    I use this DE razor after struggling with others in the past. The adjustable is really handy for someone starting out using these razors, and helps with sensitive skin. Best tip I can give is, let the weight do the work for you.

    Nice demo of a bar soap shave. I have a friend that uses Ivory bar soap, for at least 35 years. No brush either! I'm not a fan of Ivory, but as you say many people use bar soap to shave. Plow through, get it done, get it done cheap and easy. My skin wouldn't take it.
    Love the big bloom flower display. Wish you and the Mrs a pleasant week!

    • @PaulHFilms

      Yes, I think quite a few people use this sort of way to shave, I would not like to do it often, but love this scent....many thanks, and have a great week too :-)

    Hi Paul- Great Sunday shave and product reviews; thank you! Nice idea using the hand soap for a shave in a pinch. Very nice-looking razor, as well. Very pretty arrangement of flowers from Mrs H- thank you! Sunday dinner sounds lovely; hope you enjoy your afternoon. Take care and and all the best for the week ahead!

    This looks like a really smooth shave. I can only use single razor Bic disposables because anything else rips my whiskers out, not matter how hard I press to avoid it dragging.

    Morning Paul, well I'm pleased that you have used the Wright's soap. We were talking about that on the FB group, I've yet to try it.
    I see you were gifted the Weishi Razor as well...:-)... I have looked on the net for the butterfly Matte Black version (non adjustable) with emblem for a week now, managed to find one in the U.S at a price, but still.
    What I can't find is their Blades!
    Just got to yr 1st pass so I'll carry on watching untill the end, so far so good. I was hoping you would have face lathered straight with the soap. But anyway, Fantastic...

    • @PaulHFilms
      @PaulHFilms  5 лет назад +1

      Many thanks, apart from dissipating , it left a nice slickness, and a great scent, considering it's a hand soap. The razor is very nice, good weight to it, the blades came with this razor. Have a great weekend :-)

    • @Drcharlesworth
      @Drcharlesworth 5 лет назад

      @@PaulHFilms well, I've watched until the end and a couple of points.
      I never realized that the blade on these butterfly razors could be unequal either side, I have seen it on mine, but I thought it would be ok, I'm glad you pointed that out.
      You Never Cut Yourself !.......which is the whole point of.......'the Art of Shaving'........IMO....so you had a decent shave with an old fashioned soap...... Excellent....
      Lastly, I see you went down the scale on the razor as you went thru the passes. I haven't got an adjustable, and I was a bit confused whether one goes up or down thru pass 1 - 2 & 3. To be honest that's what I thought I would do, and finish at a relatively low setting.
      Thank you for this video.
      All the Best....

    I remember using Shield soap when I first started shaving in the early 80's if I didn't have any shaving foam. It was the brand my mum used to buy. As a greasy teenager it helped dry up my skin a bit. They still sell it if you fancy shaving like your granddad.

    Thank you for sharing this week Sir Paul...the experiment with hand-soap seems like a good idea, but no lather...too risky for my taste...
    I do own a Weishi & it is not my favorite razor, I only use it for traveling..the Musk is a plus & of course you're own brush....

    Happy Sunday Paul! Gorgeous Flowers...thank you Mrs. H! I find the glasses help me see the fine details. If you need them, use them. I like that you demonstrate "How to ..." for the viewers. Hand soap works in a pinch, but so does a few other pantry items. Messy but workable include butter, coconut oil/butter, olive oil, and possible mayonnaise. Your set-up is surely doing the job. Post Office box in the States cost from about $40 to $150 per year depending on size of the box and geographical region. My favorite Aqua Velva is the 1940's thru 1960's Ice Blue. That scent brings me back to my childhood. Getting closer to my trip to the UK. Really need to sort out my plans. Thanks for these enjoyable videos and take care.

    On the subject of soap bars; could you do a video of you shaving with Cussons Imperial Leather soap and then washing your whole face with the same soap after you finish shaving?Imperial Leather always seems to have a rich, creamy lather so I think it would be ideal soap for shaving with.

    Wrights coaltar soap now there's a blast from the past. When I first started DE wet shaving back when I lived at my mums house I used this soap and nothing else. It's cheap, smells nice and believe it or not with a bit of elbow grease you can get a passable foam from it. It also is excellent soap for shaving if you have sensitive or sore skin because it contains teatree oil, they put that in instead of actual coaltar. I used it for shaving for years. Now I use ether Arko or Derby shaving soaps or sticks, but we all start somewhere. Excellent video Paul as ever, see you on the next one. 😊 👍

    Wright's replaced the coal tar with tea tree due to an EU directive. Carbolic soap also now has to be marketed as a household soap only. I think it was due to the irritation that can be caused through constant exposure.
    When shaving I always use lathering soap, but shaving the body I always use a Dove bar as through experience I've found it to be the least irritating and it works brilliantly.

    Not a bad shave considering what you had to work with as far as the soap is concerned. For me, If I have a soap that dissipates like that did, I'll lather like the sides of the face and the neck, shave that, then lather the mustache / goatee area and shave that. I know it takes longer, but I get nervous when the lather dissipates. Anyway, my compliments to Mrs. H on the flowers.

    similar to my Vikings blade Augustus razor. I dont like the build of the vikings.. lots of little things about it , i dont like . I guess you could use any thing to make a lather...But we don't watch to see a Hand soap Demo....some poor shaving soap maker was missed in the name of hand soap...since you like to experience new soaps..may we suggest. peanut butter and jelly. Pref Grape my fav no nuts
    Liked the razor and blade...I have many bottles of AV musk. My Fav....may I suggest using mushy peas as a after shave ..it's the only thing their good for...lol...The brush worked well enough on hand soap....but the white bristles not my fav...to fake looking...Flowers Great. No fake flowers
    Or hand soap...lol....well I'll leave you to your soap/shaving lather....cheers!🇬🇧🇺🇸🐈🐈🐈💈💈🍺🍺🍺🍺
