Cool! I noticed you passed me just after the last river! That was my 2nd time doing this race, did my first in 2009! That sandstorm was something else ay ?! 😅🎉
Wow! 15 years between your two races? I hope I can do it again before another 15 years! This was my first time in Iceland and the country and the trail were amazing! I’d love to get over again! I’ve run many 50ks. One had a downpour and thunderstorm for an hour or two in the middle but I’ve never had anything like that sand storm! That was wild! I had to turn around a couple of times because the front of my legs were burning and stinging from all the sand blasting!
Hi Jon, honestly that is one of the coolest videos I've ever seen on RUclips, thank you so much for uploading. I hiked the trail two weeks ago and had a blast. All you guys deserve all respect for running this trail on one single day👍 Take care and stay healthy
Thanks, Michael! It’s an awesome trail! I’m glad I was able to see all of it in a day, but, also, I would’ve loved to stop and spend more time overlooking the valley. It was quite a variety of experiences and so beautiful.
@@TheDavekingmanthen you’re good to go! It’s a very popular race with a different sign up process than I’d had for any other race I’d done in the US. Go read about it on their site. When you sign up, it’s a couple of weeks before they tell you whether or not you were selected. If you haven’t run races that give you ITRA points (I hadn’t), you have to email them and convey your running experience to them so they know you’re a capable runner. If you try to sign up and they don’t select you, try again next year. If that happens 2-3 times (you try to get in but don’t get selected), they automatically let you in. I assumed I may not get in and was pleasantly surprised when they selected me.
Great Job! Such a beautifull trail.

Jon, can you recommend this one for 2025? Looks cool
For sure! As long as you know what you’re getting into / do this sort of thing (run ultras). It’s a beautiful trail.
@jonmeadows5287 yeah Jon thanks, got almost 10 ultras including mountains
