That’s my home waters! Where I learned to fish! Upper section is way better than lower and mid! NEVER HIKE THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE RIVER! Loose gravel and a long, long way down. You can hike south side until right where you caught that first rainbow. Then only hike the north side from there up! Beautiful fishery! An anglers dream!
I've always been partial to the colors sported by brookies, but those browns and rainbows, are undoubtedly the most beautiful trout that I've seen. Thanks for the video.
Fished that quite a bit in the 90’s. Tough smart fish in that section. My friend and I watched some dude land fish after fish one afternoon. I finally asked him how he was doing it and he showed me his setup. No fly line, straight mono with a 7x tippet nymphing, no indicator just watching his line for the slightest hesitation. Next trip We offloaded all our fly line and went straight mono, and voala, started having great success. Nice vid!
20 years ago I explored hippie caves up in that canyon...later occupied by big kitties. Great videos guys, love the content and the dialogue. keep at it!
This is an absolute classic, classic, classic. Lock this up in video safe for posterity. The fish, canyon and rocks were incredible. Good to see Andrew. Sorry about no Elk.
Im from Colorado and I recomend fishing the Huerfano river, its a buetiful place to fish and there is a lake you can hike up to and it has massive native cutthroat trout
Awesome content!! Hey John, which Hardy ultra light LL rod are you using ? I have the 3 wt 9’2” and the 10’8” 0/2 rods. My favorite of the two is the 3 wt 9’2” blank for dries. Thanks!!
I just moved to a little town in the middle of nowhere. The river that runs through it apparently held the state record Brookie though. Kinda likin' this place.
Guys. Really foolish, unnecessary risks on that super steep and unstable slope, with the wrong footwear, no hiking poles etc. Let me share this with you. "No fish is worth dying for."
i get not sharing a spot or sharing coordinates of a sick river or section that you don't want blown up......BUT why begin your post with a story of how difficult this famous river is and if you can catch a fish here you can catch anywhere... if you're gonna add that postproduction after you've caught on "said river", just say the name..... you'll still be able to pat yourselves on the back and be cool. Hope you got an elk in the end.
Idk just a rule of mine, I just don't want to say where I'm fishing. I try to keep it consistent and have for a while regardless of how much pressure or how well known a fishery is.
You ain’t wrong, I’m not even that great 😂 I’ve fished with multiple guys who don’t even have social media that are insanely good fisherman. But this water is tough, even by those standards
The climbing and the obstacles we overcome for those bastards! Yip...it's worth it. Then again, shoot an elk and you won't believe the work you'll go thru getting it out. 😢
Because when I fly out to Co I’d rather not have to figure out how to pack a net 😂 so we just use Andrew’s net. It’s kind of annoying, may buy a second one so we both have one when I’m out there
@@Grilledcheeseisgood11 Nah, that's not how it works. Fisheries become world famous when there are abundant catchable big fish. What you're describing does not get people very interested. Nobody travels internationally to not have a good chance of catching fish.
@@Grilledcheeseisgood11 Whoa! Over the line! I challenge you to a fishoff, you dirty snagger. In all seriousness, I have no idea why you went there. I'm talking about the idea of a "world famous fishery." I fish in difficult places all the time - none of them are world famous. The internet makes people so mean.
What an immature and selfish comment. Have you thought about why he doesn't share locations to thousands of people? Maybe it's because popular spots are full of trash and dead fish from idiots who don't respect the fishery.
Elk hunting fails, immediately falls back on fishing. That's so real. Also, what awesome fish! Those browns and bows are gorgeous
Haha story of my life. Pops chooses to stick it out and hunt, I say see ya down at the creek😂
It’s tough out there sometimes 😂 if it’s too hot to hunt I know the fish are rising!

@@hardmanfishingThat kind of looks like the South Platte River. I try to go there every year and catch some monster rainbows

It’s best when you get to walk in with Pat Dorsey!
Wow what a day! It looked like the hiking was more difficult than the fishing, outstanding video, great trout! Tight lines!
It definitely was 😂 thanks for watching!

Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed the video 👍🏼
Awesome trout Hardman, that first brown was a champ
You should go to the lower Swift river in Belchertown Mass. Huge browns, crystal clear water, extremely technical river. Great vid btw!
You should fish the Truckee River, Nevada section. Wild monster Browns, Rainbows, and Cutbows. I dont mind sharing 😁
How big do they get on the NV side?
Im from Colorado and I recomend fishing the Huerfano river, its a buetiful place to fish and there is a lake you can hike up to and it has massive native cutthroat trout
That terrain looks like my favorite brook stream in the smokies. No trail, you just wade/swim up the creek.
Wonderful browns and rainbows dude, nice !
Fished this area many times. Well done!
Thank you!
what river?
I would like some advice, what's best in a three weight rod and reel? Prefer sage or g Loomis. Please advise
Often, the hardest part of fly fishing is getting to the good water. This is phenomenal water and scenery. That first "bow" was a trophy.
Can’t argue with that! Thanks for watching!
CONGRATS ON 100K WE ❤️ U!
New subscriber here. Awesome work out there man!
Beautiful fish and footage.
Thank you!
To paraphrase Pat McManus: "If you fall, throw me your rod so it doesn't get all busted up too."

