I noticed something that My Melo is actually called in the English Dub Series she is literally called My Melody as if you look in other appearances she’s been that was officially from Sanrio in that My Melo is a Japanese name in games she’s been in along cast other Sanrio characters including Kuromi for the English dub they literally called her My Melody in the Spanish Dub of My Melody everyone refers her as My Melody if you look into Kuromi's Pretty Journey English dub or Japanese Dub. The English subtitles refer to the English region with clearly the gang and Kuromi in English Translation referring to My Melo as My Melody. In Japan lots of people call her My Melo and My Melody part is only mentioned for the opening or endings. In the English USA Dub Series of her other appearances in shows, games, websites, and cameos in Kuromi's Pretty Adventures English Sub or Dub she is called My Melody if you played one of the iPhone, iPad games of her in it or the Apple Arcade in English or other regions (Not Japan) she gets always called My Melody in one of the apps she gets called Melody removing the "My" the app of this game is removed from the Apple Store though. I learned more lore about this when I started watching her in a latest appearance 2020-2023 and English DVD that evolves her lacking a mouth. Clearly in English dub she is called My Melody. Even the official Sanrio Website of her statement in English says she is My Melody. That’s just English subtitles translating the Japanese words into English. For actual true English Words she is literally called My Melody sometimes gets called My Mel by Kuromi in one of the English dub appearances. For Kirby Anime Japanese and Pokémon Japanese English subtitles translating the Japanese words into English. Actual dub they come up with more formal name changes for the region. Fumu gets changed to Tiff in other regions, Satoshi gets changed to Ash Ketchem in other regions, Zenigame gets changed to Squirtle in other regions, Pupu Village gets changed to Cappy Town in other regions, and My Melo gets changed into My Melody in other regions. Would you rather have the future English dub you make call her My Melody instead of My Melo? That could convince the Sanrio Company more to actually make a My Melody English Dub Series of her own Anime Show like they did to Kuromi's own show. Besides I bet the Sanrio Company for other regions & English (Japan not included) wanted English people to call her My Melody lots of other stuff than just people who watched Melodies Japanese Anime just calling her My Melo while other English dub shows & stuff called her My Melody.
It’s a option if you like or not doing so it’s ok if you still like calling her My Melo after reading the English subtitles in her show that’s fine lots of people have their decisions to do what they like.
In Animal Crossing New Horizons as a outfit, Sonic Dash, and Super Mario Maker 1 she gets called My Melody in the English text US or other regional versions (not jp versions) of those games.
