It is persistent myth of game 2-0 when Charlton subbed. Can see from clip Beckenbauer had scored before happened. Charlton was ageing and had played longer than previous games. He dropped a terrible clanger in the previous game, against Czechoslovakia (which English fans never mention) when he let a shot from Adamec slip through his hands. It was worse than Bonetti failing to stop Beckenbauer's shot. But the crossbar saved Banks. The woodwork didn't save Bonetti. I had a dream last night of this match that imo was a direct result of Bobby Charlton being substituted when the score was 'safe' at 2-0 Charlton commanded our midfield. He died less than 24hrs later.. strange..
GRAN ERROR DE RAMSEY......BIG MISTAKE OF RAMSEY
It is persistent myth of game 2-0 when Charlton subbed. Can see from clip Beckenbauer had scored before happened. Charlton was ageing and had played longer than previous games. Colin Bell younger and fitter good quality player. England were playing better before the rather freakish headed equaliser.
It's important to remember that England and the worlds best goalie Gordon Banks was mysteriously sick for this game otherwise West Germany were not scoring all 3 goals ... that's aside from the fact that England scored a perfectly good goal at 3-2 and then were denied a stonewall penalty ... yep West Germany should not have won this game
100% fixed tournament.
Why was the 'adidas TELSTAR' ball not used in this match?
I thought use of the 'adidas TELSTAR' ball was mandatory as it was the official ball of the nineteen seventy world cup.
The Adidas balls used included the Telstar and a plain white and a plain brown ball. It was the same in 1974 except that the brown ball was not used - just the Telstar and plain white one.
Great job man for this,i think gr8footy only covered this game, but this is much better quality, great job. I wrote u on latest video on this channel what games are not covered, so i wont repeat. Hope u continue 1970 - 1982 .
Also euro cups have great matches, from 80''s . All best one more time
Thanks My Friend
Alot of shots and attacking football , and england goal disallowed and the penalty ! ffs was the ref bribed ? unbelievable decisions tbh
Newton's goal to put England 3-1 up was the best one lol
Lol I noticed that. iirc Newton crossed it.
The English press blamed Sir Alf Ramsey for bringing off Bobby Charlton when the England team were winning 2-1 and in control.
EXACTO....BIG MISTAKE. AND DID NOT PLAY BANKS and there were two penaltys agaisnt England
@@guillermoalvaradoflores8698Gordon Banks missed the match due to food poisoning. (West) Germany's first goal was an error by Bonetti but harsh to lay all the blame on him.
Bonetti made a great safe from Muller's shot
The Germans succeeded where England failed, because without any kind of winger in their 22, England had to stick to their counter-punching 4-4-2 even after it had been made clear that this system demands too much from the midfielders and full backs. It might have been suitable in European conditions but never in the heat of Mexico and this should have been expected.
Clear penalty for England in extra time, how was that not given?
England should have won this
I Like your chanel , keep going, add some 80s and 90s too, if you want
Notice how pants were a lot shorter then than now. When did that change (for the better I might add)?
Müller was a legend
At that time played 11 germans against 11 britons.
No anymore
8:29 - Penalty. The referee of the match did not give because it is blind or ....
Absolute stonewall penalty not given to England
That's true, the Beckenbauer foul on Colin Bell was so obvious. It was an Argentinian referee - he's even smiling when he blows the final whistle! 😆
Against that England had a non existent penalty awarded against Czechoslovakia.
Yes a penalty in your Dreams 😂
I just want to remind you what happened four years ago in all the tournement and in the final?
@@gwangi64 When England looses I smile always too 😂
Can you explain me this feeling?
@@roberttrindade7238 You don't have to be like that. I am English but the Germans of the 1970's had a great effect on me and left a deep impression to this day. In fact Gunter Netzer is my on-line picture. But I would like England to do well also.
Backembauer and Bob Charlton two great of football.
Slim margins my friends...very slim. Could've gone either way.
It seems that England has been paying for the controversial decision of the linesman at Wembley for 50 years. England's loss to Germany at the World Cups and Euros: 1970, 1972, 1982 (draw in favor of Germany), 1990, 1996, 2010. In 2020, the series was interrupted - you are forgiven!
