    Your video was the best one I have seen. It deals with the process in the order it's done. It isn't 3 hours long. Thank You!!! For realizing we probably already know how to save a file and navigate the operating system. I couldn't watch some of the others. I felt like I was back in a Boeing certification classroom where they literally had to teach some folks how to log on to the computer.

    Very nice video. I've been wanting to get started using a CNC router without breaking the bank. This video inspired me to buy a Bobs and get started. I plan on getting my kids involved and make this a learning experience for everyone. Thanks.

      Geo that is awesome.. You will not regret the purchase. Bobs support is out of this world amazing. Checkout my E3 install video for tips and all my other videos using it. Its an awesome CNC. Find Bobscnc on Facebook. We have a group of people that own it and its a great place to share and ask questions. Not trying to push my product, but once you get the cnc built, you may want a device to keep the bit free of dust so you can see your work piece. I make and sell something called a "Bit Duster". It uses the air generated from the router to redirect on the bit to keep your cut free of sawdust. Here is a link.. thats down the road.. but it works amazing. -Brian www.ebay.com/itm/Bit-Duster-E3-CNC-/122937289460

    Nice video!
    FYI, the cut depth on the main screen only controls the depth for engraving, it has no effect in v-carve mode. That is why it is grayed out when you switch to v-carve mode. I just wrote a note to myself to relabel it "Engrave Depth" in the future.

      Scorch Works Thank you!!!! That makes sense... You did a very nice job on the software... Bob at Bobscnc picked this software as the one to get everyone started... I have to say... I downloaded and reviewed 15 CNC softwares... This one and Easel were the easiest to use. And easel can't do vcarving with out trying to trick it... So... At the moment you hold a pretty good lead on the competition on ease of use and speed on learning. Keep up the great work. Got it all working...finally! Your video has been a godsend for navigating this. Question: How can I get F-engrave to etch out the entire letter or image rather than just outline it? For instance if I create a simple heart shape, can F-Engrave etch 1/64 of an inch into the wood to create a negative heart shape that I can then fill with paint or epoxy? Thanks!

    • @WoodenCreationz
      @WoodenCreationz  6 лет назад

      Mr. Quintron awesome an! In regards to your question I don't remember off hand. You might shoot the maker of f engrave that question. I know in easel you're able to choose whether or not to do the inside line or outside line. And I've been playing with vcarve a lot and there's an option to choose to do the inside letter if you wish. Again probably best to double-check with the maker of f engrave. 👊🏻

    Great Video. Thank you so much. Can you only do outlines of images in 2D? Is is possible to do a cut that will cut out the middle in a 2.5D with this CNC router? Can you do 2.5D with F-engrave and g-code sender? Can you download a 3D image and then change it up with these programs and do a carve? I hope I am asking this in the correct way that makes since.... LOL New at this. Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Evan Kenison A lot of great questions. Most I can’t answer. Those might be best directed to the Fengrave guy. But it sounds like you need a 3D software. That is not Fengrave but there are 3D softwares our there that can do what your asking. I haven’t got there yet. Allcustomz has.... bob is cheering for me to dive in. I’m still trying to catch everyone else up on the softwares you can play on for free... But yes... some times you cAn make a cut and it looks 3D. Hope that helps answer your question!! Brian

    Hey back again on a different video, question do you recommend the V bit for all types of cuts? Do you use different bits for different things? I feel like the main things would be the v cut or engrave, but what about if you are cutting out designs from the wood and need to go all the way though? Do you raise the piece you are cutting off of the bed or just leave it on there and? lol

    • @WoodenCreationz
      @WoodenCreationz  6 лет назад

      Alex Brensike You use a vbit to do a name or fine detail work. If you want or cut through the board use a straight bit. (Looks like a drill bit) I put a board under my piece I’m cutting. That way I can cut through but don’t cut into my spoil board that comes with the machine.

I don't want it to damage my bit."IF" my feed rate is, like, 3-5"/min, or slower, I don't see why that would hurt it, but if there is a plunge rate, will it back track a couple of times to complete the full penetrated cut? can I set it to cut .125" passes, multiple times without stopping? Dragon Don Ahhh I see what your saying.. I set that point as center by clicking the rest button for x,y,z. Hey Brian, can you do a video how to with Easel? I'm having problems getting the file from it to my Bob's....Thanks!

