Any idea why just having the spark plugs and coil changed would cause that lightning bolt to come up within a couple hours of driving?
Hi Sara,
This should not have triggered the lightning bolt. My guess would be another issue popped up with timing that coincided. Unless perhaps one or all of the spark plugs were bad or improperly installed.
Did you do the spark plugs yourself?
Is the car running bad?

I have that problem but I cleaned it first and for about a week the lighting bolt came back so I'm just going to replace the throttle body

The lightning bolt is so aggravating!
If you cleaned the throttle body & it worked, I would say that is definitely the problem.
Did it run OK after cleaning it?

So I should have the battery disconnected while I replace the throttle body? (Just the negative) ?
Yes,
Disconnect the negative battery terminal before changing the throttle body as a safety precaution.

With the help of your video, I was able to replace the throttle myself! $50 part (almost too cheap looking...) and just a few bolts. The only issue I had is that I broke the electric connection clip... so tension appears to be holding in fine but its not "snapped" in with the clips. Not sure if I need to do something about that...

If you're not comfortable with replacing the connector, I would at least try to wrap it the best you can with electric tape. You definitely don't want it coming apart.

My dodge is doing the same thing and from reading the comments and forms this seems to be a 50/50 shot I think the best thing to do in the long run is just buy a Toyota in the first place lol

Is your throttle body making the clicking noise?
Someone has an idea what happens to me, only when i floor it or push the car it lights that bolt, more when i put the AC what could it be?

Although it could be many things & I can't tell for sure without scanning it, the most common problems would be a faulty throttle body, a throttle body sensor, or a throttle body control motor.
Did you have the car scanned to get the fault codes?

Mine idles fine after replacing coils, sparks, throttle body, and crankshaft position sensor but wont go over 20mph, just dies

Going to try soon as I get home.. I had found online & tried but didn't have ya hold for 20 sec, so hopefully it works.. need my daughters car moving again.

@@jeremyharwell5795 change the foot pedal it's has throttle position sensor on it it has to be calibrate to match the throttle body
Sorry such late response guys. I got it going!! The pos throttle position sensor I got from autozone was junk, threw in an NGK I ordered and everything was good. But have new plugs, wires, body, & sensors now.. thank yall for inputs!
Just wish you would have pressed the gas pedal to actually show that the new throttle body is actually working

i have constant and now flashing engine light and sometimes lightning bolt and then it goes but engine light is constant for some time now

We replaced the throttle body and it’s still giving us the red lighting bolt 😢

Same issue I just replaced mine Wednesday and Friday night it started again
I did too and also replaced the accelerator pedal position sensor and same red lighting bolt popping up. 😢

Did you reprogram the throttle body? I had to use my buddies fancy diagnostic scan tool to do it, you can actually hear the throttle body move when reprogramming
@@JoshJ05 Hey Josh,
No I did not have to reprogram with a tool. Following the procedure in the video should take care of it. Sometimes you may have to drive a little extra for the CPU to re learn.

@@RCInsidershey, i did try the reprogram procedures but I was thinking none were working for me because the lightning bolt and cruise control lights kept coming back so I figured I needed the tool, But even that didnt help, But eventually I found the problem.. it also wasnt the sparkplugs, map sensor or fuel injectors, i’ll make a video shortly

Do you have a way to test it?
Do the interior lights & radio work, but the car won't turn over?
My battery 2-3 years old but left it sitting for like 2 months in the cold . Start to crank it one day it wouldn’t, boosted it off everything was fine for months. Now having this problem with the red lightning bolt & car won’t crank ?
Interior lights on and headlights flash when unlocking and locking the car still but won’t crank
@@Likkaveli Do you have a way to test the battery voltage? You should have around 12.5 volts with the car off.
Battery alternator is fine . Just replaced the alternator. But red battery light still comes on with red lightning bolt and check engine
