I went back to university at age 30 and had a lot more focus than when I was younger. You won't regret it. Best wishes!
Allysia, you have great passion in teaching music and have already inspired a lot of people. Look at number of your subscribers and views, these are vivid proof.
Keep going and bringing classical music back to modern :)
Congratulations on going back to University, that’s fantastic! Best of luck in your studies!
I’m the opposite, stopped piano lessons in late high school, went to University and established my career, now over the past 3-4 years have been getting back into piano playing and certainly regret my many years of absence from playing. I absolutely love it and can’t wait to sit down and practice at the end of a stressful day (working in healthcare). I’m just starting on grade 8 RCM and hope to maybe get my grade 10 one day! I do miss your regular videos as your current courses are not relevant to me but certainly appreciate the time commitment. Would love to see the odd one in future on how to approach the higher grades, how many pieces you would cover, exams and preparation, etc!
Maybe one day you will decide to retake your grade 10 and do ARCT! Never know!
I actually think she was going to retake her Grade 10 but I don’t know if she ever gave an update
@@benlizon She planned her grade 10 retake for January 2020, but as you said , never gave an update
So glad to see you again! We missed you :) It’s great to hear from you and hearing about your goals and achievements.
Good luck in your studies and the album. Always looking forward to videos from this channel. Thanks for such informative content over the years.
We're glad to see you going back to Uni! We know you're gonna do great. Thank you for all the tips you've given us
A very nice summary of your current life. It fills out a lot that I didn't get or missed before. Wishing you the best and hope the academics go well.
Allysia, congratulations on your new singles, album and return to the classroom as a student! You continue to be an inspiration!
Best of luck in university, your album and all your endeavors! Enlarging one's world in a multitude of directions is such an exhilarating activity -- keep going!
Awesome 👏 you rock coach 🎹😁
You have helped me so much. Good luck!! Thanks 😊
Getting excited to hear the album!!!
I wish good things for you! Thank you for all the informative videos you've made. I've found them very helpful.
Love listening to your thoughts and plans🙏
So happy to hear you’re going to school! Going as an adult is a dream for me. Will you vlog about your classes / progress? Sending happy vibes for the year to come
Your channel is such an inspiration. You've got this and being an adult learner can be so rewarding. It sounds like you are getting to know yourself and your strengths. I always found I needed 'study sprints' and super random ways of helping me focus when things get repetitive, as am also an 'outside the box' learner. Sending lots of clarity as you find your path! What a great way to share your talent with the world. Bravo!
Hello, I wanted to let you know that your videos are very helpful. Thank you so much. It has really helped me understand the different aspects of piano. I wish you the best of luck for university, your course, and music album ✨
great to hear from you!! i've recently discovered ur channel and there's still a LOT of other videos to binge so don't worry abt uploading videos too much!! also, good luck with uni, i hope ur able to pick a course that suits u best!!
Hey,
great to hear from you!!
Hope uni works out!
I look foward to the RCM stuff you used to post.
I really enjoy the candid way you express yourself and your down to earth approach in your videos. It doesn't sound fake and full of sales pitches line most other programs. Thank you for doing all the videos.
Very inspiring!
Good for you! Congratulations on going to University at this time. It's a huge commitment especially with everything else in your life.
My journey is very similar to yours with a couple of flips and twists. My musical background began with learning accordion and clarinet when I was very young, self teaching string bass & tenor sax) (HS jazz band), tuba (HS marching band), oboe (junior symphony) and organ - began playing professionally (organ and tenor sax) 6 nights a week in high school and college. After college, I owned and operated several music stores and taught organ and accordion - all ages from ages 5 through mid eighty year olds. Sold the business and moved into the media business which was my primary focus in college. Self taught piano while oldest daughter was taking piano lessons in my mid 30’s.
Now, after 30 years of playing and practicing in spurts - reasonably competent with most Chopin, Mozart, Beethoven & Mendelssohn (I find Felix to be the most difficult technically) but actually spend most of my time with jazz - particularly standards (if I actually had a style, it would be close to Bill Evans although I really wish I could do a better impersonation of Oscar Peterson). You have such an engaging personality and talent that your adventures described in this video will no doubt be immensely rewarding. Mike
I don’t even play the piano and I enjoy watching her station. Her energy and love for (all) music is infectious.
Hey this was a great sharing, I think it's journey of Paideia you making right now. Looking forward to the new version of expanded experience in your coming video's. Oh by the way I enjoyed thh filming you did, it was amazing!... keep up the good work stay blessed and fantastic from Worrell London.