    • @WoodenCreationz
      @WoodenCreationz  7 лет назад

      Enig Ma I think that's an excellent idea and I keep trying to get free time so I can do it. I like to make stuff (RUclips channel) does a great job explaining how to use the software. But he leaves off how to send it to a machine that's not Inventables. What's you've designed what you want. Click on machine at the top, click advanced, then click generate G code button. Then throw that file in your G code sender program and you can cut. Setting the CNC to automatically use the software botches it and usually ends up in a phone call to Bob to have him help your revert back the firmware. 👊🏻 Which you don't want to do. Will work on a video in the next week or 2. Finishing up a soundproof/dustproof enclosure for the E3. Will have a quick video on it in the following days. -Brian

      First i do apologize, didn't mean to be insensitive, I'd forgotten, that many u tubers have real lives Jobs, family, obligations, etc...... again, Sorry. But, in my defense so many of them, put out soo much content, that we as viewers forget they probably do have lives.
      OK now on to the GOOD NEWS. I did a lot of research after your video mentioned EASEL, (downloaded, played with,created some files..etc) and I've already watched "I LIKE TO MAKE STUFF", video (an a lot of his content).
      THE BAD NEWS: you're right, he doesn't go into detail on sending it to non-vcarve machines. I checked the help boards at easel and, came across a guy who had done it, and said he had to flash his audrino from the bob's site, as a result. He also, tweaked it, tried again, and it worked fine! so i messaged him, asking, what he'd done differently, he never replied. I decided to take the plunge. Well you can imagine how that went,( I have to call BOB).
      Which i've been putting off a week, now. Beause i'm female and didn't want to sound like a girl.lol
      I'll just suck it up, an get on that tomorrow, as i work 12hr days, 4days a week at amazon...very tired. Athough i bought my E3 in March and put it together, i really haven't had too much "tinker time" with it. Researched, watched videos, and read alot, but didn't "DO" until you convinced me i could.,
      Thankyou for taking the time to answere my question, Again i apologized for not realising you live in the real world just like we do, and you probably won't need to make the video,
      as, again you've been very thorugh with your how-to, explaination.

    So everything is going real well for me with BobsCNC but i had a few questions, when im not using a vbit and instead using a strait bit or different bit, should i use a different program or can i use fengrave but do i change the settings from vcarve to engrave? Also how do you properly cut through pieces of wood? Do you use a different bit, and what settings/program do you use? Ive tried fengrave but i have an issue where the bit will get stuck and sometimes fall out of the spindle but also cutting aggressively and making the cut look terrible so at the moment ive given up. Any help?

    • @WoodenCreationz
      @WoodenCreationz  6 лет назад

      Alex Brensike Hey Alex. Yes you will need to select the bit size for each project. I would look at inventables easel program for using the straight bit. Im in the middle of filming a tutorial on how to use it. You can use a vbit in that program as well. They didn’t write it for a vbit but just select 1/32 bit and it works fine. Your bit should never fall out of the spindle. Make sure you have the right collet and have it tightened up tight. It’s loose as snot until I tighten mine... then it doesn’t budge.

    • @TheKhaoticGamers
      @TheKhaoticGamers 6 лет назад

      Yea for the vbit and strait bit i have to change the collet, Its really hard to get it tight since the spindle doesnt have a "lock" holding the spindle in place while tightening it is a pain, for the most part its tight but i cant get it really tight since it just keeps slipping from me when i try to do any more. How do you do yours?

    • @WoodenCreationz
      @WoodenCreationz  6 лет назад

      Alex Brensike I have to do the balancing act to get it to stay until I can get both wrenches to tighten and then it is rock solid. Can’t remember the 2 wrench sizes it takes to tighten it.

    • @TheKhaoticGamers
      @TheKhaoticGamers 6 лет назад

      Yea same for me but i use pliers instead which might be the hard way of doing things, how do you use wrenches? one for the part that detaches but where does the other one go? Im not at home or i would look at it to see but i have to use 1 wrench and then pliers to try and keep it from spinning while i tighten it.

