If more children were brought up like yours, the world would be a much better place. Love your channel, the diversity, the sounds of nature and all the education. Your children have great parents. Way to go, Dutch!
Your camping trip with your daughter brought back happy memories of camping with my four children many years ago. I am now 86 years old and bedridden on hospice care. Such sweet memories of those long ago days! My children are all deceased now but one and she is my caregiver. Thank you Dutch for blessing me tonight and I pray 🙏 you and your family have many camping trips in your future. Hope is a big help to her dad. God bless you and your sweet family.
@gaybradley1939, my heart goes out to you. Sending good vibes & prayers💙🙏🙏🙏. God bless you and your daughter. Being a caregiver is not easy, but you get this time to spend with her sharing all your wisdom and things she needs to know before you're gone.💔💔💔💫.
I’m so sorry all but one of your children have gone before you. I don’t think anyone should ever have to live through that kind of grief, thank God that your daughter is able to care for you during this last chapter of your life. Remind her of all the wonderful times you spent together it will help her once you are gone to reflect on the good times spent together. My father is 83 and in good health although my mother passed away two years ago I know he misses her dearly. I want to be his caretaker but he doesn’t want that so I try to respect his wishes and help when he allows it. I cry every time I have to leave him because I know how lonely he must be living by himself. My heart goes out to him but he’s doing it all on his own and I know mom spent a lot of time talking with him about this time and how he would be by himself. It’s hard though not to be there for him because he’s been such an amazing support in my life. I’m sure you have been for your daughter as well and I hope you are able to tell her how much you’ve loved her and how you’ve enjoyed knowing her as a person. God bless you and I pray you aren’t in any pain. 🥰❤️🇨🇦🍁🙏🏻
Hopey is Daddy’s ‘One Gal Wonder’! She is such good help and a quick learn! Making memories Dutch which will be near and dear to her heart the rest of her life. Our dad made us tents out of his Navy blankets, in our back yard. Mother packed us goodies to eat during the night. We were never in harm’s way…we were right outside their bedroom window. I was the one that always made up goast stories. I remember Dad peeking in the tint when things got quiet, to see if we were okay. We were poor and didn’t even know it. Six of us kids and lots of love in that old house. Precious memories❤
Brings back fond memories of tent camping with my kids! There is nothing better than food cooked outdoors! We use to love to camp by a stream and listen to water as you fall asleep!
Dutch, be careful when changing the wicks to the Coleman lantern. They are made from ASBESTOS and should be changed using gloves and the kids don't need to be that near to it. Be careful. I was a fully qualified ASBESTOS worker. Wet a paper towel to remove the old wick! Wash your hands after dealing with them. Looks like you had a great time. ❤
lol! My dad(God rest his soul) was a big game outfitter/hunting guide in the Rocky Mountains. We used a couple of big canvas tents on guided hunts. One was the kitchen/dining tent. The other (s) was the sleeping or dormitory tent. You need to realize that it was constantly below zero temperatures and there was large amounts of snow on the ground. Those stoves kept us “comfortable “ (if you can all it that, but no one ever complained) for those hunts. I couldn’t imagine staying in a tent with one of those tents in the southern US. Our tents were a very heavy canvas (they had to be to hold up against the snow, ice and wind). We slept on army cots with a sleeping bag (sometimes you needed a blanket wrapped around your head). I miss those trips. Dressed big game, elk, moose, bear, mtn goat, etc all hung in a tree. At those temperatures you needn’t worry about the meat. You certainly brought back some great memories. My dad has been gone about 5 years now, and I’ll be 65 years old next month. What a truly blessed way of life. I’m so glad that my generation wasn’t the last to experience this. Watching you and the girls always leaves me smiling. Y’all have a truly blessed day!
It’s so Cool watching you get the Kids involved Especially Hope. Brings back so many great memories of me with my kids. Watching their expressions learning new things and new experiences. I Smiled through this whole Video and laughed out loud a couple Times! Now I have Two Beautiful Grandchildren that I can’t wait to share with. So much Fun!❤️
Looks like you’re gonna have a blast! You should put a tarp underneath your tent to protect your tent from the rocks and moisture . Hope you had fun and stay safe. You’re a great dad. ❤❤❤❤❤ The nice part of cold No Bugs👍 I bet you slept like babies with that water running.
