Tony...with you 100%. Anyone who isn't grateful to be in a position to cruise needs to reexamine their expectations. Nothing irritates me more than seeing someone show disrespect toward the crew. "Please" and "thank you" should be the bare minimum. From what I've seen, the crew works hard to ensure you have a great vacation. I'm always amazed by the level of service.

The only time we ever moved was when we were seated at a table and one of the diners couldn't stop coughing. Yo, I'm a 10-year vegetarian and I would NEVER get offended at cattle farmers being seated near me! Just as I don't care if friends or family eat meat when I'm present. To each their own. I choose not to partake in it, but I'm well aware that most of the world still does and that's each person's choice. Also, I love how you pointed out that the complainers "took ownership of the table." That was my immediate thought, as well. 😅
I have been a vegetarian for 29 years now and would not have reacted that way, and I’m curious to find out more! I am now headed to your channel to check out the video!
The fact the ceo and shareholders will clap each other on the back for earnings...but still don't want the lowest paid staff to get 1 day off month ...😢
I saw the footage on local news. This guy was on something more than alcohol. Some kind of drug. He was kicking a closet door. It happened only an hour from boarding.
He was also using his head as a ram on the door and had already kicked two crew members who were hiding from him. Another passenger had to run from him. He likely died from a head injury or an overdose of whatever he was taking.
Only 1 hour into the cruise? Not really enough time to get smashed with checking in, getting your stateroom setup, etc. The only thing that could have caused him to act like that with no drugs or alcohol is his system, is he was diabetic. I had a prisoner once who was really violent and combative. Turns out the the doctors said that can happen in 1% of diabetics when the blood sugar gets out of whack.Dying in their custody if he was handcuffed and on his stomach after being pepper sprayed, he could have died from positional asphyxiation, which would make the cruise line liable for his death..
I mentioned the same thing about diabetics on a different post. A friend of mine‘s brother had that problem. Would get very violent and belligerent if his blood sugar was off. He was also a very large guy. Ended up going to prison after crashing his car, no doubt because his sugar was screwed up. When the cops arrived, he started swinging. For that reason I think it’s only fair to give him the benefit of the doubt until we see the toxicology.
Crew member hours and policies vary a lot based on cruise line, position, seniority, and passenger feedback. We had a favorite server that we would request whenever we cruised--he told us that a certain number of guests mentioning him by name on their comment cards would get him 2 extra hours off on a port day which was a huge deal to him. He also said that more positive reviews would result in things up to promotions and pay increases. There also was a preferred rotation that the servers wanted--which team of servers got it was dependent on a numerical score on their review cards that were turned in on the previous cruise.
We just did a cruise on the Celebrity Edge out of Sydney and 1500 of the passengers were American. The vast majority just point blank refused to wash their hands at the provided wash stations and then refused hand sanitizer when it was offered at the wash station exit. Any minor outbreak would have quickly turned into a major one. I think education in the US must be well below world standards.
As an American I'm with you! The mask mandates here went overboard, and along with the lockdown being unnecessary, and wreaking havoc on us, people have become rebellious. That's my opinion anyway, but I agree, anything that can help prevent sickness should be standard practice in this era of many sicknesses in the air, and on surfaces. It's just polite to wash your hands often, especially on a cruise. I'm shocked that grocery stores here required masks at one time, but no hand sanitizer at the entrance!? Both should have been mandatory, and in my opinion the hand sanitation should be mandatory even today, and especially now that we have bird flu floating around. I realize they say masks, unless of medical grade, have little effect in preventing contracting a sickness. I wear one when out, but most don't, and they have that right, but people need to wash their hands way more often than they ever have, especially on a cruise ship with 1000's of passengers! 👍✌🗽
As an American, yes the education standards are in the toilet in this country. Too many of us lack common sense and think everything is a conspiracy. It's tiring 😮💨.
I'm American and I hate when people don't wash their hands after using the restroom and cough and sneeze into their hands without washing them. Ugh, so gross, 😢😭😭😭. My parent does that sometimes, 😭.
Generally, food poisoning becomes apparent within 24 hours. I'd be surprised if what knocked you down came from the cruise. If you got sick on Monday, I'd be looking at what was consumed on Sunday for the source of the illness.
We got off Celebrity Apex on Saturday 12/21, but before we disembarked, I came down with the infamous cruise crud. My throat felt like it has razor blades in it for almost 4 days, and even now, I still have no voice, am coughing to the point of sore abdominal muscles, and am very congested (both head and chest). I brought covid tests with us on cruise and tested negative during the cruise and several times since. Just a rotten respiratory infection. Hope you and Jenny B are feeling better and can enjoy Chrismukkah.
There have always been fancy rooms on cruise ships, all the way down to the deep inside cabins with no windows. Casinos have always had ultra fancy suites for vip gamblers, etc.
If I remember the video correctly, the man who passed was not just kicking the door but also slamming his head at full force into a solid steel door. Therefore it isn't too surprising he passed.