The 1990 and 1996 were the curse at semifinals game, prevent England from reaching any major finals. The 2010 was a payback from 1966. After that the semifinal curse was broken in 2018, which Germany was eliminated in the group stage, England was a world cup finalist but suffered a humiliating 1-7 defeat to France.
Germany the best football team ever with legendary players like Seeler Beckenbauer Libuda Muller Schnellinger Overath Vogts and Sepp Maier .
(West) Germany was very good, as were England and Italy, but the greatest team in Mexico 1970 was without question Brazil, who deservedly won the World Cup.
Team from 1970 was better than the one from 1974.
Same with the team from 2010 which was better than the one from 2014
Pelé, Jairzinho, Tostão, Rivellino, Gérson, Clodoaldo, Carlos Alberto, thats the best team
@@fillipewallacy10 Probably he meant Germany 1970 was the best Germany ever
@@Schnipp08 Honesty I don't think Germany in 2010 was better than in 2014. But maybe in 1970 was better than in 1974 cause legends Müller and Beckenbauer were younger and in the best period of career.
Mas, Alemanha tinha 1 time espetacular.
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷✌✌🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
We don't need the score line in the title. Scores should never be in the title.
That's like Netflix putting Spoilers in the title of they're movies/Shows.
It just isn't needed.
The Ref was the German's best player
The usual excuses who are the usual loosers.
The Germans are always the luky one and about the others?
When the others loses the Germans are always the guilty one.
England since 1966 without no title dont tell me that you are blaming the Germans?
How to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory......🙄🏴
Best comment on RUclips EVER 😅
Banks was a huge loss...bonetti was no Gordon banks that is for sure... but beckenbauer was magnificent
Actually Bonetti could do nothing for 2nd and 3rd goal, but on the 1st he is clearly late in his dive, he could have blocked or intercepted Beckenbauer shot.
@@RDeckardN6 it's not what bonetti could or couldn't do it's what banks could have done...banks positioning in goal was so perfect always... I'd say Gordon banks is maybe top 3 goal keeper's of all time that's how good he was
Maybe it was the heat, and that players weren't as fit / prepared as they are today, but Beckenbauer was given acres of room in our half, he had at least half-a-dozen shots on goal from 35+ yards. The England midfield looked lacking in bite. In terms of quality, this was a great WC; England / West Germany / Italy all had teams capable of winning a World Cup tournament, and Brazil took the trophy with perhaps the greatest ever WS squad.
@@quae5tor yeah you might be on to something... there's a reason why alf sacrificed bobby Charlton and told him to man mark beckenbauer in 66...the Dutch made exactly the same mistake in the 74 final... they allowed the Kaiser to much room and he ran the show
Banks was brilliant but also human. Bonetti actually made some very good saves in this game and I'd say England's defence was to blame for the second and third goals, not Bonetti.
This game saw a nose dive in English football that lasted almost 40 years and beyond... could not win a carrot..scraped through qualifying...hopefully this is now over ...while other nations learned by there mistakes...England did not in fact went backwards with Southgate at the helm England now look like a force in world football once again
Apparently Keith Newton scored Englands second goal!
How England weren't awarded at least one penalty l will never know?
Argentinian referee.
Some people in the Labour Party thought the result of this game helped them lose the 1970 General Election. They had been ahead in all the polls beforehand and then there were some unexpectedly bad trade figures, plus England losing to West Germany after being 2-0 up. This game took place four days before the election where Edward Heath and the Conservatives had a surprise victory. Maybe the British - or at least English - people were thinking the Swinging 60s were over, the Beatles were splitting up, and now England were no longer world champions at football so time for a change at the top and get rid of Labour!
INGLATERRA ERA MEJOR TUVO MALA SUERTE CON LA LESION DE SU ARQUERO Y EN EL ALARGUE NO LE COBRARON UN CLARO PENAL QUE LE FAVORECIA , SALUDOS Y SUERTE
I watched this live and was delighted by the comeback and result. Great days.
England robbed two times in this Match
Gordon Banks the best goalkeeper in the world didn’t play, hence, England lost. Bonetti a good club football goalkeeper froze and was out of his depth in such an enormous match.
Love the cheers when Germany scores, greetings from Scotland
6:33 - Breakin' the Lohr. I'll get my coat...
2:42 Maybe even a foul in the box here too? Penalty?