Love your channel from traverse City Michigan ❤❤❤you are the best dad ever ❤❤ teaching your children camping and taking care of animals on the homestead, and spending time together with your beautiful wife is awesome ❤❤not too many families are like your beautiful family ❤❤❤ I remember the camping days ❤❤❤much love from Carrie in traverse City Michigan ❤❤❤
It is so wonderful how you take the time to teach your beautiful daughters so many skills they will use for a lifetime. My dad did the very same thing with me all of my siblings. He was not only my hero but my best friend. Even though I am approaching 60 each and every skill he taught me I carry with me with confidence and pride.
I remember when my Papa and I went camping for the first of many times, so of the best memories I have, we fished, and ate our catches mountain stream rainbow trouts, the first of many years of wonderfully beautiful memories that lasted until I was a teenager. Miss my Pop, now I am 80, still some of the best years of my growing up.
I am glad you can do thing like that with you daughter, my father and I do not like to call him that ruined any child hood I could have had with him. We will leave it at that. Love you all God bless you and until next time take care
Hope, Sure reminds me of our youngest daughter who would follow her Dad (she was his shadow 😊) Always doing everything her Dad would do! Thanks for sharing camping memories in the making! May you both be blessed with more fun memories💙❤️
Dutch you show your love for hope, you go the extra mile.you enjoy spending time with hope. Hope is happy anytime she with dad. If something happens to this crazy world you have showed hope how to keep going
This is a fantastic camping experience. I used to keep a small tote in my truckbox with paper napkins, grilling tools, paper plates, solo cups, salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder, pladtic utensils, and everything i would neef to start a campfire. Called it my portable camping and picknic kit. I also kept either a small charcoal or propane grill as part of the kit. I was always ready for a Spontaneous picnics and camping trips. This brings back memories from the last 40 years.
I am trying to catch up on all my RUclips creator content after having neck surgery 2 weeks ago. When my daughter was little we had a truck bed camper & did a little bit of camping. We still have our Coleman Lantern & we have gone through a couple Coleman stoves over the years. Now I have a 2 man dome tent I popped up in my living room about 6 years ago for my 4 year old (@ the time) granddaughter to sleep in. We have slept in it a couple times out in my backyard as well. Now I have a hybrid travel trailer, but we still love camping. Thanks for the memories. You & Brandi are doing a great job teaching the girls to live off the land. Hope is such a daddy’s girl & loves to help her daddy. Great job, Dutch!
It's always nice to get out and go camping with the kids . Me and my husband use to take our five kids and head for the VA. hills in the summer. Was alot of fun.
In the late 60's and early 70's our tent was a army surplus tent. To this day I can still smell that tent!! When it rains dad said DO NOT THE TENT...BUT I DID AND I HAD A DRIP RIGHT ON MY BED !!!Good lesson learned!
Such a sweet time for a daughter and daddy ! My daddy took me and my sister so many times ! I took my boys every chance I got we would stay a week on the river ! I never forgot what he taught me , my boys now take their kids ! What a blessing DUTCH AND BRANDY ARE TO THE GIRLS ! ❤❤❤❤
I absolutely love your daughter Hope. She is a beautiful girl and she is just a outgoing. She is not afraid to get dirty. All of your daughters are well rounded girls.
Guys,,, never poke holes in your steaks. Just season and rub it in. Let sit to ambient temp. Poking holes loses all your internal juices. Just sear on each side to maintain the juices. Then cook to desired preference. You'll have a much juicer steak.. I wouldn't lead you wrong. I've been cooking and grilling for 60+ years. In the Military at night I would cook steaks for my Fire Watch Crew while others were in their bunks. Of coarse we had to buy our own. Army didn't supply them. Once word was out, soldiers were volunteering for Fire Watch Duty.. LOL..
My husband and I, because of circumstances beyond our control spent our first 7 months together camping, It was the best of times and yes, the worst because of weather. We survived the worst and had over 40 wonderful years together. We live in Canada 🇨🇦. Married in May our home wasn’t ready until December… camp grounds closed in September.. thanks to family we had a place to go.
