    I love the articulation of the Everest 10, and because I needed not to lose that, I opted out of using the pen springs. I got the shock keys and was able to mount the shock caps higher on the chassis, and lower the center of gravity. I also cut off the tray of my body and made it a cab-,only body. I also made new mounting holes on the cab and lowered the body onto the chassis. My EVEREST 10 now looks mean, thanks to this video.

    I know this is an older video, I bought aftermarket chassis plates that basically accomplish the extensions that you put on, however I did a DIFFERENT pen spring mod, I actually removed the springs all together and ran the pen springs on the outside of the shaft, they work kind of like a bump stop (they are almost pointless other than keeping the tires off the body) but this allows for full droop so I'm low but don't really lose much articulation at all.

  • @josefoo77

    looks cool. you lose travel when you put that spring in and when you move the shock mounts out. I'm new, wouldn't cutting or getting softer springs make it sit lower, be easier, cheaper, faster and increase performance while maintaining the same travel?

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  11 месяцев назад +1

      You list a lot of items there:
      Lower - maybe, depends on spec
      Easier - sure!
      Cheaper - nope - this was free!
      Faster - no, not with finding and buying the right ones.
      Inc Perf - depends.
      The whole point of this mod is that low budget, which goes very well with the truck being entry level.

    I tried doing this I didn't get quite as low with mine and honestly I just didn't care for the style. For my style and type of crawling it got hung up super easy so Easy. I found it handled the best for at least the style of Chrome stock ride height with 4 wheel steering wheel extenders and I'm probably going to need to put some weight in the tires. Shockingly capable. I definitely see how some people could benefit from these upgrades though

    Getting ready to order two of these rigs.
    What are some things I should be aware of?
    I've watched countless videos on these and for the money they seem to be legitimately a good truck with ability to make insane mods.
    However...I'm not gonna be doing anything in the realm of extreme crawling with crazy angles lol.....I just really want a better wheel and tire setup for more grip and better looks
    Then maybe aluminum axle housings🤷‍♂️

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  Год назад +2

      They are fun trucks! There are certainly more capable trucks out there however, depending on your goals - but of course, at a higher price.
      Wheels and tires are a very important early upgrade.
      Upgrading the diff locker itself is also good. It is the metal locker in the middle of the diff that could use upgraded.
      Most likely, you will want to swap out for a lower turn motor to get some more speed out of it.
      Honestly, don't waste a bunch of $$ on aluminum housing and the like. They don't actually improve the performance.

  • @DavidGarcia-jz1wv
    @DavidGarcia-jz1wv 2 года назад

    I love how you made this Everest even a more capable crawler. It would even be more interesting to see if you could do something about the belly rub on the bottom chassis. Maybe there is a aftermarket company out there that makes a slimmer chassis to eliminate belly rub or bottom chassis rub .

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  2 года назад +2

      The Everest 10 is technically a rock bouncer instead of a rock crawler in all honsty, that is why it has a longer wheel base.

  • @CoolD10
    @CoolD10 2 года назад

    is it good for it to sit low like that? you need good flex to crawl dont you?

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  2 года назад

      You don't need a lot of flex.
      I have built many trucks - including some that can twist 90*...and those were the worst performers.
      Let it flex some, but a low center of gravity really helps a crawler!

      It is not my go-to when recommending crawlers to folks.
      It is VERY capable for the $$$. But my go-to crawlers are the Element Ecto, Redcat Gen8, and Traxxas TRX4 Sport. They are more capable and fun to drive than this truck.

    Trying to understand why you would want to lower ground clearance and flex in a crawler. And only gaining 5 degrees doesn't seem worth it at all. What am I nit understanding

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  Год назад

      It is all about the center of gravity.
      With a taller vehicle, you find the truck is constantly flipping over as it attempts to climb things. Getting a truck low helps prevent that.
      The amount of flex is also important - but more is not necessarily better. You need a truck to have compliance, but also.be able to pull itself up obstacles...instead of flexing around them.
      Hope that helps!

      @@RoadsideRC That makes since. I will give it a try when mine gets here. I will also try it on my Danchee Ridgerock. I am notorious for using spacers. I love the wider stance. Danchee has after market shocks, spacers, servos, and added weight. Still wants to bounce.

      @@travishoover636just needs even more weight. I have a trx4 that stays SO much more planted than stock when you’re losing grip. Like a dirt hill, a stock truck bounces all around like a bobble head until you most likely lose control and roll whereas mine bounces like a realistic truck and just GOES. Stays super super planted.

    Много лишней работы проделано. Можно сразу было установить амортизаторы выше. А для регулировки их жёсткости, менять угол установки.
    И самое главное: аккумулятор на краулер надо ставить СПЕРЕДИ, а не сзади. Передняя часть краулера должна быть тяжелее задней.
