@@vivianchevy unfortunately not. The microwave will make it hard as a rock! It might just need either more water, or less time in the oven depending on the size of your loaf

yo this actually worked 😂 my brother was not eating his baguette at all so it got very stale, and I wanted to eat it so I actually followed the steps and it worked tysm this is a lifesaver
Got to the store almost before closing and all they had left was not so fresh loaves. I’m about to do this for my breakfast, warm sliced French bread with marscapone cheese, figs and honey drizzled on top!
French toast should use day-old (at least) bread anyway, right? Stale = absorbs more milk mixture. But this method is incredible, works like a charm every time. Thank you!
I had a lovely crusty bread roll that was like concrete. Seriously you could have used it as a hammer. 😅. I tried your trick and it came out absolutely perfect. It was just like it was fresh out of the baker’s oven. Thank you so much. Brilliant tip👍🏻❤️😊

Hello Paula, Thank you for posting this tip! I had the opportunity to test it, today, when I made lunch. I was making Sausage Peppers & Onions and discovered that the Italian Bread I had bought a few days ago and left on the counter in its paper sleeve had gotten rock hard! So, I warmed up the oven, ran the bread under cold water sat it in the oven for 10 minutes, and PRESTO! The bread was as soft and delicious as the day I bought it! I've also been happily making my own Mayonnaise for MANY months, now, thanks to your video showing how to do it! I never worry that I'm running low on Mayo anymore, since a fresh batch can be ready for use in under 5 minutes! I'm SO glad I found your videos here on RUclips! Jon Olson/YKOStudio
Love it! I have a question! If you’ve already cut into it a french baguette, will this still work? ALSO is it mandatory to freeze it? Or is it ok without that step? Thanks 😊
Hi! Yes. I soaked the bread to reintroduce some moisture into the loaf, because when bread is stale it has lost all its water content. Without the water, the oven will just dry out the loaf even more. And Yes! I preheated it! Thank you for clarifying:)
@@HowToMakeDinner Yay!! 😃Merry Christmas! I just finished making a tiramisu that’s an authentic Italian recipe. I’m taking it to my daughters tomorrow for dinner. She has to work on Christmas day, poor little thing.
Hi, thanks for this great tip, may I know how do I reheat my focaccia bread which is in bites size to become crispy on top but not hard on the body.. any advice pls? Thanks 😊
Everytime I buy fresh French bread from Publix, 2 days later it turns into Thor’s hammer. Wonder if this will work, even though it was never frozen. Literally every time we buy French bread, we don’t want it until it’s 3 days old lol.
I hate that I'm so jaded by the internet that when I see the word hack I automatically distrust you. I was noticing the time on the microwave and got back in the video to see if it was actually 10 minutes. Trying this out right away.
Oh, boy! Just what I was hoping to learn. My dried-up brick of a loaf is heading to the tap for a shower before its date with the oven. Stand by for results!...
@@Speedydutch Not bad. Saved the loaf and made it edible. I think I needed to wet it down longer than the quick sprinkle I gave it initially. And may be I should have let it soak in a bit. The inside was a bit less fluffy-fresh than I was looking for. I think I was a bit too intimidated by the heavy soaking downpour given in the vid. Again, Fortune Favours the Bold. I'm keeping this technique, and next time I'll try to err on the side of egregious wanton-ness. For fun. Thanks!
In that case, your best bet is probably to turn it into something new! Bread soup (like pappa di pomodoro or Ribollita), bread crumbs, croutons, etc! 😬
From the looks of it there is a considerably thicker crust than when baked fresh. Might be useful for soup or dipping in tzatziki but I wouldn’t have a sandwich with it
@@HowToMakeDinner I think I’ve done the same trick without the bread swimming in water, just a few light splashed and then microwaved but again it was just about soup worthy
I tried it, it failed because I didn’t use a stove oven. I used another kind of oven, which I will not name. I couldn’t sliced the bread role horizontally to attempt to make a sandwich and the bread lost It’s flavor. I suggest in my head to reseason it and after seeing this video to pre slice it horizontally.
Haha this one was especially far gone. There was zero chance of a soft outside! But for most loaves, if you wrap it in a tea towel while it’s still hot from the oven, you should end up with a slightly softer crust :)
I mean... unless it’s covered in freezer burn I’d say it’s fair game. This one was definitely in there for several months! Some freezers are better than others so you really need to judge it on a case by case basis!
Crispy instead of soft and moist. That is expected. Old bread is not irreversible. This crispy bread will cut your throat and tongue. Info only. How do you think?

how much did it cost to run the oven vs....buying fresh bread/?

Wahoo!!
You’re awesome. Thank you.
Does this work if the bread was cut in half already, exposing the inside?
It does, but it creates a crust on the exposed end too, so you kinda have to trim it off
And I'm guessing (to avoid the word assume) don't get the inside too wet right? What if I wrapped the bread in a wet paper towel?
It works THANKS
Lovely :)

From Mr H. Bless you for that.
From the looks of it there is a considerably thicker crust than when baked fresh. Might be useful for soup or dipping in tzatziki but I wouldn’t have a sandwich with it

@@HowToMakeDinner - all good. Thanks for the French bread tip.
I occasionally want to revive some stale hotdog buns.
I want to humidify them, and make them soft.
I don't want the hard crust.
If I accidentally left the bag open, they go dry and hard, while they are supposed to be mushy with a soft crest.
How do I trust this vid without a bread knife??
How long can bread be kept in the freezer and still be good?
