  • Each battery manufacturer will have their own way of reading the battery date code.
However, the following date codes are the most common:
    1. Round stickers
    2. Date stickers
    3. Hot-stamped cryptic letters
    4. MM/DD/YY or DD/MM/YY.
This video will guide you to accurately read the date codes on batteries from different battery brands.

So, I'm looking at my code (i think) it's stamped- OK 15 B So does that translate to Feb 2015? Did I just buy a new old stock 9-year-old battery?

But is the date on the battery the date of manufacture, the date the warranty begins, or the date the battery is due to be recharged/exchanged for a new one??

    How is F3D201 = June 2013?
    Just under that you said, 'F = June' and '3 = 2003'.
    So how does F3D201 = June 2013?
    Please can you explain?

The "3" stands for the last digit in the year, so 3 can be, 2003, 2013, 2023 or even 2033. The same applies with other numbers, Let's say "7", that means 2007, 2017, or 2027. But what if you want the specific year of the battery? then you pick the closest to the current year, because no battery lasts for more than a decade. So lets says "D1" is shown in a battery, it would April 2021. Hope that helps

@@akbarshoed Oh excuse me, there is no expiration date. the manufacture date is what you need. I try not to buy batteries that have been sitting on the shelf for too long so I always check the manufacture date.

Ummm... did they not notice when making this video that the 2nd ACDelco code they show, "7KZ = October 2019", but '7' indicates that the mfg year is 2017?