We camped with our 3 children in a much smaller tent up on a CO mountain, ate a meal, discarded the food items, turned off the Coleman lantern.. and very early morning my husband n me heard some grunting sounds out near our jeep… being real quiet, Bob carefully unzip a part of the door… oh..thank God it wasn’t a bear…. It was about 5 cows … evidently we parked on their trail. You picked a beautiful spot.. with the creek sound close by.. just hope no rain comes. Hope is very adventurous, always the first one to step up to the challenge with dad by her side. She will remember these days forever. I’m not too sure about the stove inside .. but the food looks delish! What fun!!
Just found this video tonight and loved it! The old Coleman lantern looks like one my dad used on family camps when I was a kid. We had a stove that ran in white gas with the tank mounted on the front of the stove. Those things worked great! I have a propane Coleman lantern and stove that are 25 years old and still work! For baking, Coleman makes a folding camp oven we used on the stove and I'm sure it would work on top of the wood stove. They even have a temp gauge on the door.
Super cool video and an awesome experience for y'all, that's the good stuff in life! Those old school white gas lanters can be a pain, they sure make you appreciate the propane version. The mantles are the most delicate part. It works good to shape them by hand, get them all even and perfect all the way around and globe shaped as much as you can and then lastly, light them with a match with no gas or nothing, just let them burn to ash, then put it back together gently. Fun fact, those mantles are actually RADIOACTIVE, it's how they are treated so they glow so much. Wash your hands good when your done. Looks like y'all really had a good time. Next time get the whole fam!
I love watching you and Hope together. You can tell she is absolutely a lover of the outdoors and nature. It seems the outdoors is her happy place. All of you keep up the good work.
You both looked like you were having a good time. I love camping and always have. I'm 70 years old and I still do tent camping. It's the only way to camp
Sesn, and Hope that hot camping trip was awesome. Lots of Fun! I like the out door fire pitvyou built to grill your steak, The mashed potatoes, corn shrimp, Monky bread all fun. And sleeping by the creak in a hit tent. 👍♥️💞🙏
Wow! Dutch, you have really gone all out for your camping trip with Hope. Making memories and having fun. Great job. Consider getting around the head headlights. Hands free.
I just love Hopie. She must be the outdoorsy girl of the kids. Reminds me of me when I was little many years ago. Love y’all’s videos God bless and keep you and your family!!!!!😊
Oh my goodness! That looked like it was a blast! Even though it got really cold when the fire was dyin, it looked like it was an overall success! Hope is my kinda girl. I was the same way with my Dad. I loved doin stuff with him. He's gone now, but I remember all the good times we had. Thank you for filming what y'all did, and Hope thank you for your fun videoing and with Lily, too. It is so peaceful and tranquil there. Loved this video. 😊❤
I loved to the expression on Hope’s face when she walked into the tent. Her Facial expression and joy was truly precious. What a wonderful one on one time! This was worth more than a million dollars just for the joy. Love, Cindy
Watching you camping with Hope brought a couple of memories of our family camping a couple times in the summer but only in a camper. I was jealous of Hope being able to camp in a tent with a heater inside. I wish there was more Dad’s (Mom’s) that did this with their children. It truly gives life lessons for kids as they grow up (even and Old lady like me who is 68 years old.) my hat goes off to you Shawn and Your wife and the 3 girls! ❤ you all, Cindy
Hope is just love it out there with you, Dutch!! What an awesome memory for ya'll!!! You're a good Dad, camping ,hunting, fishing, ect with the girls. Nice to see ya'll enjoy some special time together!! Good Job, DAD!!!! God Bless Keeping it Dutch
Hope is a Father's dream child! She's so full of life and excited about doing everything. God bless her and keep her safe.

Hope is always ready! Great guys! Really nice tent!
My husband used to use those oil lanterns to track deer. The trail glowed in that light. Pretty cool!
Cooking on an open flame is an art.
Natures sounds as you are putting up the tent are just beautiful!
Dutch and family love watching you guys on your camping trip sure looks like a lot of fun .😂❤

A couple of head lights are very handy while camping or the lights that clip to your ball cap.

I loved to the expression on Hope’s face when she walked into the tent. Her Facial expression and joy was truly precious. What a wonderful one on one time! This was worth more than a million dollars just for the joy. Love, Cindy

What a wonderful experience for your daughter and great one on one time with her! She will remember this forever! And you too! ❤
Looks delicious. Nothing like food over the campfire. Yummy.
