Thank you for continuing to post candid videos. In 50 years of riding, I've had ~10 drops. Fortunately, no injuries (at least physically). In terms of hurt ego, however 9 of 10 have been either In the garage (rearranging), In the driveway (starting out as you bravely show) or Forgetting to put down the kickstand & walking away (in full view of others) to the sound of gravity acting on freestanding metal So thank you for continuing to keep it real for us everyday mortals.
My Blowing rock story...about 25 yrs ago me and my riding buddy rode from Florida to blowing rock and got there on a Sunday evening ready for a room and a beer. Just across road from our motel room was a tavern( cant remember name) so we hit the tavern and met a guy and his girlfriend who were biking from up north. We immediately started talking and hit it off and ended up drinking a case and half beer and it was one story after another. One of my most memorable nights while bike touring. We exchanged numbers and have stayed in touch. I can't ever remember laughing so much that night❤ fun times on the road!!!
In the Grand Scheme of life you’re alot richer than most my friend! Beautiful family! You’re getting out and enjoying time traveling with family and doing your own hobbies at the same time! Dont let the ILLUSION of having more money define how rich you really are! As you would put yourself in the shoes of financially wealthy people a poor man would rather be in your shoes! Hey Ang, if we were normal we probably wouldn't be doing what we do. But who wants to be normal? Let me share with you a bit of a recent road trip to middle Tennessee. First, my ride: Suzuki Vsrtom DL650ABS. After a great nights sleep at a campsite behind an old country store I was loaded up and ready to continue with my adventure. I'm on the bike, fired up and ready to roll. I decided to do a final check of my planned route for the day on my Garmin XT. Keep in mind the bike is running sitting on the kickstand. I look down and realize I had dropped a glove. I swing off the bike grab the glove. Walking back around the bike I put my foot on the peg to swing my leg over the bike, my foot hits the shift lever, the bike goes into first gear, lurches forward, comes off the kickstand and goes down. My initial thought was, this is a great way to start the day. After getting over being pissed at my self I picked the bike and continued on my way. Don't be too hard on yourself, we all drop our bikes. Some of us more than others. Thanks for sharing your adventures and keeping it real.
Truth! Normal is over rated... Ahh - that sounds like an epic bike drop - I love it... I feel kind of lucky that most of my drops are when I'm going like 5mph or less...
I’ve dropped my Himalayan at very low speed, more times in the last two years, than all the bikes I’ve owned in the last 50 years - granted I’m older and weaker but the Himalayan fully loaded is very top heavy. And with cancer robbing me of 1/3 of my body weight (mostly muscle), getting the bike back on two wheels is not an easy task (thank you for the kindness of strangers giving me a hand). So it’s great you included the reality of dropping a bike 😁🇦🇺👍
When I lived up north, we scheduled rides, even weekend & Wednesday night rides, after our club meetings. (Plattsburgh NY ( 1982-1991 ) Royal Knights MC, But rain rides, had the most people come out. we would ride around Lake Champlain, about a 200 miles ride. about 130 Dumb Asres would come out to play.
Mortimer was a decent sized little town around the early 20th century. Lumber was big business. Mortimer had a hotel lodge , a theater , and passenger railroad service ...... And School , churches, and a general store . Things change over time , and sometimes get erased. At one time Mortimer was a productive and prosperous little town . Something that is almost unimaginable today standing at the old Mortimer town marker
Keepin it real brutha. How many miles do ya have on that himi? I’m right at 5g. So far the second fuel pump is holding up. They finally swapped out the whole gas tank haha. If I had to guess they prob dropped the tank at the shop. Anyway. Keep on keepin on.
Ok so have you tired 9 mile restaurant in Asheville?? It is amazing. P.S. I think the Himalayan likes to get dropped. 😢 Whitt road got me just 2 weeks ago.
rain.I have a riding buddy and we've taken many trips together. Each one...rain. Rather than carry locators, he tells his wife to look at the weather radar and the reddest, darkest spot is where he is.....
My uncle told me that back in the early 70's he was riding his brand new CB450 , and he pulled up to the stop light , his pant leg had blown up and over the Kickstart lever , and over he went right in front of everbody .

@@binness fulcrum effect 🤔 man , I'm 60 ....I hope to God I can still pick up a DRZ400 when I'm 76 , if I even make it that far 😳 ...... my respect and admiration for you sir ! 💪
@@binness the difference of picking up my WR and my DRZ is quite noticable. * I've already had one hernia surgery , don't wanna buy $$ another one.....if I can help it 👌

bike drop was a 7.5/10 . Placement of the bike drop solid 10/10. Leaves were great , Well done .
