  • Welcome back to the forge, where we turn steel into art and utility! In today's mesmerizing video, witness the transformation of humble bearing balls into a blade of unparalleled sharpness. Join me as I delve into the ancient craft of blacksmithing and breathe life into raw metal, shaping it into a tool that not only slices effortlessly through flesh but defies the very essence of its origin by cutting through iron itself.
    Watch in awe as each hammer blow refines the metal, imbuing it with strength and resilience. Hear the sizzle of hot steel meeting water, the hallmark of tempering, as the blade takes on its final form, honed to perfection.
    But this isn't just any knife; it's a testament to ingenuity and craftsmanship. Crafted from discarded bearing balls, it proves that beauty can emerge from the most unexpected places. Whether you're a seasoned bladesmith or a curious onlooker, this video promises to ignite your passion for the age-old art of forging.
    Join me on this journey of creation and discovery, and witness the birth of a blade that defies expectations. Hit that subscribe button and ring the notification bell to never miss an episode of forging magic!

      @@masterknives555 Gern geschehen. Ich kann mir gut vorstellen das dies nicht einfach war. Vorallem sind die Arbeitsschritte langwierig. Das Material muss auch die richtige Temperatur haben dann schnell schmieden. Ich bin gelernter Schlosser, habe mich mal versucht ein Messer zu schmieden. Aus einem Imbusschlüssel ( Schwarz ) . Falsche Kohle genommen, ging irgendwie doch noch. Mehr schlecht als recht aber das Messer habe ich noch heute. Ich freue mich auf weitere Kunststücke von dir.👍👍👍

    Why don't you temper the knives after heat treatment? Won't they be fragile this way?

    • @masterknives555
      @masterknives555  18 дней назад +2

      Hey there! 🔥 Thanks for checking out my knife-making process! 🗡️ I totally get where you're coming from. Rest assured, I've got the tempering step covered! 😎 After heat treatment, I quench the knives in engine oil to temper them and ensure they're strong and durable. 💪 So, no worries about fragility here! Thanks for watching and asking questions! 🙌

    • @GaisaSanktejo
      @GaisaSanktejo 17 дней назад +1

      I understand your concern about hardening, then tempering blades to reduce their hardnes and ease the risk of the blade being brittle, but I don't believe this is that much of an issue for several reasons;
      Firstly, as Seyran mentioned, he does temper the blades in his own way and I haven't heard of any of his creations breaking.
      Secondly, Seyran tends to make his blades quite thick so they would more durable than the average thinner knife if hardened and not tempered...
      Thirdly, the core of the blade would cool at a slower rate than the outer shell, which means the core steel will be milder and less prone to failure... (similar to case hardening)
      Lastly, most of Seyran's blades are knives, so they are less likely to be subjected to conditions which could compromise the integrity of the blade.

    The striations of different metals in that blade are AMAZING!
    Keep up the good work friend! (Maybe you need a trademark stamp?)
    On a side note, I saw someone commenting about Tempering.
    I did see your hardening the steel and quenching it in oil, but I do understand why he was concerned about tempering, since most smiths I have seen harden the steel like shown in your vids, then tend to lightly heat the steel to a straw color, then set it aside to cool naturally, or they put it in an oven at about 200 degrees for 2-3 hours, then allow to cool without quenching. (which I didn't see)
    His not seeing that second stage probably had him concerned, however, you are making knives which are quite thick compared to a store bought kitchen knife and they aren't swords, so I don't believe it is an issue

    • @masterknives555
      @masterknives555  16 дней назад +1

      🔥 Thanks for the kind words! 🙏 Indeed, those metal striations are a beauty to behold! 😊 I appreciate your support and encouragement! As for the tempering process, it's great to see your interest! While I focus more on hardening and quenching in oil, your insights on the additional steps are spot on. Rest assured, I do temper my blades, ensuring durability and strength. Each piece undergoes careful craftsmanship to ensure quality. 🗡️ Keep watching for more insights into the art of blacksmithing! Cheers! 🌟
