CC. Excellent service: fast and polite. I believe services in Singapore is much better than here. They really emphasize the priority of customers. There are many such ''hidden foodcourt'' at malls for staffs working there and also for people wanting a budget meal. It is actually a bad practise to not let many people know about these places (management often want the crowd to eat at more expensive outlets). Singapore actually does not do these things. Their foodcourt is basically not hidden.
Doug since you seem to venture into the Pudu neighbourhood, I wonder if you had gone up the road in front of the Pudu Plaza all the way up to the T-Junction (Jalan Landak/Jalan Pasar). On the left at the Junction is a building with lots of electronic gadgets and other items, and on Jalan Pasar, on both sides of the road you will find lots of electronic gadgets/spare parts shops as well as stalls selling inexpensive sunglasses, bags, Camara gear and other useful handy items. I know this area quite well as I frequent the area, though my area of major interest was near the Shaw Parade Mall at it's peak of times. Now it is almost at a skeletal state Shaw Parade is just a 6 minute walk away from Berjaya Times Square / Imbi Plaza.
Typical maintenance/repair culture in Malaysia. Unless you raise your voice your camera is just another routine to fix. The attitude is - don't disturb me and I will get in touch when it's done, I cannot estimate the timing because i have thousands of backlogs.
People have explained to me that that is the general idea in Malaysia. As a customer, if you stay quiet and wait patiently, you could be waiting forever. You have to speak up and call them and email them and visit them and keep hounding until something gets done. Unfortunately, my personality is more on the quiet and patient side, so I end up waiting a long, long time. There is also a strong resistance to exchanges and refunds. They are almost impossible to get. It's gotten to the point that I would hesitate making a big purchase or getting repairs done in Malaysia. I think it would be better to wait until you are passing through Thailand or Vietnam. I think the customer service culture there for electronics is better.
Me, too. I always enjoy a visit to the Pudu area. I've often thought it would be nice to settle into a low budget hotel there. I've just never found a hotel that suited my needs and budget.
Cc. When i can tell when someone has the heart of a servant. They treat you like they would want to be treated. In that moment, you are important to them.
At this point, it isn't about preferring one over the other. I could happily use a DJI Action 5 Pro. It has a lot of features that the GoPro lacks. But I happen to have GoPros right now, and they work just fine for me. I would need a compelling reason to go to all the trouble and expense of switching to DJI Action cameras. And there is no such reason for me. It's true that the new Action 5 Pro has a lot of cool features, but I wouldn't end up using most of them. I just need a solid camera that records good-looking video and good audio, and the Hero 12 fits the bill. And there are a lot of things about the GoPro that I actually prefer. But explaining all of those would end turn into long essay... 😂
I'd love to try one out. Friends of mine and fellow RUclipsrs use DJI Action cameras, and I've learned a lot about them. I could happily use a DJI Action 5 Pro, I'm sure. But switching from what I have now would entail a lot of trouble and expense, and I don't see any compelling reason to do so. I like my GoPro gear. In fact, there are actually a lot of things about the GoPro that I prefer over the DJI Action cameras. The one issue I have is overheating. I was quite disappointed when I picked up the Hero 12 to find that it overheated a LOT. That became a big problem in Vietnam. However, I did some testing recently, and it seems that shooting at 50 or 60 FPS had a lot to do with that. By reducing the frame rate to 25 or 30 FPS, I might be able to solve the overheating issue. I'm still testing that, but I'm hoping it won't overheat anymore. The problem with overheating is the one reason I might switch from GoPro to DJI. If I can fix that, I'm quite happy to keep using GoPros.
I don't have any specific plans to go to places like that. They've never seemed that interesting to me or very welcoming. But given the funds and the time, I wouldn't mind. It's just that if, because of limited time and money, you have to choose one place over another, I can think of many other regions of the world I'd choose to visit first before going to former Soviet countries.
bro.. just send it to singapore for repair… u’ll get in time n they do communicate…. malaysian culture is diff.. either u keep quiet or make noise in which they’ll get angry at u for that.. like it’s ur fault now because u got angry… n it’s always ur fault n never theirs… 😐..

I always find Pudu interesting. The morning market is always worth a visit. Plus the ICC.

why do you prefer the gopro hero over the DJI ?

really back in KL 😅
Yes, I was really back, but only for a short time. It was just for the weekend to run a few camera-related errands.
Doug just how about trying Brand DJI Action Camera 5 Pro Just Sharing...

Hi Doug, Any plan to go to former Soviet countries like Uzbekistan or Kyrgyzstan ?

They’re called Canteens.
That's a good word to describe this place. It felt like a canteen.
