    Such a fantastic episode and that cliffhanger gets me every...single...time. And yes, Claudia is an amazing actress and she doesn't get enough credit for her work.

    This is still one of my all time favorite season finales. I love the way it takes the time to revel in how close the characters have grown from the start of the season before building to that cliffhanger... orbithanger.

    Family Ties basically restarts whole journey of our characters in a refined and revised way. They made their goodbyes and Moya was convinced to save as much of them as possible. The main antagonist was switched from Crais (who was morphed into a chaotic neutral but still selfish character who buried and made his peace with his past but still not trustworthy yet) to Scorpius who is in all intends makes a perfect personification of Maniplative Evil Genius in Space character. Crichton , Aeryn and Dargo (who is in mortal danger) left in lurch and Talyn was kidnapped by Crais right from everyone's noses. Basically journeys end and other journeys begin for our characters because in its core , Farscape with its wackiness , zanyness , bizareness , melodrama , humor , is a journey of these characters

    Something that Lani Tipu (the actor behind crais and pilot) says about crais that you picked up on.
    He's loud and brutish... But watch when he's quiet. He's listening, thinking, planning. That's when he's dangerous.

    • @Shadowman4710

      One of the things about this show is just how deep the "villains" are. In the beginning of the season, Crais comes off as little more than your standard militaristic thug, that everybody has seen a million times in films and tv. By the end of the season, he's clearly something more. That conversation between him and Crichton in the cell is one of my favorite things ever.

    This is literally every season finale of Farscape - the crew is left in such dire straits you think there is literally no way they are going to survive or come out intact. This show mastered the cliffhanger ending IMO.

    I don't know if there is any place to find them still, but as each episode came out, the SciFi channel's webpage for the show would have all of Crighton's diary notes. I think this was one of the first shows to add that kind of bonus online material for their fans.

    I will never forgive Rygel for going to the peacekeepers. Doesn't stop me liking and appreciating the character but I never forget it and always remember what he was capable of and judge him for it. Likewise I will never forgive Crais for all many horrible things he does BUT this is the episode where I became intrigued by the character and eventually came to enjoy him. Doesn't mean I forgive him. I particularly hate and am disgusted by all what he did to Moya. He essentially kidnaped her, enslaved her, raped her, violated her, and tried forcing a pregnancy on her. Then he kidnapped that child! He wanted that child to be a weapon, peverted his form to suit his needs, and then ran off with him!
    The first time I watched I was heartbroken at Crais taking Talyn and every time I get sad knowing its coming and pissed when it does. I may enjoy the character but frell that man. Poor Moya. Poor Tayln. And really by the end of this ep poor just about everyone!

    • @JakkFrost1
      @JakkFrost1 3 года назад +3

      @@medusacascade all I said was, first, at 7:08 (I think), no matter how many times I rewatch the show, that scene always make me teary-eyed, as Crichton shows us the first real ch*nks in his armor (censored because I just realized _that_ word is what got my comment shadow deleted by youtube, despite an entirely different meaning), the first real sign of the hell he's been through the past cycle. Ben Browder was fantastic in that scene, as he often is.
      Second, I also said that since you've finished the series, maybe you noticed the evolution of Crichton's outfit as the seasons progressed and he became more accustomed to his new life.
      He went from an all white outfit in the first season, signifying his "innocence", to a fully dressed in black badass with the trenchcoat to match in season 4, with the colors getting progressively darker in the intermediate seasons/series, showing how more and more "grey" his worldview was becoming, and how his response to situations has become more morally "adaptable".
