  • Besides all the negativity said about this city I believe this city deserves more recognition than it is as of now. so much have been said that it's filthy but I didn't see that. In fact it is the cleanest small city I have ever known in South Africa.Yes the buildings are old even the pavements but they are well kept and cleaned on a daily basis.
    I didn't expect this but I got shocked to see the good than the bad I expected.
    About safety I think it depends with areas and time. U have to take care of yourself by knowing what time to walk around carrying any valuables.
    other than that I saw Gqeberha as a city well kept and it is the best.

    This city is a mess now. I live nearby. The Municipality does not maintain it. It looked amazing about 8 years ago. And that's the truth. I will ask my grandson to start a podcast and show the REAL PORT ELIZABETH.

    I have heard in another podcast that city is getting empty day by day, even at day time the buildings and roads are mostly empty because of high crime rate?

    Xhosas are very warm people in general due to the high rate of unemployment,you do get those naughty boys just like any other province. I must say thank you for showing me around my province.

    There’s always a terrible smell in the air after all the locals urinate in full view in the CBD , particularly pungent in the side streets connecting Govan Mbeki and Strand Street. It’s only the rain that gets rid of it for a short while and then it comes back again.

      😀 that's a hard one. There must be a way to that I guess.

      A community group in Hamburg came up with a scientific solution: they coated walls around the neighborhood with a special hydrophobic material that repels the liquid back onto the feet and ankles of its human dispenser.

    I believe that this city is safe the downtown I can imagine myself walking alone looks ok to me or maybe I’ve never read many headlines about it. But to be honest I’ll avoid reading headlines about it just to not have fear.

      @@Walk_Africa Thanks. As a family, we are looking forward to making it down there next year spending a year out there as a base while we travel through Southern Africa. Our kids are into wildlife so we thought this will give us a balance between seas and land exploration. We were worried about grocery availability and security and your video was very informative. So thank you

      It's dominated by Xhosa and Colored people there's also alot of white people that's why you hear mainly those 2 languages It's hard to find other people from different tribes in PE It's just vibes most people can speak both Xhosa and Afrikaans with English as the middle ground

    Do races segregate themselves in the city? Wikipedia says whites are the majority but I dont think I saw a single one

    • @Walk_Africa
      @Walk_Africa  Год назад

      Not so sure if whites have been ever a majority in many areas for the accept of some suburban areas and a city called Orania in the Free State where whites are the majority.
      I noticed there where lot of whites in Port Elizabeth but I had no time to shoot the areas. Where I walked on this video was mostly the locals. But there is another video I think same in Port Elizabeth on this channel that has what u looking for. Check out on Port Elizabeth Gqeberha videos on this channel. Good luck 🙂
