Thank God for Jim Butcher and James Marsters.

James brings so much to characters. Jim can make me tear up, but Marsters makes me ugly cry with his performance. Changes, Cold Days, Battleground all had moments with Marsters performance that had me weeping. "I used the knife. I saved a child. I won a war. God forgive me." Instant blubbering idiot. Even knowing it's coming now, those moments aren't just gut punches. In those moments I'm that character, making those choices, facing those consequences. I'm right there in living color. Jim Butcher and James Marsters are greatest duo of story telling I've ever come across.

James Marsters is such a wonderful performer. I listen to a LOT of audiobooks and what he brings to The Dresden Files makes me treasure those books more than any others. They're wonderful stories on their own, don't get me wrong, and I own the print copies because I love them that much. James adds something very special to those stories. Even when I read the books, I can't help but hear Harry's voice in my head as I turn the pages.

I was driving home on a 3 hour road trip when I read it and started sobbing 😭 I had to sit in the parking lot at home for 20 mins to get it out. Props to James for being able to do that!

I have done this before! James Marsters is an amazing person and narrates these books better than I have heard in book form.

Shit happened to me with Battleground. I was delivering packages in Park City. When that part came up. And I had to pull over and bawl my eyes out for 15 minutes.

I know exactly what you mean. Once I got through chapter 21 and 22 I had to walk away for a little while to get ahold of myself. Such a great book and narrator.

If they do make DF anime, he needs to play Harry in the dub.

I can only see it being done right in an anime adaptation, is just the best medium for all the crazy things, and nailing the character's look.

If they make a Dresden Files anime the OG audio will be English, like the Castlevania series.

I have an unfortunate habit of listening to the books on public transport, but I don't really cry at the sad parts... I annoyingly cry at the joyful, triumphant, or just happy parts. So anytime a familiar character unexpectantly shows up to save the day, or Harry is proud of his friends, or pretty much any time Michael reassures Harry about something (which happens more than you'd think), then this weird, big, 6'2", long haired, bearded, brown skinned, bikie looking dude starts streaming tears in the middle of a crowded bus...

I definitely heard and felt both Harry's and James' emotions in both changes and battlegrounds. Thanks to James I have to listen to the audiobooks instead of just reading them.
