    Why are you having leftover when you go out to buy extra dinner because you still hungry?

    • @hypno_bunny
      @hypno_bunny 5 лет назад +91

      Because the ACTUAL truth is, she is addicted to and spoiled on fast food/take out. When you eat take out constantly, fresh food and planned meals become less desirable and vice versa. If you eat fresh foods constantly, then fast food becomes undesirable. So, while the quesadillas were good, she really just wanted what she's used to. So, she made her usual trip out, instead of eating what she made until full. Same goes with the "Spoiled" left overs. There's no way the left overs went bad that fast. It was just an excuse to not have to eat the same thing again. People who eat take-out also become spoiled by the fact that they DON'T HAVE TO eat the same thing over again, and they can have exactly what they are craving every single day/meal, so just the thought of having to eat the same thing again, made her kinda sick in a way and made her either "think" the left overs were spoiled, or just flat out lie, just so she could have what she really wanted/was craving.
      Edit: Plus, cooking and clean up is an added hassle to a take out addict. Further spoiling the whole experience.

    • @hypno_bunny
      @hypno_bunny 5 лет назад +28

      P.S. This is coming from an ex-take out addict, so I know how she feels. I'm not judging her in any way. We all have our preferences. Our minds and bodies get used to things we do constantly. And while one way is best for one person, another way is best for the next. Don't get mad at her or judge people based on what they like. I do think this should have been titled, "I Ate Nothing But Blue Apron For A Week, from a take out addicts point of view"

Blue Apron wasn’t designed to have leftovers, so no wonder why they didn’t taste good. The title of the video lies because she gets take out on day 3 and every other day was leftovers, so it wasn’t always new.

    @heesingsia4634 5 лет назад +10

    Oh Michelle if you see this and decide you still want to continue cooking, maybe these tips would help you.
    1. Try much simpler recipes. There are numerous one pot recipes with very little ingredients. Cut everything up, throw it into the pot, add salt, pepper and water. Boil for 30 mins and voila.
    2. Avoid recipes that requires you to spend a lot of time on the meat, such as patties. You should just spend time seasoning the meat with salt and pepper that's about it. Oh.. also work with recipes that has smaller pieces of meat to cut down on cooking time
    3. Use a wok (or deep pan instead of the shallow ones) . You can substitute raw garlic or onions with store bought paste if you're not comfortable with peeling and cutting them in the beginning. Get a bottle of good quality soy sauce and that should do it for simple Asian dishes. This is for those who think Asian dishes are hard to cook.
    4. You can use soda to make sauces. Pour a can into the pan and stir till it thickens (low to medium heat). This is great if you have left over deep fried meat from the day before. Chuck them into the boiling soda and dish out after stirring for a couple of minutes.
    5. Don't get upset by the recommended preparation/cooking time. Everyone has their own pace and you'll get quicker with experience.
    6. Start by cooking once a week.. until you're comfortable with gradually moving to twice, and so on. Going all out for the whole week when you don't even have the basics probably made you dislike cooking. Don't aim too high.. cooking 3 - 4 times a week is a great achievement for someone with a day job.
    It's not that hard once you get the hang of it.

    Unlike many of the posters here, I felt sorry for you cooking without any experience - it can be quite dangerous! Cooking is a great art form that takes practice. I've never used any delivery food services but I'm starting to look into what's available as I am very weary of doing all the grocery shopping and all the prepping and all the cooking. In your situation, it's good that you have wonderful restaurants in your neighborhood to rely on. As you found out, once foods have been refrigerated, they lose some or all of their flavor which is why I'm not so interested in paying for a delivery service of prepared meals in microwave trays (seems like eating expensive leftovers!). Your experience looked like a lot of work and clean-up especially after a long day at your job, but some of your efforts turned out well, all things considered. My best to you!

    In her defense, even level one Blue Apron recipes are a bit sophisticated for people who have never cooked. It's not reasonable to expect to finish preparation in the time they claim it takes unless you have two items cooking at the same time, usually along with a third process. While instructions are usually clear, that's not always true. In Blue Apron's defense, the meals are for two and not really intended to be "shelf stable", so they're not meant to have as leftovers. I've tried Blue Apron for about 6 weeks+ and as a non-cook, I'm not sure how I feel. It's definitely healthier than fast food, not much more expensive, but it's more work than they claim, for certain. As far as taste? Not bad at all, but only a few recipes have made me want to try them again.

    Yeah...same with Hello Fresh. I actually ate an entire meal for 2 people by myself. I ate half of it at 7:30 and then, feeling absolutely famished, ate the other half 3-4 hours later. Those meals are tiny. I wonder if these companies are assuming that you are going to also have a starter on hand or something. Sometimes they are filling though. It just depends. One thing is clear though - I think I eat way more veg when i make something myself rather than blue apron or hello fresh

    I would recommend that you save the recipes. After you get enough recipes, stop buying meal kits from Blue Apron. Go to a grocery store and buy the food that those recipes require. Use those recipes to cook.
    Learn how to make something that is easy such as the following: bacon, eggs, pancakes or waffles, and fruit for breakfast, homemade burger and homemade fries for lunch, and steamed rice, roasted vegetables, and seared steak for dinner. It's not fancy, but you if make those things frequently, you'll spend less money ordering takeout.

      Blue Apron target group are people who can not cook. If Blue Apron doesn't work for such people, then there's something wrong with that service.

    Yo....if it costs that much....JUST DO IT ALL YOURSELF. People that use stuff like Blue Apron seem like they are lazy AF when it comes to shopping. They complain about not having extra cash but still use meal prep for a month lol. Doing it yourself can easily save you at least 50% GUARANTEED. And you can look up recipes online for FREE lol. Think people smh

      I live in Los Angeles blue apron is actually cheaper than my groceries for a week. I spend like 120 a week, or like 15$ a meal blue apron saves me like 200 a month on groceries
