The transfer portal is the best thing for ballers..
A lot of coaches make promises to players during recruiting then when a player gets to the school it's a flip -the a player is unhappy..
You only have 4 yrs of college- sitting out a yr is wasting time and hinder your path to your goal..

49:25 Marcus mentioned Matt McClung and the transfer portal - I wish you guys had expanded more on him and why he's struggling to lock in a spot on a NBA roster.. he only getting 10 day contracts (right before the allstar break just so he can compete in the dunk contest..
He's better than that - what is it I'm not seeing

The NBA have alot of young immature players as well- the problem is just kept in house and managed better-
So as for NIL and the issues you have with players in college- I believe it's no different than in the NBA
You on a rookie contract and a coach is not playing you enough to build up your value so as to get a better extension- Obi toppins comes to mind as I'm typing - him and coach thibs had a all out shouting match which led to the Knicks trading him to Indiana (for cheap)... now he just signed a decent extension with indiana...
I say all that to say, the problem you have with NIL in college is no different than the NBA and their contracts, skillsets, branding and endorsements...

What happened to today's ballers? 2008 you say something shifted?
    Yup!!
I couldn't agree more - and is why the overseas players will be dominating going fwd - until we figured it out!
Then these same black athletes will be complaining about the system and how its playing against them - then the racism card will then gets played..
I heard Gilbert arenas saying the NBA is changing the rules for the overseas players- and guess what, (there's some truth) cause they're the ones who are more disciplined and take on the challenges head on..