You will never regret going to Uni. Enjoy the journey 😊 Good Luck
Thanks!
You appear filled w/enthusiasm, energy, intelligence & passion☀️. How refreshing to see 👍👏 (compared to daily ‘mainstream news’). Thank you for sharing, and wishing you well on your adventurous life’s journey!
I am glad you shared a little of your history and the challenges you have had when younger and your realization that one can change...I was quite opposite whereas I was good in school but a bad adult...I got in all kinds of trouble with addiction and the law..after college but I am no longer that person.
I hope you are successful in your university studies.
I hope the best for your family.
i think you are doing great! having a kid, attending school, and running a business... You are a role model for me.
Hi babe! Glad you're back!
You are the most awesome-est woman on the planet for making this video. You made amends in your life and making a comeback and have a plan you for your life. I am proud thst you are a piano teacher as well as overcoming learning discapacities. And so soo proud thst u are going to univeristy to get a degree. I graduated high school at 18 years old, didnt finish college or university, got married at 30 years then had my children, then went back to school to get my Bachelors Degree at 40 years old ( i went full time to school and full time work) so my kids could have a better future. At 47 yearsnold, I started to learn piano. At 50 years old, I can read , write and play piano. I iwsh i could have learned piano at a young age but I couldnt sit still. Piano was tedious and cumbersome. No matter how old you are-- when there’s a will there is a way. Its never too late to finish school, learn a new instrument or get back on track with life. You can do it. I did it. So can you. On an off item: i wish i could marry you.sooo beautiful
Thank you for sharing, so great to see you back on RUclips! Your journey to Uni is inspiring, it will definitely expand your horizons, and you will accomplish whatever you set your mind too 😃👌🏻😊 That song and video were amazing, wow!
Your mindset for uni is excellent 👍🏻if you’d like to learn how world works, might I suggest taking some economics courses. Also, if you want to sharpen your logic and critical thinking skills, there are no better subjects than Math and CS. Math courses like Stats are highly applicable and will change the way you look at the world (also Calculus and Linear Algebra). I suggest you at least TRY a Comp sci course , it will intro you to a whole field that is revolutionizing the world.. Programming takes a lot of logical thinking, can be done from the comfort of your home, and there are endless opportunities for creativity (you can CREATE virtual tools, works of art, etc).. you will not regret trying out CompSci! 😃Remember you can always complete minor(s) for your degree.
All the best from Mississauga 🇨🇦 I’ really happy for you and all your fans are cheering you on! 🥳🙌🏻😊
Thoughtful and actionable suggestions! I have MS in Computer Science and agree.
Do you think in the future or when you find time, you plan to make some videos regarding higher level piano students? I know that many students are in the beginner-intermediate stage
but as I have progressed, I have found a longing for your rcm videos but at a later level.
P.S: I love your videos!
👏🏻
My kid has that same sippy cup you have back there lol
You should do a day in a life of a university student
Just out of curiosity, can you play any Chopin études, scherzos, or ballades?
Hi 💜 How are you 🧚♀️
📌🎥👍🏻
Take a global econ class, they'll make you think, write, and you'll learn a lot about the world.
hiiiiiiiiii
Without university level education in music how were you able to teach piano lessons at a school? I'm curious
Some schools accept certificates from RCM, ABRSM, Trinity, AMEB etc. as qualifications to teach.
Anatomy of Criticism and other books by Northrop Frye for delving deep into the art and philosophy of writing with cognizance of the spiritual. Into the Woods by John Yorke for great insights into how and why Storytelling works. From Dawn to Decadence by Jacques Barzun for western historical perspective of influences in the arts and sciences. For the polymath inclined. Et al.
One life, endless fascinations.
sweet man - you get it - above my head - but is comforting to know someone is thinking hard - it is nice to be enthused.
What you said kinda sounds like ADHD that went untreated and unaddressed for some time.
If it’s still a matter that bothers you maybe consider getting it checked by a psychiatrist.

Guess you don't need a university degree to teach music privately. Otherwise you need a bachelor of ed. to teach in a public school.
It's getting common for people to return to school later in life. After graduating, you may decide to devote part of your time to performing music than just teaching. Good luck to your future endeavor.
the REAL cost of going back to university… 😄😂😱🤫🤷♀️cannot be put into a # sign
I miss your old thumbnails, they were so quirky 😔