Wow! those fish were very pretty! What tips do you have for fall browns and winter rainbows? Thanks!!
Almost at 100k 🎉 congrats you are amazing at fly fishing
Thank you for the kind words! Maybe this time next week I'll be at 100k
A new HFA video! Let's go!
Another great vid and another adventure in fly fishing, who says fly fishing isn't dangerous! LOL! Keep it up, love the content.
It can be if you’re choosing the wrong trails 😂 thanks for watching!
My kind of place to seek out. Danger and fish what a combination!
Great video😊
700 to finally 100k!!!
So close!!!
What kind of set up are you using for the streamers?
Fishing the day 🎣🐟👍

and that's why the river is hard to fish. Plenty of huge trout but you gotta get to them.
What river is it? Why can no one just say the name of this worlds famous river??
Great videos! I would like to hear a little more about what you are using and why. Either way your videos make me want to wet the line!
Some difference between the lay of the land out west. Looks like you need to be part "mountain Goat" lol Enjoyed 👍
No doubt!! Thanks for watching!
Beautiful water.
I've had some killer days on this stretch!
mann nicee hardy reel
What kinda fly line do you guys run?
Hard to fish with all the people swimming in it most of the year! Hell it’s hard to even find parking
Is that floating fly line with your steamer or sink tip?
Give Andrew the “ B” roll
🔥🔥🔥🔥
What type of reels do you and your brother have
Salut !
Peut tu expliquer ton montage streamer depuis ton backing ? Soie , bas de ligne et pointe
Un fan français .

Is that the hardy ultra click or ultra disk?
Hey, this spot is my channel banner! Amazing place
i am not no fiy fisher but love your videos
Heck yeah! Glad you enjoy them!
Could you post your euro setup?
What reel is he using?

That’s a no for me dawg I’m afraid heights I’m talking I won’t even climb a ladder lol
Yeah this spot ain’t for you 😂 thanks for watching!
@ defiantly I got into fly fishing from your videos I really enjoy it y’all are always postive can’t wait for the next y’all stay safe out there
Crazy dangerous terrain! Love your video's. Keep them coming by not becoming another content creator statistic. Seriously

Thank you! I’ll do my best 😂 I don’t plan on going anywhere!
Most outdoorsmen online suck, but they have a GoPro. Not saying you. But I know folks that can dominate that water.

I could have taken the buttons off my shirt and still wouldn’t have gotten between those rocks,
LOLOL🤣
Good ole cheese
what river?
are you from WV I am I see you fishing there
Nope. Not going spelunking to catch a fish. Dont wanna end up having to cut off a limb or worse to get free.
I get you can’t or won’t say the exact area but what’s the river?
Cheesman canyon section of the South Platte river
@ thanks
“If you can catch fish here, you can catch everywhere” cast in the toilet?
Why are you fishing in a toilet? That’s a different kind of brown trout
@ I’ll admit, that was a good one😂😂😂
The climbing and the obstacles we overcome for those bastards! Yip...it's worth it. Then again, shoot an elk and you won't believe the work you'll go thru getting it out. 😢
Yeah unfortunately we didn’t get an elk so it didn’t matter… but I know that would be the biggest challenge of all😂
Why don’t you guys carry two nets when you fish together?
Because when I fly out to Co I’d rather not have to figure out how to pack a net 😂 so we just use Andrew’s net. It’s kind of annoying, may buy a second one so we both have one when I’m out there
You actually crushed it up there. Cheesman is difficult!
Sometimes…sometimes it’s ridiculously easy
Not terribly tough. I think the tailwaters in the southeast are more difficult. Make a south holston video. Without a guide.
I will for sure! The fact I haven’t hit some of that water yet is crazy 😂 I don’t even live all that far from it (relatively)
Awesome. Can’t wait to see it!!!
I know cheese when I see her
…. or not
A little over dramatic on the hiking
Location. pls i like fishing. guy
Cheeseman??
I would assume so, there’s not really any other raging river in a canyon that’s well know in Colorado besides that!
looks like cheeseman to me
Cheesman is the farthest thing from asecret secret, so yes.
Who is this cheesy man you speak of? And what does he have to do with this video?
@@hardmanfishing 😂
get a mepp in the water mate
That would be too easy! Gotta make it at least a little interesting
It's not gonna be world famous if it's extremely difficult. Fisheries don't become world famous for people not catching fish.
They become world famous when they have big fish and only the best fishermen(or women) can catch them
