Jack Shaefer's novel Shane dramatized hero worship through the eyes of 11-year-old Bob Starrett. The boy worships two types of heroes: his father, Joe, a morally upright, courageous leader, and Shane, an intelligent and ruthlessly just gunslinger.
Shane is the best Western movie ever made. Great acting, story, directing, cinematography, and music. Alan Ladd was born for that role. Good discussion.
Yeah, one of my favourite movies. Another one is 'The Thomas Crown Affair'. I prefer the remake with Pierce Brosnan. Growing up, as a child, 'Billy Budd', was also a powerful story of 'good and evil', though it impressed me less as an adult re-reading it.