Most cruise ships don't have the equipment to scan or X ray guests. I fractured my back on a cruise back in 2014, and the ship didn't have an X-ray machine. The ship's doctor, however, accurately diagnosed an L5 fracture and gave me Percocet for the remainder of the cruise. Hindsight is 20/20, but in the case of the unruly passenger hitting his head and being so violent just one hour after embarkation, the ship should have either turned around or requested a medevac from the Coast Guard. They probably weren't even into international waters at that point. The Coast Guard could have tendered a boat because it would have been a nightmare airlifting a wild patient.

Hey Tony, Happy Holidays! By the way, the QM2 that arrived in NYC Dec 21st came in sick as well. We were warned to make sure we all had masks and gloves before going to the pier. There was a complete professional deep cleaning of the ship and pier that day, the ship didn’t depart till around 6pm.
We were on the Zuiderdam the week after the event, delayed embarkation for enhanced cleaning. Increased protocols on Lido deck like they would pour the coffee and handle all the utensiles to serve the food. UNTIL about midcruise when they decleared it ok. They really should keep the protocol until the cruise week was over, very confusing - oh now we can get our own rolls.?.?
I finished by Christmas shopping a couple of weeks ago - the local used bookstore and friends' craft open house (they do ceramics, weaving, and other handcrafts) are my "go to" places.
Love the videos Tony. Glad we got to meet you on the Sun Princess during Dons group cruise. Happy Christmas to you and jenny B and the family. Best Jeff & Sandy Brooklyn NY
Tony, where the ship within a ship became annoying was when the suites started being given space that had originally given to locality members, with no other compensation for the change. Becoming a separate entity does remove some of that annoyance, until you can’t use an elevator because it’s been blocked out for 25-30 minutes for the yacht club. In order to get to another elevator the hotel director literally cleared an over crowded way in front of the elevator bank. At the time I didn’t know that the out of order was being caused, each port, by the special usage.
Came off the carnival pride, on December 15, woke up sick the next morning, with diarrhea and stomach aches. Definitely a virus. I wonder if other people had problems as well. Thank you for posting that information. My doctor told me I did pick up a virus of some sort. It took me a week to recover. Then I have an immune deficiency as well.
I always love people who go on a cruise who try to get political saying how the economy is terrible and we have to make America better... when they have thousands of dollars of disposable income to go on a cruise. "Oblivious" doesn't even begin to cover it. And long since done with my holiday shopping.
Glad that you're feeling better today. Yes, my shopping has been completed. So often, my husband and I book a cruise (Jan. or Feb.) as our joint Christmas present to each other. Sadly, this year we had to actually go shopping. No more cruises for this Diamond Plus past cruiser, until things get more in line. If never, so be it!
We moved home last week, still unpacking boxes & got a little dog with Pancreatitis!! Everyone is getting vouchers for Christmas!!! Happy Christmas everyone.
I'm gonna be in the "have not" bucket soon with the prices of cruises now. I only have 1 planned for 2025 which is a Hurricane Milton rescheduled cruise but based on the prices I saw on NCL, RCCL, and Carnival I won't be planning any cruises anytime soon. I can now spend that money for 1 cruise on 2 land vacations.

In order to get to another elevator the hotel director literally cleared an over crowded way in front of the elevator bank. At the time I didn’t know that the out of order was being caused, each port, by the special usage.
I agree Tony about the "haves"!!
Yes
Have a merry Christmas
Came off the carnival pride, on December 15, woke up sick the next morning, with diarrhea and stomach aches. Definitely a virus. I wonder if other people had problems as well. Thank you for posting that information. My doctor told me I did pick up a virus of some sort. It took me a week to recover. Then I have an immune deficiency as well.
Glad you guys are feeling better, it was a good game and nope, not finished with my Christmas shopping yet!! Have a good one!😀
I'm not quite finished with Christmas shopping yet, but almost.
I'm really glad you're feeling better Tony! Washe, washe washe...
No not ready for Christmas 🎄. Glad you are feeling better!
I always love people who go on a cruise who try to get political saying how the economy is terrible and we have to make America better... when they have thousands of dollars of disposable income to go on a cruise. "Oblivious" doesn't even begin to cover it.
And long since done with my holiday shopping.
I feel the same way. These are the same people who complain about the price of butter, eggs and so forth. Enough.
Sounds like the family is trying to sue. They should definitely do a tox screen.
Finished with the Christmas shopping just got to do the wrapping
Lol, I also watched the coffee badging article! 🙃
People feel they are entitled. We are on a Christmas cruise for Christmas
We moved home last week, still unpacking boxes & got a little dog with Pancreatitis!! Everyone is getting vouchers for Christmas!!! Happy Christmas everyone.
I had the 72 hr stomach flu last weekend and I had barely been anywhere locally. It was a long weekend!
