    I replaced the same part, and it went kinda smooth. I took the 4 bolts off at the bottom to have some "play". I cut the turn signal switch wires and pull it out, since its been replaced (it made no sense to try to pull it up thru everything). From the bottom, there is a plastic cover for the wires. I inserted something there to keep it open and slid the new wires from the top, pushing it with a long metal piece and it went thru fairly easy. The rest was simple. In my case the plastic part on the left inside part is worn out so the mechanism does not "grab it" when using the turn signals. I'll probably make a cut, to get thru it, and manually connect it. I had watched this video to get an idea but ended up just doing it and see what needed to be done as I did it. Since I'm there already, I'm taking everything apart, to clean, fix, etc. Thanks for the video!

    93 jeep sitting in my driveway for the better part of a year and this just saving my bacon I was getting ready to part it out over this and an expensive problem but now I'm willing to fix the expensive problem because I know I can fix this matter of fact I already have it apart and already stepped the wire it's getting it back together that I wish there was a video on because I did that quite a while ago after watching this video and then had to wait for other parts

      Best of luck getting it back together. That’s always the worst, having to remember how to get stuff back together after a break. 👍

    Leave it to Jeep to make a simple turn indicator switch into a 5,000 part equation full of fragile connectors that are all broken or rusted away

    • @flatlandjeeper5724
      @flatlandjeeper5724  Год назад

      Absolutely. But I remember reading somewhere that Jeep sourced a lot of their columns from GM. The one ignition tumbler I have replaced was a GM part#. So.. blame GM? Lol

    You can literally replace the your engine, transmission, wiring, miscellaneous body parts, tires, lift kit, new paint, etc, etc , etc, and all that will never equal the price of a new truck. I can fix my Comanche over and over probably for the rest of my life and never spend 30 thousand and up dollars! But I will definitely be driving my jeep pickup for the rest of my life.

    So my brake lights, turn signals, horn and my hazards don’t work. Is what you replaced the culprit you think?

    • @flatlandjeeper5724
      @flatlandjeeper5724  3 года назад

      Not sure. Could be multiple issues. Could be for signals and hazards but you thrown in the other things. It working and sounds mire like a bad ground or possibly wires chewed through? I would start by diagnosing the brake lights since that is a safety issue and could possibly help resolve the turn signals. Good luck!

    I'm thinking maybe a 2-way by-pass using a small motorcycle battery on the floor and alligator clips, one for each side, through a KUSTOM flasher module. Thoughts??

    • @flatlandjeeper5724
      @flatlandjeeper5724  3 года назад

      That’s one way to go about fixing it but if you are gonna do that much work why not fix it the correct way?

    Cutting to get to the wiper switch? I got a far as you and there must be a way to pop off that plastic cover? I was really hoping you would of shown the switch from the angle I can't see (where you say there is a bolt you can't see). Did you ever hear or find another way to access this before I start breaking the column? Thanks!

    • @flatlandjeeper5724

      I had to do cutting because I loosed a couple of screws/bolts that I should t of had and things fell apart inside.

      @@flatlandjeeper5724 HI thanks for responding. I have no power going back to my passenger rear brake / turn signal. Rev and running lights work on that side as they should and the drivers rear everything works perfectly. I checked at the wire plug for the light and no power to the blinker/brake prong, then followed the wires up where they run under the lip to the drivers door, no power there. Then followed up under the dash and no power at the connector coming from the blinker switch. I couldn't figure out where the power was coming into the switch to check that. In my head the switch is the only thing left that could have gone bad, but idk what would have caused just that wire to go bad out of the blue. Any thoughts? Also all fuses and relays are good. Thank you!

    • @flatlandjeeper5724
      @flatlandjeeper5724  2 года назад

      Sounds like you did a lot of good trouble shooting. The only question is did you check the ground path? I believe these ground through the bolts that hold the fixture to the body. Remove those bolts, remove the housing and check and clean any corrosion if you haven’t done that already.
      I also believe that there is a connector inside the rear wheel well that you will see if you remove the housing and look down inside. But if you are not getting any power at the light, this might be a red herring but would be worth a check. If the vehicle has one of those cheap four way flat trailer wiring setups it could be causing it to short out but you would see power downstream from the switch. Again, probably not the culprit but worth a check. Also if there is any other additional wiring from the vehicle being towed behind an RV or something of the sort. Just throwing out other possible things to check if you have not already. Also, swap bulbs around if you haven’t already just to verify the bulb is good. Those bastards can be deceiving and look good still.
      I think you have hit all the major test points. The biggest thing I would say is double down on some research and get ahold of a wiring diagram to verify where the power is coming into the switch from before you take the leap and put in a new switch. I bought a factory reproduction in searchable PDF that was shipped on a disc on eBay. The company is Bishko Automotive Literature. If you can’t find the specific one for your Jeep message them and ask from a different listing. They were super helpful.

      Oh also, check the flasher. Again, without a diagram I’m just thinking out loud.

      If you have the nut in the middle removed, the two closest holes to the nut at the 3 and 9 o’clock position should be threaded. You can either try to wiggle the wheel off or I used a harbor freight steering wheel puller. www.harborfreight.com/steering-wheel-remover-set-63685.html
