@@gfd135zxc Divine eating one of your fragile charms counts as not having that charm for completion purposes. Only other place where this can happen is if you banish the Grimm Troupe, which makes you lose Grimmchild. Though, you quickly gain Carefree Melody.
Oh, and btw, if you banish Grimm while Divine has eaten one of your charms, that charm appears on the ground where her tent once was (it's still a fragile charm).

33 attempts wow! When I fought nkg it took me so many tries that by the time I beat him it was just pure muscle memory and my brain just kinda blanked out lol

The game is what tools you are given. That's like saying shade dash is cheating because you get i-frames.
NKG is easily one of the game's best bosses.
It's the easiest (and most accessible) of the game's 3 'Super-Bosses' (the other 2 being PV and AbsRad)
It's one of those bosses that WILL stump players encountering him for the 1st time, as he's SIGNIFICANTLY harder than anything the game has presented up until this point (but you're not completely unprepared, having practiced vs his easier form; Regular Troup Master Grimm). But once mastered, this fight is actually easier than some other high-end fights in this game (GPZ, AscMarkoth, SoB), as well as some other more RNG bosses (Looking at you Oblobbles).
Once mastered, is one of the most enjoyable fights in the game. Every single of of his attacks are readable, reliably dodgeable, and has a counter-attack opening. If you have Quick Focus there are plenty of healing opportunities, but without you can only safely heal when he staggers (turns into bats). You can squeeze in heals during the floor spike attack and after the 4th flame pillar if 1) you start healing fast enough, and 2) he doesn't follow up with the dive attack right after. That attack comes at you the fastest. If he follows up with that attack, you WILL get caught if you're attempting to heal without Quick Focus.
There will always be those who will say NKG is easy (and he kinda is, once mastered), but if you defeat him, you've just conquered the first major hurdle among HKs end/post-game challenges and deserves all the praise and recognition for the impressive feat.
I agree with everything save for the fact that I think he's WAY harder than PV (having beaten them and abs rad on ascended, working on those two for radiant). PV's attacks are less telegraphed and come out faster, but he has not a single attack that can't be dodged with a jump. So you don't really need to pay that much attention to exactly what move he's doing, because you can just jump whenever he moves (unless he disappears, in which case he's teleporting. But that should be obvious.) He also has way less attacks than nkg, two of which he doesn't even start the fight with.

@@black_nyello7663 I thinks thats because you did PV before NKG. The fights work really similar, so knowing how to do NKG helps, so thats why you struggled the most with NKG, because its gearing you towards the other 2. If you were to fight PV before hand I do believe you die a lot more, since the attacks and timings work so differently than THK.
@@frogsman383 Maybe so, but even now, having mastered the first two fights (I've beaten abs rad on ascended + p5 but I can't really say I've "mastered" it... the ascended clear was mostly luck lol) I still find NKG much more difficult than PV
@@frogsman383 yeahhhh... I'm still working on how to consistently dodge certain abs rad overlapping attacks (looking at you sword wall + rain). As for the other two, it's only a matter of time really. I've gotten within one hit of a no-hit run multiple times (before getting hit once near the end... sadge)

Seeing Smant learn the Zote fight was great because that’s exactly how I felt when I was first playing. It’s very difficult but it can be mastered, and it’s a lot of fun. I also like that he started using descending dark on the attack where Zote falls through the floor and from the ceiling because that’s the same solution I came up with
Idk what you're talking about, all I saw Smant do was spam D Dive. If you call that learning the fight you and I have very different descriptions of learning.

the number of times Smallant repeatedly disses sharp shadow makes me want to kill bosses using nothing but sharp shadow purely out of spite.

Me, but replace Sharp Shadow with Steady Body.
Admittedly not the most useful for bosses since you're constantly on the move, but for exploration and the Colosseum where your knockback can make you slip right off platforms and into enemies/spikes? Goated Charm.
@@ShycoWar Steady Body can be very good against bosses, especially if you know what you are doing with it, I beat pure vessel hitless with steady body, yet have like a 50% success rate on attuned without it

Nkg is easily my favorite boss in the game. Got it for the first time in like 30 minutes, and i beat it radiant before i managed normal grimm radiant
sometimes nkg definitely seems easier than normal grimm 😂 you get so used to the former's patterns that you take so many stupid hits from grimm bc of assuming him to be faster than what he is

First time I beat NKG I think I had a heal build. Now I fight him with an offensive build and beat him Radiant by having an offensive overcharmed build. Favorite boss in the game, so difficult to learn but so satisfying to master

3:34:24 for anyone watching late, this was my build against NKG.
grimmchild, Strength, Quick slash, NMG, long nail.
Prior to this I used a max health build with grimm, Joni's blessing, Lifeblood core, Heart simply to practice NKG's patterns. After that i used Grimm, Strength, Quick slash, NMG, sharp shadow.
Sharp shadow was my attempt to safely dash betqeen the flame pillars, but later on i realized i coule simply wait for the second pillar to spawn, hit a great slash on NKG, shade dash to the other side of NKG (which causes a flame pillar to spawn where you great slashed), then move below NKG to get 1-2 nail hits as the 4th and last flame pillar spawns where you ended your dash. So I dropped Sharp Shadow for Long Nail to get more consistent hits after dash slashing into the flame bats.
Smant likes to heal so I expected him to struggle when he brought Spore Shroom. The only SAFE time to heal-without healing charms like Shape of Unn and Quick Focus-is during NKG's stagger, and you can heal 2 masks safe, a third not so safe. With those Shape of Unn in particular though you can heal during the flame bats attack but you have to be precise. I dont like healing to practice game sense for radiant bosses but I have tried this strat and it works.

Dude, sharp shadow sucks. It barely does any damage and changes your dash distance. So every few seconds you have a different dash distance which can throw you off. Maybe if it was just one charm, but not worth it for two.
@@ZachPlum you don't use it for damage. you use it for increased invincibility dash range during combat. and when actually used properly, it's one hell of a good charm.
@@mikael100100 I found it really useful specifically against Grimm and Traitor Lord, since both their attacks can be avoided decently easily with it and it does some damage at the same time
@@ZachPlumit makes defeating certain enemies way easier and faster, like the soul warrior, or the brooding mawlek, or the watcher knights. Just teleport behind them, hit them from behind, rinse and repeat. Each dash does 1 nail strike of damage, so under some circumstances, it’s almost like you’re getting twice as many hits in

Sharp Shadow does actually help a ton in the Grimm fight. Not really for the damage, but for the extra dash distance. Makes it incredibly easy to jump-dodge in whenever he throws bats for an easy punish, and makes other spacing quite a bit easier. Sharp Shadow is a pretty divisive charm in the community, but its incredibly useful once you get used to the extra dash distance. Not that i's necessary or anything, play the game how you like, but it useful.
I remember I used it for him.
Once you get used to having your dash changed every few seconds, then yes it goes from bad to mediocre but still not worth two notches

i use shaman, strength, soul eater personally its easier
soul eater is actually terrible. idk if you know the numbers, but it gives you 8 extra soul per hit. You would have to hit them 5 times to get one extra spell/heal. Meanwhile spell twister for 2 cost allows you to cast 4 spells instead of 3 with a full gauge

@@Swordian Grimmchild is like the worst charm in the game, and the banishment one is really good. It is like every you mask is worth more than 23.4%. Also it don't work for dmg from einvorment, so don't work for path of pain
