That was how a garden tour should be! I loved that you said the names and a bit of info on them, that was perfect and you truly have an eye for making your gardens look amazingly. Thanks, love to see an updated tour, 2023.
Its been two years since I started adding more Hosta along with Heucheras and hydrangeas on my semi shaded backyard, and so far they are doing quite well. My next door decided to build a two story house three years ago, blocking all the natural sunlight to my backyard! Hosta plants have proven to be very truly hardy and tough to kill in my experience. This year I started growing them in pots; I can't wait to see how well they'll do if left outside over winter in their pots!? I have a fairly nice size backyard; perfect for an expanding Hosta paradise! nice to know the huge variety of Hosta you've shared, thank you.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful garden. This is the best hostea garden I've seen on RUclips. I hated to pick a favorite but couldn't take my eyes off paradigm.
Beautiful garden, well done. I was able to pull a few names from your previous video and buy the hostas suggested at a large hosta sale an hour away. It was great to go in informed and ready with a list instead of impulse buy plants I wasn’t sure about. So difficult to tell how things will turn out on tiny starter plants. Thanks for the info. Keep up the lovely gardening. Everyone needs their own private Eden. Also for anyone who wants to plant in a tough area where the soil is iffy-throw a few bags of top soil on there. Cheap at Walmart, and it really helps the plants do better. You can also build up the ground over exposed tree roots so plants have more to grow in.
Thank you so much for this nice tour. I learned so much not only about other types of hostas, but other plants I can actually mix in which will complement the hostas I have. I live in Dallas Texas so I’m looking for the vigorous types that can handle a little more heat, but I needed shady hostas to fill in some ugly areas behind our pool. I’ve started a whole path of hostas which is looking pretty good but I needed more and wanted some exotics into my mix. Thanks again.
I have never given host as much attention........until I saw your video!!! How gorgeous! Thank you for inspiring me since I have a great shade location!!
Im a huge fan of your hosta garden tours! I missed you last year, do you think you'll walk us through your garden again this year? I live in Montreal Canada and have my family cottage where I do all my gardening.
@@dudley0826 Wow, that news of your separation just stabbed my heart. I’m so sorry ! Can’t you get “custody” of your hostas? Are you going to start another hosta garden? I wish you the best of luck in the future.
Thank you! Great tours. I watched your videos several times and enjoy it. Also made some notes for myself and already bought some hostas you have:) thank you for sharing!
You have such a great collection... hardly any repeats - the most diverse on youtube - and I watch a ton of gardening channels haha. Some of my favorites from your tour: Neptune, Emerald Ruff Cut, Sagae, Cathedral Windows. Definitely wishlist plants for me. It's funny that you mention Big Daddy - I have one - it's been in the ground for three seasons now and it is laughingly small. Thanks for sharing!
Always enjoy your tours. Your garden is beautiful!!! I will definitely use some of your ideas for my garden. The colour scheme is very similar of what I have in my mind
Hi James, your garden is looking much better than last year after the polar vortex. I'd like to recommend a few of my favorite hostas. 1) Pilgrim 2) Abiqua Drinking Gourd 3) Bressingham Blue 4) Blue Vision 5) Patriot ( my all time favorite, very common, but who cares) P.S. How's Dexter doing? 🐈
You have quite a collection of different hostas. Do you get most of them from online garden centers or are they easily found at your local garden centers?
@@dudley0826 Oh, that’s a good area for hostas to thrive. I’m in zone 6b. Outside of Detroit. I have to pe a little careful where I put them depending on the sun. I imagine that in zone 5, you have more options because the sun isn’t as strong for long.

No longer have the garden. I will post my new garden soon. It's not anything like this though.
Good video.

Usually I purchase from local specialty garden centers. I like to see the plants I'm buying.
Any updates on the garden for this year

I'm just east of Toronto, zone 5
