What I love is when Leigh Anne asks Collins is uncomfortable with Michael's presence, Collins immediately talks about the treatment at school rather than anything inappropriate, which means that she never ever thought Michael was threatening in any way.

Great movie. I gotta say though, people can change. Back in the 1950's in Mississippi before I was born my dad was the plant mgr at a clothing manufacturer and they were opening a new plant and hiring lots of people. They set up a table and the line started there. My dad interviewed and hired people on the spot. A black man got in line and when he reached the front of the line my dad said, "I'm sorry. We don't hire niggers." After my bro and I were born and growing up my dad had already begun to change. He would threaten to beat me and my bro. if we said that word and we never did. I never knew that story about my dad until many, many years later. When dad finally did tell that story he was so ashamed of his behavior he got choked up telling us the story. Toward the end of his life when my niece (his granddaughter) wanted to adopt a little mentally challenged black girl he financed the adoption and loved her as his own. People can change.
I honestly get questioning the safety of a girl when an older male moves into the home bc statistically the chances of her being SA’ed goes up something like 37%. However, him being black has absolutely no bearing on anything except it shows she’s racist.
Agreed! It makes me wonder if the lady would have reacted the same if Leigh Ann were sheltering a young, white football player. But the fact that she added, "a black boy" shows that she thinks race has to do with it.

I am sorry, but the woman at 1:25 makes an excellent point. Not the fact that Michael is black, but the fact that he is a large male. I'd honestly raise that concern myself, especially considering Collins is attractive. You gotta take care of your children (and especially your daughters) first.
I mean, I would think the same thing if a big boy that is not related to me was living under the same roof as my teenager daughter, but not because he is a black but because he is almost a man. The problem was that she actually mentioned because he is black as if this was determinant for her concern.
This movie is in the same category as The Help and Hidden Figures. Great concepts or great messages but they don’t really hit. It feels pushed and unrealistic. It feels like they’re trying to produce a family-friendly film that addresses a heavy topic like Remember the Titans did but they fail to make an impact. But if it positively effects one person that’s all that matters.

And she never said that he may do something either, but she didn't defend him either. But she did admit what she was doing was life changing, I think she didn't know how to react with it all, but I don't find her as a villain, just unsure.
I really don't think any of these snobby women were actually trying to put Michael down. They went a bit too far with their judgement but quickly realized this was a great thing they were doing and there was nothing further to read into it. Bringing up the fact that he was a large black boy living with their sexy teenage daughter was not out of line but she could've done it in private without being judgemental. Teenagers are horny and there's nothing wrong with that but Michael would be like the LAST guy I'd ever be afraid of have alone with my sexy teenage daughter.
The point of the dialogue is to show that waters run deep - enough to think that you're in the right with a racist belief that a black boy, in a white family, would bring harm to someone who took him in. Where there is family, there is trust and the fact that your comment has that same undertone: "Not be, but also me," further signifies the racist tone of southern white women. Have several seats.
Exactly i thought the same thing when i heard it! Doesnt matter if he was white black or green he was a boy IF i was concerned itd be that reason NOT cus hes black
I thought they were actually meaner in the first lunch. Where they are making fun of people from Hurt Village. Especially the one lady who says she's from that area but worked hard to get out, although it's corrected that she married her way out. It's no one's fault, or credit, where they are from or what they are born with at the beginning.
The racial element is the hook here though. This scene is skewed to show the women as bigoted and Im not disagreeing they are. However, I dont think its out of line for "friends" to question her decision to allow a 6'6 300 pound stranger into her house when she has kids. Ignoring the racial element, if Mike was white, Asian, or Hispanic, its a fair question to ask.
I get the concern about a hormone filled teen boy living with and around my hormone filled teen girl. But she went and screwed herself by invoking his race, as if that was a particularly concerning element. Young people want to have sex. But it’s not more likely for her daughter to be sexually assaulted or manipulated because one of the young people is black. So I get where she started but she definitely deserved that shame on you at the end

Great performance from Sandra even though I didn't like the movie that much.
I’d be concerned of ANY boy, not related to me, sleeping under the same roof as my beautiful young teenage daughter... but yeah...
@@barbossa8142 wow
Exactly i thought the same thing when i heard it! Doesnt matter if he was white black or green he was a boy IF i was concerned itd be that reason NOT cus hes black
"I got this!" 🔰✅
Karens; a universal plague against humanity.
Great scene!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looks like a scene out of ''the real housewives of .....''
Sandra was looking correct😮💨
Now that's what you call a mum!
I thought they were actually meaner in the first lunch. Where they are making fun of people from Hurt Village. Especially the one lady who says she's from that area but worked hard to get out, although it's corrected that she married her way out. It's no one's fault, or credit, where they are from or what they are born with at the beginning.
When this movie first came out I was too young to understand this scene
The racial element is the hook here though. This scene is skewed to show the women as bigoted and Im not disagreeing they are. However, I dont think its out of line for "friends" to question her decision to allow a 6'6 300 pound stranger into her house when she has kids. Ignoring the racial element, if Mike was white, Asian, or Hispanic, its a fair question to ask.
Julia Roberts in that academy worth while role.
What's sad is how untrue this movie is..
This movie is my favorite 💗
I get the concern about a hormone filled teen boy living with and around my hormone filled teen girl. But she went and screwed herself by invoking his race, as if that was a particularly concerning element. Young people want to have sex. But it’s not more likely for her daughter to be sexually assaulted or manipulated because one of the young people is black. So I get where she started but she definitely deserved that shame on you at the end
Yeah that "black" comment was unnecessary
I got in a disagreement with a guy not wearing his mask at a subway & he said he proudly voted for Trump....
I paused as he waited for me reply..
"Shame on you"
So brave
No, shame on you for bowing down to tyranny. People like you are the ones who would’ve turned in and Frank you know because the government told you to do so for your own safety

You got into an argument with a guy because he was making his own free choice? Shame on you
@@bhello2534 Wow you're a special kind of moron for equating mandates for wearing a mask to someone getting murdered for being Jewish. Talk to a fucking therapist.
“A boy, a large black boy” she could’ve just said a large boy, his race isn’t intimidating but your disgusting assumptions about his race is.
It's reasons like that that I only have a couple people that I call true friends
"he's changing mine"

Zero 13 seconds in, I like that women, very attractive.
What is this movie called please
The Blind Side
CHRIST loves you and died for you 💔😢💔🙏
I'm a black woman dating a white guy and his parents are kinda like this.
? How? Usually people are afraid a man will rape a woman, not the other way around
