  • In this video I copy the design of my pine traditional milking stools and instead use ash. Enjoy

Ive been making some benches and furniture with that burning technique. im sure its been a european thing for years but i learnt about it as Shou-sugi-ban a japanese method, and i scrape back the char with a wire brush and it really beings out the grain textures and darkens the wood underneath

You know why milking stools only have three legs?
Because the cow's got the 'udder'

Beautiful work! My oldest son built a stock trailer for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in 1998. We charred the wood floor and oiled it. Was the first trailer I’d seen done that way. All these years later, they’re all done that way. He’s quite the innovator. You remind me very much of him.

Lad that is what I call woodworking. And I might add one of the best I have seen thus far . I wonder what other projects you intend to share with your audience. God bless you lad and your family.

Very nice. I like the bunrt finish on that. I've never seen a piece of furniture done that way but I'm going to give it a go. Nicely done sir

Nice. Three legged stools never wobble on uneven ground.

Nice build. You over charred that one stool. I had done the same thing. Live and learn. Ha

Glad to see your proper self doing the RUclips videos now, I don't use TikTok so the first I'd heard of ye was some gowl who is apparently knocking off your content

Fantastic. All the information you need and none you don't. Making on of these soon but with a slice of a log so its round bottomed. Love the way you did the legs

One thing I know is for wedges, it's better to use a soft wood cause it will expand and shrink as it settles

Sure the video is edited, but do watch your hand placement for safety, and perhaps safer speed, eh?

What angle do you use for the holes for the legs and what size hole?

Does anyone know of a video on a one leg milking stool being made? The kind with a belt strap over the lap so it stays with you from cow to cow.