    • @WoodenCreationz

      Mr. Quintron it's pretty easy Bud. Go to this website and download the nightly build. Link is in the description As well. I also have a video in regards to using easel with your CNC and I walk you through step-by-step how to use gcode sender. winder.github.io/ugs_website/

      Mr. Quintron check out this video in regards to easel. I showed you the steps in regards to how to use Universal G-Code sender. Also easel is another great software and then it's free and it does a lot of what vcarve can do. Vcarve is obviously better but for free easel is the right you should take when you're first starting. Hi! I've recently gotten an E3. Im using it carve stars for flags. However, I've had an issue with a few stars not aligning correctly. it will do 47 stars pefectly, but 3 will be out of place. Any idea how to fix this issue? Thanks!

    • @WoodenCreationz
      @WoodenCreationz  7 лет назад

      Thats a good question... Maybe its the drawing? Another idea is to try inventables easel software. Its free and you could drop the stars and move them around if needed. When your have it how you like it, go to machine, advanced and create the Gcode... and then drop it in your gcode sender. Its another great free software.

    How much do you need to know about computers and coding in order to have one of these?

    • @WoodenCreationz
      @WoodenCreationz  6 лет назад

      Straight up... It's not hard. You have have a little computer knowlege. I install ugs, easel, or fengrave.. Java... If you can do that... You just need to get some scrap wood and do a little practicing. In about 3 projects you will be an expert. I laid these videos out so it's start to finish. The CNC takes about 8 hours to assemble but it was never hard. The biggest thing is Bob stands behind his product and will write you back and will help you if you need it... Weekends, holidays, after hours... The guy wants to make sure you get it going... If you have a desire to have one.. you will do great... We have a Facebook group as well that is a great group of people... Bob just released a bigger E4 cnc and I both you go with that one... It's an amazing machine a year and a half later... I have more videos using the CNC if you didn't see them. 👊🏻😉

    • @WoodenCreationz
      @WoodenCreationz  7 лет назад

      Samuel Harvey There is a percent size I think at the top left for making it larger if you want to change size... Can't remember off hand. Another software that I play with that is free is easel with inventables. It's Gui so you can drop and drag it larger and smaller. Then click machine, advanced and then export the gcode. Then throw it in gcode sender. If you want to stick to f-engrave...

      Samuel Harvey Try easel.... You can easily squeeze it to the exact size you wish. I like F-engrave when I'm very carving and I like easel when I'm cutting. You can vcarve in easel but have to do it for the wrong bit.

    • @WoodenCreationz

    • @WoodenCreationz
      @WoodenCreationz  5 лет назад

      Pretty much nailed with the E3 CNC dimensions are. There is a larger CNC by Bob CNC it's a E4. It's a 30 by 37 by 8.9. Here is their website www.bobscnc.com/products/e4-cnc-router
      Easel is another software you can use for this CNC. It creates a file called gcode and then you use ugs to cut it.

      googIereallysucks Use a straight bit vs a vcarve bit and you can cut instead of engrave your work. Easel by Inventables allows you to easily slide the depth of cut bar up and down. 👊🏻

      Have to say... its worth the money.. I tried to lay out enough bread crumbs for anyone to do it.. Its not hard and it gives stellar cuts every time.. I have worried one day it would fall apart or something might not work when I went to turn it on.. So far I have used it about every day for a month.. I had 1 set screw back out.. The cnc would dive a little deeper at times... I replaced the set screw, put lock tight on it... I have cut 5 gears and a template I am getting ready to put my name on... No more slipping or deep cuts since the lock tight. Have to say... you get more bang for your buck with this CNC... Bob asked for my honest opinion... The reviews on amazon are legit.. the thing is rock solid and I have a million ideas to do and try... Stay tuned to the channel... Shooting more videos as we speak.. Also check me out on Instagram at Woodencreationz if you want to see more behind the scenes stuff of the CNC in action.. I wanted more content before I dropped my money on this cnc... I wanted to see a bunch of proof that the thing actually works and can keep up with all my ideas I want to try... F-engrave and Easel are the 2 best softwares I have found to use with it when you get yours... Hit me back when you get yours up and going.. Im sure if you found this video... you found my install video on the E3... Good luck trying to make stuff for yourself.. I have spent more time making things for others than I have made for myself..
