Makes sense to me. The main gun also has limited ammo too, he's been finding loads of coaxials if he wants a replacement, and the 20mm ammo is much more valuable and useful. He doesn't even seem to habitually use the coaxial against its favoured target, drones, so it seems to me he's at much greater risk of running out of 20mm than coaxials.

The art direction on this reminds me a bit of the Simon Stålenhag art books. This mix of wild/overgrown nature and retro-futuristic tech. If this was on steam it would have been an instant buy. As a current epic exclusive I'll have to think a bit about whether: 1. I remember/can easily recover my epic store credentials. 2. Am willing to buy it again when it does come to steam.
And 3. are willing to bet that the devs will actually keep the Epic version updated to the same level as the Steam version. I recently learned that they sometimes don't. Oh, and great observation about the Simon Stålenhag paintings. I've got one as a poster.
Steam has an excellent system for updates. I have seen that from early access titles that's simultaneously on Steam and GOG. While you could get an update once in a blue moon on GOG, the same game got new patches up to several times a week. Some push critical updates within hours apart, and that speaks volumes about the speedy handling from Steam.
Oh, I forgot. EGS is a no-go for me because of the exclusivity tactics they're using, so I'm voting with my wallet. It's of course sad about the game devs lost income, but I don't want the console wars revived for PC.
Oh yeah, good catch. Couldn’t place it, but now that you’ve said it aloud. I kinda want to get this. I’ve no issue with Epic, but I want to see if they add more levels or expand the story. If all that comes with a move to Steam, all the better. But if not, Epic isn’t a dealbreaker
This video took a really nice turn in good direction very fast indeed. At first, I thought off was like another tank game that I am not going to play while heavily invested in the other one. Plus, all others are not as good. Then this tuns out not to be actual tank game in the same sense as something completely different with a great twist as well. I like the concept. I think this will be great video series for Jingles.
This reminds me of a game i played onthe PS2 where you played as a tank vs armies of tanks. That game had crazy customization as well including the ability to float on water or fly.
Tankhead has some major issues. The stuttering Jingles mentioned near the start of the video doesn't go away even with newer/higher specs than what Jingles has. There doesn't seem to be a huge selection of tank components (for example, only normal wheels, speed wheels, and armored wheels//normal engine, armored engine, supercharged engine) and it's possible to get best-in-game weapons from random collectibles around the first map, making a lot of the rest of the content trivial. I beat the game in about 5 hours of gameplay, on my second run. I have NO IDEA why they decided to make this a roguelike. All of the distortion effects give me a headache, too. EDIT: Oh yeah, the enemy-popping-in mechanic that Jingles mentions a couple times? The more of the map objectives you've completed, the more frequently it happens. This is to discourage you from sweeping the map after you've cleared it to farm more chips and resources. I've had it happen as often as every three minutes, with the first minute of that being fighting off the wave.
Saw another creator go for the 3rd map, and had a new group drop in before they could deal with the previous. Granted, they're no "rattlesnake on crack" teenager, but they showed good situational awareness, had found the single shot load 90mm gun as an upgrade on that map, so their biggest issue was ammunition and ultimately their demise in that run. It didn't look like from the video that they had swept the map, they stated in the video that they were beelining the main objectives. It wasn't easy groups either, 1-2 tanks with from 2 to at least 4 drones in each. With those hurdles to overcome, it was no wonder they ran out of ammunition and perished. So it doesn't get better the further and more kitted out you get. Rather, the opposite seems true in that build.
That's a bummer to hear. I was hoping for a variety of customization...tracks vs wheels, armor layouts, turret positions, etc...be able to become a heavy tank or fast scout or balanced MBT, etc.
@tachometer74 That could be possible in the future, as it's an early access demo now. There are definitely heavier chassis with tracks that have their own changeable engines, from about equal size to the size of the player without front or side armor, to much wider than the fully armored up player vehicle. But those enemies seemingly don't have tracks that's possible to change currently. That, too, could be an early access deal to avoid already having all the assets ready.
Thanks for that Jingles, I enjoyed it quite a bit, I think this is another that I dont think I want to play (also old and crap) but I will happily watch you
