- What will Kentucky basketball do with their shooting guard position?
On today's episode of Locked On Kentucky, Lance Dawe discusses what Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats will do with the shooting guard position this season. Will Koby Brea, who primarily played small forward during his time at Dayton, start for Kentucky? How much run will Collin Chandler get at the two?
Dawe also answers a listener question about the rotation: How deep will UK's bench be? Much, much deeper thank you may think, and there are loads of numbers to back it up.

Lance, you are absolutely killing it this offseason. I genuinely beleive you cover the basketball team better than anyone else is right now. You are super thorough and I love digging into the statistics and thinking of minute distribution.
For me the depth chart is this.
1. Butler 1.Kriisa
2. Brea. 2. Chandler
3. Robinson 3. Oweh
4. Carr. 4. Almonor
5. Williams 5. Garrison
I ultimately think they all will see the floor early and we might get different lineup changes to see whats working and what needs adjusted. That is the beauty of this offense in my book. I think Perry and both will play in spots.
Looks about right for me, Coach Pope's will really be able to adjust we'll with all these different types of talents
@@indigomarine91 no doubt. If they can gel and get it right they will be fine.
I think 9 players will play 15+ minutes and that doesn’t include Perry, Noah, and Chandler who will play spot minutes
@@wildcats2360 Pope will go 10 deep no question to me in this offense. I think the 3 freshmen will play musical chair at the backup 2 spot with Chandler ultimately getting more minutes.
@@jaycehoward2771 when you say “backup two” that doesn’t really make sense to me. The way I see it, there are just two wing positions. we have Robinson, Brea, Oweh, Chandler, Noah that can play those spots. I see Robinson, Brea, Oweh, playing 90% of the minutes in those two positions
Colin Chandler is 6ft 6 now
Fairleigh Dickinson. Not Farley.
Well thks is a very good topic and mr dawe you fo ome hell of a job covering our cats anf thanks for all your shows but to the question i believe we could as nany as four different ways may be five different players could play the 2 but i believe brea will start but you may see jaxson therer a bit Chandler will rotate there depending on matchups owah will play there alot then oerry i believe will get minutes there as well not many but some and im thankful for what a team we are blessed to get to watch on tv nect season there gonna be great
Collin chandler os going to be such an underated player for Kentucky
Mark Popes saw how well Rick pitino did when playing a deep rotation and also shooting lots of threes. I believe this influenced his style of coaching to adopt these strategies. I think he had this in mind during the recruiting
Ansley Almonor might be my favorite Cat that's coming in. I just really like that dude. The podcasts he has been on, especially with Mike from LoyalBBN, were awesome. Thanks, Lance, for giving BBN something to discuss and look forward to!
I think the wings are so interchangable and so even talent wise it's hard to predict. Chandler plays like a more athletic Tyler Herro but will there be court rust? Super Seniors Robinson and Brea are obviously going to be super hard to keep off the court, Theyre all big enough to play the 3 spot and good enough shooters, ball handlers, defenders to play the 2 so expect to see them all playing together alot.
😊 Let's not forget our Baseball young men in Omaha, their playing NC State Sat at 1:00 1st. Game. Let's go BBN Bat's Cat's....! I like Bera at the SG due too his nation leading 3 shooter.,
Who ever I'm going to love this team, coaches and all of BBN...go Gooo
Anybody like to see a platoon system, with the 11 and 12 guys filing in for injuries or if someone is ice cold?
Maybe toss in a 40-minute full court press? Hmmm?
What a trash team. Big transfer has metal rods in his legs. There is zero talent on this team.
You could rotate Robinson, Brea and Chandler at that 2 or 3 spot. Robinson fits the 2 spot better than Brea because of his ball handling
All I know for sure is that Koby Brea likes to comes off the bench.
I think the starters should be Williams, Carr, Oweh, Almonor, Kriisa. Then we have a loaded scoring punch off the bench with Brea and Robinson also Lamont Butler who I think will be pivotal but have more of a refined role as a guy that makes the right plays.
Robinson will be starting.
Perry needs to be redshirt...
I think Butler, Brea, Robinson, Carr or Oweh, and Williams
@@ripwatts373Coach Pope didn't tell Perry to "get that shoulder ready" to sit the bench, Perry could of went a lot of other places, he didn't come to Kentucky to redshirt. You might see Noah Trent redshirt but doubt that even happens
Robinson and Carr are locks as starters the rest is up in the air
I see a throwback. PG Butler, SG Oweh, SF Robinson, PF Garrison, C Williams. Will be the #1 defensive 5 in all of college basketball next year. Mark (Pope) my word.
No way Carr doesn’t start , I think 2 guys are locks to start and that’s Carr & Robinson and all the rest will be figured out as they move closer to season tip off .
Carr is going to be leading scorer
Kriisa isn’t off bench. Kriisa Butler Robinson Carr Williams
Pope will not start that lineup. There's no offense with that 5.
@@markmoyers5661 I was thinking the same thing no doubt it would be elite defensively but watching them try to get a bucket would be like paint drying 😂, I agree with you 100% no way will that be the lineup and I also don’t see a starting lineup not consisting of Carr/Robinson and the rest are interchangeable I think .
When Robinson posted his locker it said guard he won’t play the 4 like he did at BYU