Stonewall penalty .
@@Lord_Hillcrest 👍👍😒
@@thelstanedwardsson4374 A two footed tackle when the ball had past him . Ive seen lesser tackles given as a penalty .
@@Lord_Hillcrest Honestly mate, it was a rhetorical question, we were completely shafted by the referee in that Quarter Final v Germany. It could be seen as the start of it all - because we have been shafted by FIFA and UEFA referees ever since.
@@thelstanedwardsson4374 Aint that the truth .
This game saw the start of.a nose dive in English football that lasted aver 40 years .....players that were great at club level but could not cut it in an England shirt.....managers that lived on past glory ..did not move with the times ...to be 2-0 up at half time and loose unforgivable....hopefully with Southgate at the helm those days are over....
What was wrong with that England equaliser??
Bertie Vogts, Scotland 👍
The English, still going nuts about some of the decisions in this game ☺ I agree, it was a penalty for the foul on Bell in extra time. But you say nothing when bad decisions go your way...but then call referees all the names under the sun when they don't 🤔
Two footed tackle in the box 😂
Lol can’t believe the refs missed that one
Great game
The penalty on 8:31 is a so 70;s ...the referee FFIFA cash in decision...so typical...
Can remember when Alf took Charlton’ off and thought to early ,
At 5-13 England a tuft of grass from the sem-final and therefore changing the course of World Cup history, they would have beaten the Italians in the next game and played Brazil in the final, think the heat of Mexico would eventually have told on them as it was a factor in the loss to the Germans.
There is no certainty that England would have beaten Italy at all - they would have found it hard to score.
spoiled by the dubbed crowd noise
I think at this time penalties were not given so easily as nowadays. Watch the semifinal between Italy and Germany, it is a good example. There were 3 or 4 clear penalties not given for the german side. Unbelievable if you compare it with actual football.
What do you mean 'actual football'? They weren't playing FIFA or subbuteo.
Looking back I don't think Bonetti was at fault for any of the goals, they were just excellently taken goals. Muller was some player, & Germany were an excellent team, the better team won.
Well, he should have saved Beckenbauer's shot alright. He just went down like a railroad barrier and let the ball pass.
At fault for all three. First and on the second he came when he should have stayed back and on the third stayed back when he should have come. You can't let the opposition centre forward get a shot in from inside the six yard box in the air.
@@Ruda-n4h Nonsense, probably should have done better with the first, however why was Beckenbaur not closed down. We had a donkey playing at centre half
named Brian Labone who went missing for the 2nd and 3rd goal
@@jameswiglesworth5004 The defence should have pushed up for offside on the second goal and they were ball watching for the third, but that doesn't excuse the goalkeeper. The six yard box is his domain and he is the last line of defence - that's his job at the end of the day. The real art of goalkeeping takes more than just making saves and one of the main functions is to come for and hold high crosses. Beckenbauer was pretty unstoppable with quick changes of pace to get past opponents at that time.
Wonderful afternoon in the heat of Mexico
PENALTYYYYYYYY
Revenge for Wembley 😅
Greetings from Germany
I like England
Ingiltere Almanya maclari cok sert gecerdi sanki savasiyorlar ama biliyoruz birinci ikinci dünya savasindan ibaret birbirlerini cok severler😂
shld hv been a penalty for England a extra time 9:12. score shld be 3-3.
Referee did not call a clear foul by Beckenbauer on xtra time / second half , it should it have been a clear penalty in favor of England to tie the match 3 x 3 ... and go penalties🤨
We don't want penalty shootouts deciding important games. This is a television influenced idea, so people carry on watching the channel for longer and for the supposed drama. Every world cup since 1990 has been hindered by loads of pen shootouts. And the actual final should never be decided by them unless they've played a replay with extra time.
Pretty obvious that there's corruption with certain officials in football matches. In the 1966 final one of England's goals clearly wasn't over the goal line ..But they were obviously robbed in this game by blatant cheating refs! Who can forget the "hand of god goal" in 1986 either?
Frani Lee was a bit ova Geezer
A Alemanha se vingou da derrota de 1966 !
La final debió ser Alemania-Brasil.
8.25 100% penalty
The balls were leather and heavier in those days.
Most of the goalies without gloves! Lol
