  • Interview with American jazz singer/songwriter and musician Melody Gardot, on Skavlan
    Melody Gardot (born February 2, 1985) in New Jersey) is an American jazz singer, writer and musician in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was disabled at 19 after being struck by a car while riding her bicycle and began writing music after using music to aid her recovery. She has been influenced by such blues and jazz artists as Janis Joplin, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington and George Gershwin as well as Latin music artists such as Stan Getz and Caetano Veloso.
    Gardot follows the teachings of Buddhism, is a macrobiotic cook and humanitarian who often speaks about the benefits of music therapy.

    My former coworkers got me into her when they had Pandora up one time. They searched for who she is because she sounded divine and voila, we're all hooked to Melody Gardot since then.

    Jay Z is a prime bellend. Jazz laid the foundations for rap and hip hop. He likes Miles, yeah, the only one he has heard of. Calls jazz elevator music? yeah, OK.

    I love how uncomfortable JayZ looks! He realizes he is in the presence of real talent, unlike his manufactured brand. You should be humbled to sit on the same stage sir.
