adjust but ran out of sunlight. also my cables appear to be a bit too long? Idk maybe just me.
Check 2 thinks. 1 the cable if is rusty it will not move or it is loose. 2 there is a pin connect the gear box to the pulley covered and secured by a rubber washer with the time the washer breaks and causes the lost of the pin. Then there is no connection. Easy fix just cut a normal size nail and it should feet
velox731 what happens when you squeeze the clutch handlebar and pull back on the mower - do the both rear wheel lock and prevent you from rolling backwards, does only 1 rear wheel lock, or do the rear wheels rotate freely?
I lost that drive cover 20 years ago. nothing stops these things. bought mine in Mobile in late 80's or early 90's. best product I have ever own.

Thank you for your reply, after a little investigation, I adjusted the clutch cable and added hydrostatic oil. Working pretty good.

I was just given an HR195 HX but can't find a manual for it; the HR195PDA one I found is not a blade clutch model. Any suggestions?
My buddies got one for free. Rusty looking but I may grab it
I have one of those, definitely feature rich, i like it, but the cast aluminum deck sucks. Rocks blow right through them.
I have the same mower except my has a key electric start very rare.

Nice machine and demo, I know those thottle cables are about 50 bucks, from Honda.

Looks like you need to buy the recoil mechanism too.
Do yo have any suggestions for why my hr215hxa will not self propel?
Ricky Lam if the drive cable is not broken and the drive shaft is rotating, then the transmission may be worn out.

Low on hydraulic fluid, check it out near the front of the mower...

When was it produced?
How do i get the flyweel off?
I have one exactly like yours, my hydrostatic does not engage. What tips do you have for me? Thanks!
