@@YxYzYx well that’s a sad thing if it’s true. He appeared to be lucid and sober in the interview. But thanks for letting me know; I’ll get on my knees and say a prayer for him RIGHT NOW.
Ryan(and Dan), it is so inspiring to see Ryan succeeding in his new football role. I am an old (82) yo WSU fan whose daughter is an alum, and I watched you, Ryan, accomplish some incredible feats as a Coug. I am very thankful that you matured and accepted the opportunity to turn a temporary defeat into a success. And...thank you Dan for giving Ryan this exposure. Cheers and all the best to you both.
No lie. Why the players that didn’t live up to the hype never comeback to coach? They have all the knowledge and experience to help these young players.
Yeah reason you don't recall him is because he was drafted in 1998 the 2nd biggest bust in nfl history. Still glad to see him doing well now and he is very smart.
Ryan's first response to Dan Patrick doubting Russ' HOF status was to unleash on Payton. Then Dan tried to bring him back to focus on trashing Russ' career again. There is an agenda.
Ryan leaf has had the most reasonable take on Russ after the Seahawks, more than any other sports commentator/personality that I've seen or heard. His pov on Trevor Moad's effect is very valid imho
I was always a Russ fan before the trade to Denver and I am a Broncos fan. I was stoked when he arrived. Folks who didn’t watch Russ play in Denver just don’t really understand. Russ is no longer a Bronco because he can’t take a 3 step drop and throw a timing based slant or crossing route. He can’t throw the deep dig route with timing. He has almost no vision over the middle. Between the hash marks is a dead zone for the passing game unless he’s outside the pocket. He scrambles into sacks more than any other QB with open receivers available because he has to see it to throw it. If it’s not a check down or bomb after scrambling around for 5+ seconds, it’s likely a sack. Sean Payton wants a QB who can play with timing and anticipation. Russ just isn’t (and has never been) that guy. No coach has “busted play on 2” in the playbook but those are the only plays Russ truly excels at (unfortunately, he himself busts the play first by holding the ball and scrambling out of a clean pocket when he doesn’t need to). His next team will realize this early.
so did you not realize this before he played for Denver? I’ve never thought Wilson had a great skillset but the even bigger issue for me is he thinks he’s above his teammates, his coaches and the game in general and outside of Pete Carroll hiding his shortcomings, he really hasn’t shown much to have that kind of attitude
Ryan is so wrong when he said “There hasn’t been a positive with Sean Payton since he got there.” They started 1-5 and then went on the longest winning streak in the NFL last year (6 games). They were in the playoff picture up until the last week of the season. Plenty of positives. Ryan clearly despises Sean Payton for some reason.
Thank you! I kove me some Penix Jr! If falls into the later rds? Because of health issues! The Chicago Bears should jump on him like a Duck on a June Bug!
Reason that Payton doesn’t like Wilson is Wilson had no ability to run his offense. The Bronco WRs were just as frustrated as Payton with Wilson not throwing the ball on time to open receivers. It goes to how good the Seattle coaches were to make Wilson a solid QB
Ryan is exceptional. One of my favorite commentators. Who would have guessed, this arduous journey, would have led to this greatness. Agree Sean Payton is an egomaniac narcissist. Can’t stand the guy. Well done Ryan.
Your knock or statement on jj McCarthy I'd look at it a different way the team was so dominant running that they protected their star qb that was banged up to ensure he was there against Ohio state. That he'd be good to go going into the playoffs. Let's not forget jj made some big plays that led to the win over Bama and played very well in the championship game
Lots of respect for Ryan Leaf's comeback, the man has strength. That said, the take on JJ is a bit under-informed. Michigan ran the ball 30 times in a row against the top rushing defense in the country and won. That game was about sending a message and shouldn't be held against JJ.
@@Sneakycastro69 yeah he got addicted to opioids and then hit bottom and got arrested and went to prison for breaking into somebody's house and stealing their opioids. Could have been a contendah
Eli defense kept it close and when it counted Eli balled out the first superbowl year he played terrible in the beginning of the year but at the end he came alive especially in the playoffs
If I ran the Bears I'd trade the #1 to the Redskins, prior to this I'd trade Justin Fields, then draft Jayden Daniels, and sign Russell Wilson to be my starter this year.
I think Ryan Leaf got it right about Wilson and Sean Payton. Not only does Payton have a giant ego for a coach who didn't accomplish as much a other coaches but he has a bad character. The NFL suspended him for a year for paying his players to hurt other players. During the 1987 strike, he crossed the picket line and betrayed his fellow players. The scene of him screaming at Wilson on the field also shows low character. And the story of him trying to get Wilson to change his contract or get benched, doesn't sound like a person anyone should trust.
Yeah but Williams will learn to adapt cause he honestly has too. For me the fact that he can play off script is huge. You have to able to in today's nfl. Look at the best qb's in the league , Mahomes, Allen, and Lamar all excel at playing off script. They're definitely will be some growing pains in year one for Williams but when he figures it out I think he's gonna be a beast.
Yep this is all about Payton &his ego; Russ was a top-10 quarterback in almost every category except for one. Any QB that can throw for less than 10-interceptions in a season can win your organization games. The O-line was not good at all, can anyone name their top-2-RBs? Jerry Judy has been as disappointing a 1st-round receiver that we've seen in the last decade (John Ross, Henry Ruggs, Jalen Reagor & Laviska Shenault) Not to mention that none of the other WRs were mention on a level that Judy was; he was suppose to be as special as Lamb or Jefferson The Broncos offense looked legit when they were in the hurry-up or the 2-minute drill. Essentially when Russ Wilson had the ball &they just asked him to play off instinct &to go put six on the board asap. and Russ often delivered &always has, leading four 4th-quarter comebacks just last season &that was tied for the league lead. An organization that knows what it's doing &has some offensive talent can win a playoff game; maybe two with Danger-Russ
Ryan shouldn't talk about a good college QB not being able to play good in the NFL. This him. He only gets jobs because of sympathy. They don't let one of the worst NBA players talk basketball, or one of the worst baseball players talk baseball. Or any other sport.
Ryan you’re an inspiration to a lot of people. Congratulations on your success in life and new career.
I couldn't agree more with you about RYAN LEAF!!
Ryan Leaf's got one of the few clearheaded viewpoints on this recent Broncos-Wilson saga.
