Although it sounds like trash in the beginning, when you download it, it breaks the stems down so you can chop the samples up

  • @el-bov8034

It seems the trick is to download the packs. Even if the whole track sounds like ship, one of the stems might be useful.

  • @phillytnoize

Its dope, but you have to be creative. Its def not gonna give you stuff thats already a completed work, which is good IMO. You have to "flip" them just like you would a traditional sample. Some of the demos arent great but the sounds in the packs once you download it can be flipped if you are creative. But for just raw material to help make beats with, some ideas, and some textures, its definitely a nice lil tool.

I just went to try this out and I will say this 1. I put in “70s soul sample, no drums, Somber” and put in what key I wanted it in..it gave some good results 2. I believe musicians prerecorded stuff and tagged it so we find what we find 3. The cool thing is when you download the “pack” it gives you a stemmed out version…a mix version, and also gives you a “sample pack” of a bunch of instrument loops/one shots .. which is cool… so you can isolate instruments or use the whole thing as it is…
Long story short.. would i use this? I will probably make a few beats with this today… then after that, once in a while I may pop in and see what it generates, if I get in beat block.. which I don’t get that much.. but I think to breed inspiration, it’s a good tool

I had the same results as you, I was trying to get some slow blues jazz with drums and got some 1980's easy listening elevator music. I think you're right about having a pool of pre-set samples they pick from. When you download the pack, there's a folder of samples and another of stems. The samples are much longer versions of each instrument that's used to play the demo. I was able to get a few decent results with it, but a lot of the results sounded very similar. It's a really neat idea though. I would be really curious to hear the results if you could use that algorithm on your own custom sample library.

If a creator is using this to make samples to flip or chop then it makes sense to me. When the human brain has to figure out and learn we
naturally, evolve, and become better at what it is we're trying to achieve. personally, I have
no desire to want to use this. There's joy and motivation when you naturally become better due to
adversity. Just my opinion, make your own packs from the soul, there's nothing better. But if you must use this
be creative, don't just enter a prompt, get the results, and package it. That is so lazy.

It’s probably all similar because this is trained on a relatively small set of (probably commercial?) soundpacks. It might even be an open set of sounds.
Generative AI quality is all about how much data and how good the data they are trained on. Which is how OpenAI took over (among other things)

This type of system needs a Spotify type of training algorithm that learns YOUR sound. That would revolution music production. The good thing about that is it would be so expensive that it won’t be locked away for only a few big producers or labels it’d have to be a major corporation with big funding with a wide set of customers so we’ll hear about it unlike say Autotune which they tried to hide for a couple yrs

So it confirmed to me for sure my suspicions I had already about AI: that it is NOT going to replace humans any time soon. So much skepticism by the user is always in order. Therefore, I'm going to continue to perfect my craft as a composer. Thanks so much for rendering this highly relevant content!

I think all this does is randomize the kits that are already in Arcade. Plus you have to input the BPM and key in your prompts to get the best results or you’ll just get loops thrown together that don’t have the same BPM and key. The prompts work just like the search filters in Arcade.
Seems to me that Output is attempting to assist producers who struggle with Arcade as from what I see, most don’t use the filters when they’re cooking. That takes more time to find sample loops that could fit your project. And definitely nobody I see on RUclips ever attempts to edit the loops in Arcade either. People just want to throw together loops real quick and easy and when that’s not working, they abandon Arcade pretty quick. So, I think this is Output’s attempt to recoup some of those that abandoned Arcade previously. I could be wrong about all of this though, but one thing I do know is I still think using the search filters on Arcade is better than using Co-Producer.

It's crap and it has a long way to go before it's any usable. If it was any good Output would be charging the shit out of it. It's got that same metallic-sounding quality of Riffusion which is still in development. Splice's new AI feature does a way better job than this.
