I say loosely because really the only share the name and the name of a few characters and a very basic plotline. In the comic, Wesley's story starts off the same but he is recruited by a group of supervillains and lives in a world where there is no superheroes. He then proceeds to rape, murder, and steal his way through the world till the other gangs start a war. Also, another fun fact, the characters of Wesley, Fox, and Wesley's dad were all modeled off of real, famous, people. Wesley's father was modeled off of Tommy Lee Jones, Fox was modeled off of Hailie Barry, and Wesley was modeled off of Marshall Matthers aka Eminem. Some other characters in the book are also supposed to be similar to DC villains. For example, Wesley Gibson is Deadshot, Fox is supposed to be Catwoman (hence Hailie Barry), a character named Shithead is supposed to be Clayface, Fuckwit and Bizzaro, Imp and Mr. Mxyzptlk, Doll-Master and Toyman, The Professor and Lex Luthor, Mr Rictus is a mix between Joker and Black Mask, Adam One and Vandal Savage, The Emperor and Ra's Al Ghul, Sucker and Parasite, Brain Box and Brainiac, Avian and Penguin, Freightner and Scarecrow, Puzzler and Riddler, Deadly Nightshade is based on Poison Ivy, Johnny Two-Dicks and Two-Face, The Mad March Hare and Mad Hatter,
